Had a Xmas drink.....well....OK....4 or 5.....wasn't counting !!, with my cousin David, yesterday. The Red Lion, Histon under the stewardship of Mark Donachy, has got to be the very best Real Ale Pub in the Cambridge Area !! Mark's passion for providing a good constant & ever changing selection of the very best available Real Ales for his customers, is Second to None !! His Annual Beer Fest is also a very good Calendar Date not to be missed !! Nothing is too much for him to organise....I believe he relishes the challenge of getting in all these Ales, from all over, for us to try ! Long may it continue !! So, if you're a Real Ale Drinker & looking for somewhere to come & drink some of the very best Real Ale, why don't you come to The Red Lion, Histon ?? You'll be most Welcome & you won't be disappointed with the Ale !! Cheers !! Merry Xmas & Happy New Year !!

A local friend recommended The Red Lion for drinks and also as a place to stay. I highly recommend both. My room was perfect, the service was great and the staff very accommodating.

The 5 of the 9 cask ales I tried were faultless and the smoked haddock fishcakes was probably the finest dish I have ever had in a pub . Made being beaten by Cambridge United later in the afternoon more bearable I can tell you !!

There was a great choice of well kept real ales on draught and both the food and convivial atmosphere were very good indeed.

The Red Lion has a lovely secure beer garden for kids to run around in. Went there last 3 days and was never to busy to find a seat in the sun. The moonshine cider they sell is a lovely one as well. Will defo go there again if in the area The staff seemed nice, there was no rubbish lying g around d and the ashtrays were emptied regularly

Apart from being a great pub ,with fantastic food and service..the Red Lion holds fond memories of my lovely Dad ..Ken Mayes who spent many a night there with his friends . I live in Menorca but always try to call in when in the UK.

I came up to Histon to meet friends and went to the beer festival a few weeks ago. What a brilliant place! Good service , good food and a good selection of interesting beers. I’d like to come back on an evening where there isn’t an event on as I think it would be a perfect winter pub!

Great pub in a lovely village. I stayed overnight. Good, clean accommodation. The room was comfy with plenty of space and a large bathroom. Staff were polite and helpful. Food was good too. All reasonably priced.

The Red lion in Histon is a fantastic place. The staff are friendly, and make you feel welcome. It's the kind of place you can go to and just relax and enjoy yourself. If you are going to eat I would recommend the chicken with the Korean sauce (be it the burger or the wings). And BTW they do a trivia evening on Tuesdays for charity.

Great room and excellent bar with a huge range of craft ales. No breakfast but there's a coffee shop (Stir) over the road which opens at 7:30

Had lunch this week at The Red Lion (May 2nd). Lovely meal. Really enjoyed it. The Pub is full of very interesting memorabilia including photos of my parents who kept the Pub in the early 70's, which l took!! Will return.

Nice pub in the centre of Histon with rooms available at the rear in a separate building. There's a good selection of Beers on tap, mainly local, and the whole interior is decorated with old pump badges and signs. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dogs are welcome.

My Wife and I have stayed here on 4 or 5 occasions while she was working away from home. The rooms are lovely, the staff are super friendly and the food is very good. If you are looking for a place to stop over in the area we can definitely recommend it.

Stumbled upon the Red Lion when the 4 pubs recommended by my hotel, which bizarrely doesn't even serve breakfast, turned out to be closed. Landlady Sheryl gave me a huge welcome, served me a fabulous bottle of wine and one of the best beef pies and mash I've ever eaten. Loved the decor too, loads of old enamel signs. Can highly recommend this little pub with huge character!

I enjoyed a great meal at The Red Lion when I went there for a Christmas party. The food from their Christmas menu was well prepared and delicious! The pub itself is easy to find in the centre of Histon. Parking can be an issue if it's busy (as it was when I went) but spaces can be found on nearby streets.
