A very fine pub with a food quality that matches the best. Run with enthusiasm and great professionalism by Carol and Marc Perkins.
Judi and I first went with our friend, Philip in March 2007, to celebrate his and my birthdays. (Needless to say we have returned since on several occasions!)
Philip and I started with a delightful red onion tart (judi forwent a starter). Philip ordered the venison steak with rosti potatoes and a red wine sauce, Judi chose calves' liver (soft and delicious!) and I opted for the lumpfish tail wrapped in bacon with a creamy sauce, served on beetroot mash. YUMMY!
The menu changes frequently and the food has never disappointed. Such quality of food and wine is still a rarity in this part of the world, though it seems more common in the west of the country.

The Prince of Wales is a little gem. There is a lovely garden for Al fresco eating. As soon as you walk in the door you feel a friendly ambience being greeted immediately by a member of staff. The inside is decorated beautifully. The meals were absolutely delicious, there was seven of us and we all enjoyed every dish we ate. All the staff were attentive and friendly. We had an excellent evening here. Thank you. 😊
Really nice country pub serving great food. Stopped in on my way through the area for dinner. Had the pork with a side of garlic chiabatta and lemon cheesecake, nice sizeable portions, pork was amazingly cooked and flavourful with roast vegetables and sweet potato mash drizzled with sauce. The garlic bread was crispy with a soft centre just the right amount of oil stuffed with cheese. The cheesecake was so so good, soft base and fluffy top, wanted to order seconds of everything! Bar maid/FOH was really nice and cheery, which is a rarity these days, music on in the back ground and a lovely atmosphere. Will certainly come here again if I'm in the area
Top foodie pub , lovely atmosphere and great food , special mention to Tom as he always goes above and beyond to try and accommodate people even at last minute .many thanks Steve .
Just had another amazing Sunday lunch at the best pub in Kent .
Such a fantastic restaurant - I was met with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. A wide range of drinks and a special note for the food. Absolutely exceptional and all cooked from hand using local produce. Will definitely return.
Food was beautiful, friendly servers, pub a tad noisy but they did apologise and noise level died down very quickly. Really enjoyed my mussels but would have preferred bread over chips to enjoy the sauce of the mussels! Husband said the steak was perfectly season and cooked to his liking, Will definitely be going back
Found this lovely pub on the way back from Canterbury. Great outside garden and well laid out comfortable dining areas inside. Service willing and friendly. I even saw a member of staff polishing glasses which I must admit i have not seen for a while! Had a very good ploughmans lunch and a pint -very good. Will visit to try the full lunch/dinner menu another time! Highly recommended
Second time coming here and it gets better. The food was amazing just the right portion sizes. Not too long a wait when it tastes that good. Would highly recommend here book early.
There is a lot to like and recommend. The service is exemplary and leave room for the desserts! The Sunday lunch option of cauliflower cheese at no extra cost is a nice touch. With a little bit of improvement it could be truly fantastic. I'm talking about the roast potatoes. Nice enough but could be much crisper outside and fluffier inside if par boiled first and the surface roughed with a fork before roasting. The beef also needed to be sliced much thinner in order to avoid a major jaw workout.
Visited on a Saturday night with friends, this was my first visit and am looking forward to going back, all the meals were fantastic ( I had the chicken supreme) and at about £16 a plate great value too
Had an amazing meal last night at the Prince of Wales. (Mushroom soup for starters and Chicken / Halloumi Burgers for Mains) We couldn't fault the food at all. It was cooked perfectly and was so tasty! Great size, great price and all freshly made by the chef which is very obvious in the taste and presentation. 😊 Staff were very friendly and attentive. All members of staff made sure we was happy with our meal , we had enough drinks, dessert menu etc but without being too much. Atmosphere was happy, friendly and for a Thursday night, busy! Good selection of wines. There is a lovely outside area, lots of seating. There's a little basket in the ladies toilets - great idea! Toilets were very clean . Love that you have a basket of blankets for those who may feel the chill. Decor was lovely and perfect for a little village Pub. Dog Friendly too. Overall we loved our visit to the Prince of Wales and will defiantly be returning. Highly recommend!
