Lovely refurbished traditional looking pub. Food was OK, the ribs were a bit tough but the steak and ale pie was good. Chips were suspiciously like the skin on frozen ones in Aldis Specially Selected bags. Would be nice if they were freshly made instead for such a traditional pub. Drinks selection was varied but very expensive for a country pub. £6.50 a Buxton IPA and £5.30 for a cask Butty Bach makes it one of the most expensive cask beers I've paid and that's coming from purchasing in Cheshire pubs! Service was plentiful with lots of pleasant staff.
What an absolutely fantastic hidden gem.. The new owners have really delivered. The food is 10 stars !! out of this world quality and taste at a great price. The staff are amazing and the whole ambiance of the place is fantastic. I highly recommend if you are are looking for a great place to eat and drink.
Went for a meal here on a Saturday evening, seemed fairly busy, and 18 of us in total. We had heard that the service was slow, so had booked early at 5pm, but also because we had 8 little kiddos that needed to be fed early and we were camping at Tresseck campsite, a 2 min walk away. But the menu had masses to offer, the service was really quite quick, and the plates a great size. I had the cider braised ham and chicken salad, and it was delicious, a great size for the price (£13) and lots of different yummy choices like stuffed peppers, homemade coleslaw and crunchy onion topping mixed in. Others in the party had burgers (very nice, quite large; a vegan option available) and the lamb (really lovely, especially with a bright and zingy orange and parsnip veloute mash thing). The hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely outside dining at the back, under a grapevine covered pergola area, and a pretty beer garden full of cosmos and rudbeckia flowers, with a stream at the end (beware the crocodile!!) Thank you for looking after us x
Had a lovely lunch out with family lovely place food was good staff friendly location is lovely lotsof things for kids to play
Stopped in for a drink while camping nearby. Really pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of local ales. The bar staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the Chef even made time to chat and make sure our youngest family members were enjoying themselves. Worth a visit!
These new owners are wonderful. Myself and my partner celebrated our 4 year anniversary there on Monday. Great service. Deliscious food. And we felt so welcomed. We will absolutely be returning.
Food was lovely, and grateful for food being served on a Sunday. Good selection of beers. Staff friendly. Close to some lovely walks and stop for canoe/kayak goers. Atmosphere ruined on both nights by ?locals, playing loud awful music from their phones for every one else to hear. Generally rowdy and unpleasant people. Would not return if they were present and shame no one had a word.
Excellent service, friendly people and fabulous food. A delightful pub by the river Wye and close to the Hoarworthy circular walk. A good selection of gin beer and cider and soft drinks plus a varied menu that is delicious and came quickly (and all together) after our order was placed as a large group . It has the added plus of containing a small selection of household essentials in the small shop located inside the pub.
Came in here for a quick drink yesterday afternoon. Great selection of drinks. Lots of seating available inside and outside. Might have had something to do with the torrential rain. Anyway lots of parking as well. Can't comment on the food as didn't have any. But I have friends or live close by who have been a few times and would just class it as above average and traditional pub food.
Lovely Wye Valley beers. Food was awesome - loved my brisket. The chef has a wicked sense of humour too (with the customers, not the food). Recommended.
Such a friendly place to go for drinks and food. Very welcoming to families and dogs owners. The food is delicious and generous size portions and not over priced. The service wonderful. Can't fault a thing, definitely recommend The new harp Inn.
Excellent meal. Such a varied and unusual menu, a credit to the chef. Front of house were excellent on a busy night and the food was wonderful. Nice beer garden at the back also. I always come here on last night of holiday to finish on a high, and it never let's me down. Oh, and the throw back Thursday Arctic roll was brilliant tonight. Supposed to be for kids, but too good to waste on them.
Went for a birthday lunch and was very pleased!
Nice garden to enjoy a drink and food with some sensible choices - oh and the plates are spectacular!
Off the beaten track so to speak but in a lovely setting and the best bit... no mobile signal!!!!!
Average price but above average food quality with friendly helpful service.
A nice afternoon.
Adam :)
Stopped here after kayaking from Lucksall caravan park, had the gammon steak with pineapple after the chef recommended it, trust me this is the best I've ever eaten, the steak is a proper steak not some slim slaver.
The sauce was amazing, you cut through the gammon like a top end sirloin steak. They had amazing onion ring stack too.
I had the sticky toffee pudding with some gorgeous home made ice cream.
The Guinness was lovely too.
The chef was very friendly and helpful in his recommendations.
Highly recommend.
Delicious lunchtime meal from short menu, cooked by a friendly and passionate top quality chef. Caribbean curry was amazing and selection of desserts all superb
So, my wife and I like good, wholesome food and we eat well and mostly very healthily. But from time to time we like to go out for 'beer and chips' In fact we consider ourselves chip connoisseurs LOL
We rate them as follows:-
1. Crispness
2. Temperature
3. Quantity
4. Colour
5. Texture
6. Chip size
Over the last 5 years, we have tried most pubs in South Herefordshire....(or so it seems)
The New Harp Inn at Hoarwithy beats all of them hands down 👍
Their chips are truly fantastic and if you get the chance try them.
Since Simeon and Kaytie took over the management of this pub, the quality of food has increased 10 fold
Special thanks to Debra for serving us last night with a smile, efficiency and warmth 👍
