Absolutely gorgeous pub. We were blown away by the work done to preserve the murals and share the history. Also, the ladies room is worth a visit on its own 😂 Absolutely beautiful restoration work.

Had the pleasure of visiting the Star on many occasions over the last year, at different times and only once couldn't get a table for food (Saturday night) good really, so popular obviously. Ordered both at the bar and using witherspoon app, bang on , no faults, value for money, great service in an historic building, amazing history, wobbly floors upstairs lol, amazing toilets, great disabled facilities and outdoor space. Recommend give it a try.

Massive thank you Nikki who was our server last week when we visited. Her personality and bubbly character left a lasting impression on our group. What a great member of staff to have on your team

Slightly better than your standard spoons. Always had everything I've ordered. Usual sticky tables and not enough menus and a billion empty condiment bottles so you have to scavenge off others. Come the apocalypse it's these people you want on your team for their ability to find and obtain the smallest quantity of sauce from a bottle in a spoons. It has a large beer garden which is great in the summer and hats off to the hard working staff there.

Lovely place to eat. Needs more parking at back. Lots of places to eat. Food portions not huge. But reasonably priced.

Have been to the Star many times; have had a couple of bad experiences due to one member of staff. On this occasion, the place was packed: pre-drinks, family dinner. Ordered dinner & drinks for 2 on the app and everything was great! Food especially delicious. Only gave 4 stars because of a couple of previous bad experiences.

This is a very busy pub and you may need to wait for a table. The pub is nicely decorated and they serve good food at a great price. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, on my previous two visits the meal I wanted had been sold out which is disappointing.

Nice atmosphere & good food. Not many places where you can get a 2x giant EmpireStake burger meals, 2x sides of halloumi & coleslaw, plus two pints for under £30

Used to work for them so the amount of positivity and engagement from the staff and the manager who seems like a local pillar of the community is amazing.

Not our local. Service was great both for drinks and food service. A "Thank you" to one of the female serving team, who kindly returned just delivered food to the pass to keep warm after a fainting incident with a family member. There was no "ermms, I'm not sure" it was done with an "of course! No problems".
