Proper gastro pub with lovely lively staff and a nice crowd. Menu changes every week with a delight of different mouth watering dishes. Seating inside and outside. Try to go here nearly every Sunday for lunch, never boring and the drive from Salford to Holmbridge is a real treat out via various routes. Recently carvery started upstairs, but we always try the a la carte menu or one of the daily specials. Amazing Sunday roasts, truly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous service, Michael was immediately helpful and organised some good even though the kitchen had just shut. The vanilla stout is brilliant too, as is the blonde ale. What a great combination of great service, ales and food 😎

Food and beer is fantastic, although I have to say that the vanilla stout is an acquired taste 👍

Had another lovely meal here on Sunday with Janet Marsden. Great food, a very nice American pale ale, friendly and efficient staff. What's not to like. We will certainly be back.

A great pint of American Pale Ale to wash down a very well prepared steak and blue cheese sandwich. Yum!

Great night away at The Pickled Pheasant. We stayed in the Grouse room with our dog and it was lovely. We had dinner and breakfast in the pub and both were great. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Nicholas the manager was great, and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine as he knew the trip was a birthday gift. We did 2 of the walks from the helpful booklet given to us by the pub. Both well explained and beautiful scenery all around. I am sure we will be back!

Very nice place to be . Good service in the bar area. Plenty of food and drinks choices. Food quality was average however the presentation was above average. Serving size was generous. Perhaps the main menu is of higher quality but was not sampled on this occasion. Around £10 for a hot sandwich. Average value overall . Good to find a pub open midweek during the day. Helps that it is also a hotel. We would return.

Beautiful decor, welcoming staff, dog friendly, lovely food. Rooms look nice on website although we didn't stay there - also accommodates dogs. Will definitely return upon next visit to Yorkshire.

We stayed at the Pickled Pheasant for one night while visiting friends in Holmfirth and it was absolutely stunning. From the room to the breakfast, everything was well done out and you could see the level of care that was put in. We'll definitely be booking back in on our next trip to Holmfirth. A total must stay.

We recently celebrated a special birthday with 19 guests in the private dining room upstairs. Nicholas and his team made the lunch an incredible and pleasurable experience. From first meeting with Nicholas to discussing the plans all the way through to him organising a cake and table decorations, the experience was superb! The team on the day could not have been more helpful, attentive and professional. A true credit as to the premises. If you are looking for amazing food with a great atmosphere and impeccable service this is the place to go. Thank you to the entire team. Simply fantastic!

The food was delicious with really generous portion sizes. You are best off booking as it gets busy (but doesn’t feel crowded). I would definitely recommend a visit and will be returning soon!

Superb evening meal. Staff friendly. Room was amazing. Very clean and cosy. Shame we had to leave early and miss breakfast but we'll be back. We stayed in the Partridge room.

Quick bite to eat after a walk at Digley Reservoir, a very nice choice of food, not your typical pub grub, some of the favourites but with a twist, lovely surroundings, mid afternoon sun streaming through the windows. A bit too chilly to sit outside in the beer garden, but it looked inviting , it's definitely on my list to go again 👍

What a gem - could not fault this gastro pub and rooms. Stunning food and large portions. Beautiful room with log burner and great hospitality. Very dog friendly too - even had a dog bed, bowls and treats in his own corner of the room (wish we had brought him now!)

Absolutely fantastic stay. The setting for the Pickled Pheasant is beautiful, and not too far to walk to a couple other pubs, a local shop etc should you want to explore further. The pub has plenty of outside seating overlooking the views, which as we were lucky enough to stay on a sunny weekend, we took advantage of. The room was lovely (we stayed in the Grouse), and was the luxury room we had hoped for, so comfy and clean - we didn't bring dogs, but it was clear that this would be a very dog friendly stay. We chose to eat in the restaurant in the evening, and I would definitely recommend doing this, the food was absolutely fantastic, I will be thinking about that blue cheese sauce for a while and the steak was cooked perfectly! Breakfast the next day was also fantastic, the veggie sausages were spot on. One of the most pleasant aspects of our stay is the staff here are fantastic, they are so attentive and it is some of the best customer service we have had in a long time. I am not sure of the managers name, or some of the ladies working alongside him during our stay, but they really made our stay there feel special. There is a smooth systematic approach to the running of the pub, but still hospitable. We will definitely be hoping to return, it was the refresh we needed.
