Without a doubt the best site to take coffe in hitchin. A charming place where they serve different types of incredible coffee and delicious cakes ... the decaff is totally incredible, even with more flavor than the normal coffee! and the owner's treatment is honestly very friendly ... thanks James! See you soon

If you are a coffee lover, you need to go. No matter where you are in the country. If you are not a coffee lover, you will be. If you want decent chat with a friendly owner of a local business then this is the place to go.

I live down in Kent, and a good friend always buys me a couple of bags of your fine coffee when he comes down. He's just brought this one as I wanted something to wake me up in the morning! Lovely brew!

The father of Wakelin and Son is very helpful and always ready to discuss the finer points of coffee, fatherhood or life in general. The son is cute but not much help in selecting a blend for Saturday after dinner. I expect he will improve over time though.

I used Wakelins of Hitchin for catering for my 30th birthday, knowing what a great cook James is. James did sandwiches for my afternoon tea which were excellent but they were totally eclipsed by the evening food. At James' suggestion we had macaroni cheese with pulled pork. All of my guests loved it and haven't stopped talking about it! Perfect warm hearty food on a chilly evening. James was so helpful from the outset, giving me ideas and he worked so hard along with his wife Jennie to get everybody fed. I wouldn't hesitate to use him for any event in the future. The coffee is also fabulous. I love poping by for a chat & nose around the lovely stall. James is a fountain of coffee knowledge!

Love the atmosphere of the coffee shop. Coffee is usually made to perfection, the batistas really know their stuff. Very reasonable prices, probably the best value for money in Hitchin. Great for working remotely or just popping in for a quick coffee/ bite. The entrance isn't very child friendly but the interior actually is.

Brilliant place, in a town full of cafes and coffeeshops, this one stands out the most. Lovely coffee (even can get it in a pint), welcoming vibe, and also VERY reasonable price for the quality. £2.50 for a very tasty iced latte with any syrup is unbelievably good Others can't compare!

Had a lovely coffee and cake here, it's a nice spot. They didn't have one of the items we ordered, so they gave us a free brownie to make up for it, amazing service so 5* from me

Superb coffee and just a really lovely place to hang out. James' knowledge of coffee is second to none and he has a great selection of coffee. You can also buy ground coffee or beans here, which we do because it is much cheaper than anywhere else. There is also a selection of board games to keep the little ones (and big ones!) entertained while you have your drink.

We love Wakelin & Son. Such a friendly, comfortable and relaxing vibe. Coffee is always good, and recommend sampling different treats on offer. Today the mushroom pizza was particularly tasty. It's the perfect place to catch up with friends and dog friendly too

Have been using James for the last 3-4 months, great coffee first and foremost, very well organised and efficient as well as good value. He knew my order after the 3rd or 4th visit, always a warm welcome and met some nice punters in there, too. There are lots of good places for coffee in Hitchin, James is definitely one of the best.

A great hidden away coffee shop. Friendly service, good coffee (and a variety of types) and excellent home made cake. It wasn't very busy when I was there for seating, although there was a steady stream of customers.

Favourite local coffee spot by far! Wonderful selection of beans from across the world, regular, unusual and tasty specialities. Love the ethics behind their ‘bring your own bag’ for coffee to take home with you... A discount offered if you cut out the unnecessary packaging. Also a brilliant ‘mug amnesty’ collection, to avoid those pesky single-use cups. Scrumptious homemade cakes, tea selection, quirky soft drinks and weekend pop-up street food. Friendly people and dogs!

Great coffees, inventive and different snacks. Love the mismatched crockery and eclectic decor. Always super friendly and very reasonable for artisan coffee

Unfussy and relaxed coffee shop. A hidden gem for locals, worth going to instead of the shops on the High Street. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.

James and his team serve exceptional coffee, with a natural personal touch you just don't get in a chain. Coupled with a great knowledge of their product a wide selection of beans to take home and a great venue. Wakelin and Son is one not to be missed if you find yourself in Hitchin
