Just had our wedding reception at the Old Ferry Boat and it was amazing. The staff were fantastic and were so helpful in setting up, on the day and clearing up.
The food was great and we were really made to feel very special.
We also stayed the night and was really impressed with the room and the breakfast in the morning was a wonderful, a great way to start married life.
A special thanks to Chris who worked so hard to make the day perfect for us
This was outstanding. Well maintained gardens and car park. Spotless pub and dining room.
We were there for. 50th birthday function and the best night.
The function room was stunning beautifully laid tables a wonderful buffet and a great DJ that kept up on our feet all night.
The manager and her team worked their socks off and couldn't be more helpful.
A well managed business.
Rooms were comfortable and clean and we had a lovely view of the river.
Breakfast was also perfect. Everything was hot and continuously replenished by the manager and her team.
Fantastic wedding, christening, anniversary, birthday or any celebration you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to all The FerryBoat Team xxx love The Pinkerton's xxx
Booked a table for 5 for my Mum's 80th birthday lunch.
We travelled up from Essex and my aunt was brought down from Derby.
The staff were excellent, sorting a table inside with a river view as requested in advance.
The lunch session was busy but our food arrived hot and quickly.
Very attentive staff
A spotlessly clean pub
A gem by the side of the river
Came here for my birthday lunch and was not disappointed.we had a steak which was cooked just how we like it,sat in a lovely cosy window seat overlooking the river.desert and wine were delicious too.staff friendly and helpful.
This is one of the top 10 oldest pubs in the UK. A Greenie King owned and operated, the Ales were of excellent quality and good condition. The minimal staff were under a lot of pressure on the day of my visit (Sunday) but they were still friendly, helpful and served with a smile, even though they all looked exhausted. The rooms were clean and warm. The food was hot and tasty pub fare. There is plenty of seating inside and a large beer garden with plenty of sunshine in the Summer. Thank you to the staff for all of their efforts.
The food here was delicious. We didn’t have a reservation but they still managed to squeeze us in inside. The service was a little on the slow side but it was quite busy. Dessert options were also incredible. Highly recommend.
Very nice old pub, May be built in the year 1000. With large car park. Plenty of room inside and many tables and benches outside. Sit in the beautiful village of Holywell, by the river.
Had a great lunch on a Monday! Even did a bit of fly fishing and caught a fish as long as my arm? Just up the road is the Holywell church and you can even see the Holywell in the church yard.
Quaint character pub, great pub grub and amazingly helpful staff, well done all. Had an overnight stay here, top marks to staff member Sam a credit to the company
I adore this beautiful pub. I just went on my own hoping for a relaxed soft drink alone by the river and a walk - and it delivered perfectly. Nice down-to-Earth welcoming staff, comfortable, clean outdoor furniture to sit on, perfect peace and quiet. Highly recommended.
Been a few years since I was last at this lovely old pub and wasn't disappointed. The three of us were treated to some excellent dishes . My starter of the beetroot ravioli was ace , the Steak and Ale pie was tasty but the star of the show for me was the chocolate brownie with ice cream absolutely scrumptious is the only way to describe it . The only letdown on the night was the after dinner coffees which were not to our taste . That's a minor grouse as the food was excellent. Thankyou Ferry Boat for an enjoyable evening , also the staff were very friendly and made us welcome .
A must visit for anyone looking for a good classic pub serving hearty pub-grub meals, a really beautiful location next to the river.
You can choose to sit indoors or out, both offering plenty of space and seating. The interior is absolutely fantastic, a really authentic old English pub, this alone was worth the visit. It's a really beautiful place.
So start I ordered the Muscles and was not disappointed, served with a nice broth, a slice of bread and a decent amount of them, served nice and hot and very tasty.
For the main I got the Sea Bass Risotto, with Scallops and Prawns. Very tasty, although I think it could have been slightly better if the risotto was served with the Arborio rice, this was served with standard rice which let it down a bit. The risotto itself could have also used a bit more flavor, but thankfully the fish and the scallops were very tasty and made up for that.
Overall, I'd rate my particular food a 4 out of 5, but I'm whacking it up to a 5 out of 5 just because of the fantastic location, feel and atmospheric attraction that the pub provided.
I inspected some other items from the menu as well such as the lamb shoulder, fish and chips and steaks. I have to say l, these were delicious. It could just be the Risotto that needs a little bit of modifying to meet the standards of the rest.
Overall though, lovely food, lovely location and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return again.
Really nice pub on the river Bank. Stopped here during a cycling trip and had a really nice lunch. If it was close to where I live I'd go there all the time.
If someone said describe a British country pub this is it 😁
I live in Holywell, St Ives. The Old Ferryboat Inn is one of the oldest pubs in England, if not the oldest, and has been there for nearly 1000 years. It’s in a beautiful setting by the river but had been neglected over recent years. But all that has changed since the new landlady Claire took over. The whole place has been refurbished and the pub is once again welcoming and is much used by locals and visitors. The staff are all helpful and competent and the food is good and available all day. There are hotel rooms available too.
Various events take place in the function room from dinners, art exhibitions and music events.
We couldn’t ask for a better village pub.
This is one of the best local pubs that I have been to in a very long time. The staff were exceptional, especially this great lad called jack. Very helpful for recommending food when I was struggling to pick what I wanted to eat. The food did not disappoint me in the slightest. I had the Crispy chicken basket, and it was some of the best chicken I have had. My mate popped down as well to grab a pint and he came down with his dog and jack was very helpful with supplying his dog with a bowl of water, and overall a very pet friendly pub. Highly recommend!!
Great atmosphere...snug pub! Food is good and staff are friendly and helpful. And you can take your well behaved fur babies. Rooms are clean and a comfy bed too! A couple more sachets of coffee, sugar and milk would be great 👍
Beautiful Inn, steeped in history, stunning location. Just visited for lunch and were warmly welcomed by Claire and her team. The service was pretty quick, considering there were only 2 people behind the bar, who were also serving meals. Our meals were delicious, fresh and piping hot. We will definitely be back, hopefully with an overnight stay! Thank you Claire & team.
Today had lunch at this very pleasant pub. Food was excellent and staff really friendly. I chose the spicy chicken in a basket. It was delicious. Because we waited a little longer for our meal we were offered free desserts. Shall certainly be returning.
A lovely old pub located next to the river Ouse. Lots of character and atmosphere. Really good beer and the food is good, tasty pub grub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My only criticism is that it took a bit of time before our food order was taken but after that, the service was prompt. Will definitely return.
