What a lovely little find! Welcomed at the door by Max and the place is dog friendly too! I had a pot of tea and a chocolate cupcake. I don't eat them often but it was flippin lush! Bobby dog loved it aswell. Well what self respecting Collie would say no to a sausage!! We'll definitely go back as we were made very welcome indeed!

I obtained Max's details from the Inspire Network & she catered at short notice for my dad's funeral & did the most amazing job - I really can't recommend her highly enough. None of Max's food was shop bought but was all prepared & cooked from scratch with love & care. Max asked me just before the funeral what dad's favourite food was & when I told her it was chocolate, she made chocolate cup cakes, at her own expense, as her own tribute despite never having met him. Max was an absolute joy to deal with at a difficult time & she did my dad proud. Thank you x

Delicious pork dips for lunch today at Tea Cake Max. Pork was meltingly soft and tender and the gravy was to die for. Pot of tea to go with it and then ice creams all round! A very satisfied little family today! Max we will definitely be back soon. (Also took coffee and walnut cakes, fruit scones and a family corned beef pie home)

Dog friendly with a warm welcome from Max. Amazing freshly made food: pies, quiche, cakes, sandwiches and ice cream and, best of all, it's open on my way to work so I don't have to worry about making packed lunches!

I class myself as a bit of a cafe expert, I'm a keen cyclist and spend lots of time in them... So what's my idea of the perfect cafe??? Small, very friendly, quality food, exceptional value... You'll get all this at the Fantastically named "Tea Cake Max"... I'm originally from the area but now live in Yorkshire and called in whilst on holiday visiting family... You get a lovely welcome from Maxine who by the way will never be rich charging the small tariffs she does for her delicious menu...I had a lovely cheese/mushroom flan followed by a massive slice of delicious chocolate cake with ice cream...nom nom... My dog Tillie (dogs welcome) had a sausage...I was even allowed to pick up the cafes guitar and sing a song.. Unfortunately I'm going to miss the famous great value Sunday lunches as I'm going home the day before... Wish I could move this cafe to Yorkshire so I could call in every day... Brilliant :

Nice little cafe. We sat outside at the table. Coffee, Hot Chocolate and lovely chocolate crispy cake with marshmallows and peanut chocolates. Large slices as well (but containing zero calories according to the lovely owner).

So pleased I had 1 too many and couldn't be bothered to cook a roast dinner. Delicious roast at a great price. Home made Yorkshires and crunchy crackling! Such a friendly woman and fantastic cook. I'll definitely be back. Can't wait to try the cakes.

We loved our first visit here today with our pair of cocker Spaniels. Lovely warm and friendly welcome for humans and treats for the dogs. Great homemade food at very reasonable prices. We particularly enjoyed the homemade gluten free coconut lime and elderflower cake. Will make this our regular halfway halt.
