The Strathmore Arms - Hitchin - Photo album

A characterful pub on the fringe of Whitwell. Always a choice of good quality, proper cask beer on offer. Danny keeps the beer well, and he and the village regulars are always welcoming. Have never eaten there, but what emerges from the kitchen looks good. I believe you have to book as the Strathmo
A small country pub offering cask and craft ales. Limited food offered Tuesday to Friday lunchtimes. Check opening times before visiting. Ale Festival end of June.
Really nice country pub. Loved sitting in the garden, and having a barbecue available on the day we went was a welcome bonus. Lots of dogs - very dog-friendly and friendly people. Fab place to have a refreshing beverage after a walk in the surrounding countryside.
Country pubs used to be like this. Visit now before it’s too late. The parish church is just behind the pub and has connections to the late Queen Mother.
A rare and wonderful village pub. Nothing flash or fancy just good beers, ales and ciders. Friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely free house pub! Great selection of real ales and super friendly staff. Definitely dog friendly! 😁 Signs up for their annual beer festival as well and although haven't been before would definitely say it's worth a punt!
My brother and I stopped here after a motorbike ride. Nothing fancy, basic but welcoming and a proper old school village pub. in a world where all pubs are edging to be carbon copies of each other I don't see that necessarily as a bad thing as it has it's own character. The beer is very well kept an
An unspoilt basic country pub offering changing range of real ales and an annual beer festival at the end of June. Good basic pub food is available Tuesday to Friday lunchtimes.
Meeting with an ex work coĺeague. Very pleasant pint or two, there are always at least 4 or 5 different ales available from ever changing breweries. I do not know how he does it? Good small choice of food, but always served up quickly and always enjoyable. Host is welcoming and friendly and customer

Here for the great beer festival last weekend. Had a wonderful time. A great traditional country pub with great ales and interesting food. The Woodshed were great. A brilliant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Stopped at the Strathmore after a lovely ride around the local area. Great beer - obviously a well looked after establishment. It certainly quenched the thirst I had built up!
What a fabulous pub.Wonderful choice of beers ,4real ales to chose from plus a craft beer. The food was just what a pub should be ,nothing fancy, just real pub grub (the best chips in Hertfordshire). Fantastic pub, plus brilliant chap behind the bar
The Strathmore Arms is a gem, led by between Landlord and footballer Danny. Danny's beer choice and keeping is top form. Samosas, and sometimes cheese platters are available. Ask Danny about meals. The late Queen mother grew up here as a young girl. The countryside and walks here are spectacular.
I have just seen the review from Russ Hedger and to be honest I was really suprised. The Strathmore arms has been my local for over 12 years and as a pub owned by the Bowes Lyon estate serves as a great no nonsense regular for the community and surrounding areas, with the very hospitable landlord Da
This pub is one of best villge pubs in north east. While most pubs in towns these days are trendy chain pubs serving lager that tastes like cats pea with awful high up tables and most village pubs are either snobby or boarded up. Thankfully this pub is getting anew lease of life. Tried the real ale,
An amazing selection of beers in a good old fashion English pub
Olde worlde pub with great service. Fabulous range or ales. Check opening times before rocking up but make sure you visit if you like real or craft ale.
