Great lunch for my son and I. We arrived at 1:50 and escorted to a table of our choice. Our waiter was charm and smiles personified. The service was efficient and caring. Our food delicious as expected.

Just spent my birthday weekend at The Hermitage Bar. 10 of us took part in a cocktail making class. The venue itself is modern and has a fantastic vibe. We had great communication upon booking with Tara and on the day had our own room which was all set up ready when we arrived. We made 3 cocktails each along with having an entrance drink and prosecco to finish with food platters for £38 which I thought was brilliant. Sam and Tom, our hosts were fantastic so polite and patient and even helped change the drink choice with a few fussy people. 10 drunk women... the poor guys. They never made us feel rushed and always catered for our needs. We took our own cake and decorations and they ensured we drank lots of water throughout. We went down into the car area after and carried on drinking. This was a fantastic thing to do for a birthday or hen do and we will definitely be back.
Delicious 3 course Mothers' Day dinner, plenty of variety and hard to choose as every dish sounded so scrummy. And it was! Didn't feel rushed at all and the service was excellent. Quite a gap between starter and main but I didn't mind that at all as it gave us time to properly digest before starting again. I had the manchego cheese arancini, followed by rump of lamb which was so beautifully cooked, with herby puréed potatoes to die for. Desert was a coconut mousse with grilled pineapple - great combination of flavours and light and refreshing. Happy mummy 😊😊😊
Booked over the phone with Tara she was very organized and polite. Arrived at 12 and was greeted by Michael he showed us to our table was very welcoming very polite and professional � It was my ninth anniversary the food was exceptional the belly pork was amazing so was the flat iron steak which my wife chose. We then had a fantastic dessert which they put happy anniversary on the plate with a nice sparkler. The cocktails were also very tasty. Would definitely recommend 5*. Thank you so much we definitely going back again !! �
My family visited the restaurant to celebrate my husbands 75th birthday. We had excellent service and wonderful food. The staff did there best to make sure we were well looked after. Thank you to all staff for your great establishment.

There are loads of really good places to eat in Hitchin yet I keep coming back to the Herm. It might be a little expensive but you better believe it’s worth it!

Really lovely Sunday lunch, beautifuly cooked - but chargeing £1.50 for a thimble of Elderflower cordial is frankly ridiculous don't you think?

The best food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Fresh, delicious, beautifully presented. Large portion. I felt special on the date because the place is very cozy, beautiful and atmospheric. I also had the pleasure of tasting drinks from the bar. Also delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend the Hermitage Rd Bar Restaurant. The food is worth the price it is delicious. You won't regret visiting this place.❤️❤️❤️
Amazing place! Great atmosphere with industrial decor. Good choice of food specially fish and sea food. Zodiac cocktails were fantastic. My libra drink was based on gin, loved it. Everything cooked perfectly and looked very classy. 100% coming back there for a dinner. Even bathroom was beautiful. Highly recommend to everyone!

My only suggestion would be, invest in Dairy Free alternatives? As someone with a Dairy Allergy, some Dairy Free butter would have been lovely with the Mushrooms on Toast?

The atmosphere is lovely and I think this is one of Hermitage's selling point. The food itself does not justify the cost. It's usually a hit & miss but what they didn't seem to miss on most recently was putting a lot of garlic on their dishes. Our scallops were served room temp and undercooked. The apple juice was out-of-date-- or at least, that's what it tasted like as per 2 adults and 1 child on the table. This was replaced promptly but is still alarming.
The staff are a mix of young, vibrant hosts. The toilets are always clean and well-stocked.
We like Hermitage and we've dined here about 5 times now but it almost usually feels like a lottery whether you catch the service on a good day or not.
Great looking restaurant/event space. We popped in on a Saturday for lunch. It was very busy, but the hostess was great at setting expectations as the kitchen was very busy. We sat at the bar to start and had a cocktail. I particularly liked the Capricorn Cocktail. When they were able, they moved us to a table. My OH had the Bavette steak once we were set and I had the Gochujang and Honey chicken. The chips that came with the steak were fantastic. I liked the chicken, it was quite a large portion. Well spiced, though I wish the rice had been more coconut forward. Would definitely come back again if I was in the area.

I must mention the staff. English staff and the people seemed to enjoy their job. They were very welcoming, friendly and happy. It's rare to find a place where employees do their job so enthusiastically.

Brilliant food, fantastic service and great venue. Chairs are comfortable and there is no rush. Coravin wine is an excellent touch in addition to a great wine list.

The vegan options are honestly disappointing. It feels as though vegans are disregard with basic options which are not good value. I would love to see the next revised menu with interesting and intriguing vegan options, as many of my family and friends love the herm, but as a vegan I am not excited about any of the food available. I have given the 5 stars I feel the hermitage deserves, from the service and atmosphere, with the hope of an enticing vegan menu in the future.
Great food, excellent service. First time, definitely will be back. Found parking in street just in front, convenient. Plenty of space inside, I love it when you can see the kitchen.
The restaurant is very spacious and has a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Norfolk chicken for main and we had to have the sweet board for dessert.
