Old pub, decor doesn't seem to have changed in at least 20 years, not sure the menu has changed much either!
That said, very nice food once we got it (ended up ordering at the bar as wasn't sure if the waiting staff were meant to be taking orders, but having waited some time to be approached we got fed up and went to order at the bar).
Food came out quite quickly despite the place being quite busy (might have been the end of the lunch rush). Very generous sized portions, very good quality meat (my wife was pleasantly surprised with the amount of meat on her lamb chops!)
Ordered a 2nd drink but had to chase it up after about 10 mins as it hadn't arrived!
Didn't have room for dessert so can't comment on those.
Would return, definitely recommend booking a table otherwise you may be disappointed if it is a busy Saturday! Some aspects of the service could have been a bit better but overall a good experience.
Amazing!
The day before was Mother's day had such a poor service and meal at another restaurant I took my mum out to make up for it.
We hadn't been to The Raven for a few years, its high standards haven't changed, maybe got better.
Had gammon steak, and chicken wings n ribs, freshly cooked to perfection.
The desserts were so good we started eating them before I realised I haven't taken a photo.
The manager and his team are spot on, very welcoming and friendly, already looking forward to our next visit.
Can not recommend enough, you will not be disappointed!
Very decent, tasty and sensible priced food. Nice village pub with beer garden and children playground. Inside deco is a bit outdated, but clean with nice vibe . Very friendly and helpful staff. ✌️ Nice surprise.✌️
Amazing pub/restaurant. The service and food was faultless, true proper sized meals.
Fabulous atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff with a delicious menu. Always a bonus for us, dog friendly.
It was my first visit to The Raven but it most definitely won't be my last. With the large and varied choice of menu it was difficult to choose. Ann, the waitress was delightful and helped us with our choices. She made sure we had everything we needed, making it a more enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the portion size was generous, the prices were reasonable too. I look forward to returning so I can work my way through the menu. A great evening from start to finish!
The staff here are always so lovely, they are welcoming and attend to you quickly, taking drink orders and allowing you time to look at the menu.
The food is always good here, I've been coming in for many years and we've never had a bad meal or complaint about the food.
My only complaint is that the tables are a little too close together. I understand wanting to have as many customers as possible, but don't squish so many tables and chairs in please
I liked it a lot, had a nice leisurely family meal. Good quality pub food with generous portions. Staff were all very good, polite and well organised.
This was my first time eating at the Raven after lockdown, and I am pleased to report it's just as nice as I remember. My go-to pub meal is usually scampi and Chips and this was nicely cooked with crunchy chips and a decent little salad. Dessert was syrup sponge and the waitress helpfully substituted one portions custard with ice cream. The Raven is a nice stop off if you are doing one of the numerous walks in the area, especially in the warmer weather as it has a decent sized garden with seating.
It was an enjoyable time and the food and service was excellent .
The only criticism I have is I am disabled and I walk with a crutch .I didn't feel 100% safe walking through the disabled garden entrance which wasn't a flat surface. Also the ramp into the restaurant looked worn at the edges which could cause an accident, the top part wasn't level with the entrance.I also wonder what it would be like in the rain .I feel more thought should be given to this area .
