Bit quiet for a Friday night but that could be the effect of New Year's Eve. Service was attentive, food came out in reasonable time and was piping hot. I went for the chef's take on KFC. I have to admit I love chicken but this was the best I have ever tasted. The portion was huge and the chicken coated in different ways, was served with fries, gravy, black country beans and a side salad with balsamic vinegar. This is by far the best pub meal I have ever had.
Fab lunch today..food was amazing..A very welcome change to have such a very different quirky menu. Would highly recommend a visit. Great play area for children too.
We decided to eat here last Saturday night it was quiet but made the staff very attentive, the food was awsome! (I must say we'd never eaten pickled onion onion rings but they were so tatsy!) Nice quirky place, will very eating again soon
Been here several times over the past few years. the first time we drove there to have a drink as I'd never been before. To decide where we would eat. Duck was on the menu so I wanted to stay. Although I never had the duck as the other menu choices were so delicious sounding. The food was divine. The service great. We were really pleased. We've eaten there for valentines day and a murder mystery evening. To be honest I can't fault the place. It's genuinely and honestly run, by people who actually want you too enjoy and part take in what they do. I want to work here! x
Were here last night for birthday celebrations with hubby and Mum & Dad, fantastic food!
amazing place totally mad and the only pub where you dont need to drink any alcohol to feel drunk you just have to look at the walls windows and doors lol
First time at the crooked house today , friendly staff and fantastic food. Thank you
great atmosphere hard working staff and proud to call them friends. We had our wedding reception here and could not of wished for a better time. If you like to sample different food or just want a bar menu with a friendly smile than the wonky house is the place to be....
Visited here for the first time and was impressed by its 'weirdness'.
Was welcomed as soon as we entered the pub and was shown the bottle trick.
Full of history.
It's a beautiful place but for me the biggest let down was the drive to the pub from the main road...not really a pleasant experience and not something I'd do at night that's for sure.
Still...I'd definitely come back again though, the pub itself is enough to draw you in.
Visited tonight for my sister and nephews birthday celebrations.
First time for food - in the new extended area.
Atmosphere and ambience were nice and relaxing.
A few items were missing off the menu but I was informed this was due to the menu being amended.
The sharing combo was a good size and enjoyable. Myself and my partner had T-Bone Steaks; my partner enjoyed his, unfortunately I didn't- however this was dealt with professionally and kindly by the staff and owner which was appreciated. The puddings were divine! Would definitely recommend the cheesecake 😋
Service staff were friendly and the owner was very welcoming and pleasant.
Would return.
What a quirky place!! Made me feel quite off balance. Staff were amazing, good pub fare. Worth a visit.
Not the easiest place for disabled people as my wife is on crutches but once in it's excellent. Leaving took a while and the staff are very very helpful. My wife had to go behind the bar to get out which was a great help.
Don't let the steps put you off coming here and make sure you do the marble trick.
Such a cool pub to visit! As soon as you walk in your senses are messed with and I felt quite disorientated walking around the property. The restaurant part is an add-on and so isn’t affected by the subsidence like the rest of the pub, and is quite square! Food was good and staff are friendly and happy to answer questions about the property and it’s ghosts… give it a visit, just take your time down the long and sorry looking approach road.
It's an extremely interesting venue. The track, it's little more than that is dreadful and I would advise against walking down it. It's long full of pot holes and in places very wet. The. Beer is nothing special but the building is remarkable and the welcome warm. There are so many unique features in the building including the marbles running up hill. .I definitely wouldn't want to have a skin full there as stone cold sober the building can disorient you.
The people running the pub which is also known as The Glynne Arms, are very upset by the treatment they have had over Marston Brewery 's sale of the place. It was suggested to me that the Brewery had a billion pounds to raise to get them out of a financial hole and the sale of all their high maintenance pubs was the answer with many publicans having made large long term commitments finding themselves out of a job, business and home. This of course may just be gossip. Make your own mind up.
Staff lovely. It's at the bottom of a long road. Just be careful driving on it, as it's the only way in n out. There isn't a lot of parking space. Food lush though!
Been dying to get here since pre-covid so was pretty excited to see this open again!
Route was a bit crazy to get there (driving through a mad little swamp land, felt a bit spooky in the dark!) but was thrilled once we arrived. The building itself is fantastic and hardly seems real. Loads of history and plenty of bits dotted around to read. Brill selection of drinks and overall really cosy feel.
Will definitely be coming back!
The Crooked House was very entertaining.
However the journey from the main road to the house was equally entertaining for completely different reasons.
The road had too many deep pot holes.
The amount of litter and rubbish strewn about and what appeared to be waste ground made us wonder were we visiting a council tip or recycle centre by mistake.
For a property with such a high and unique profile to be accessed down such a road was dissapointing.
Great food in a unique location!! We went on a Tuesday lunchtime, not sure if food would be available. Asked at the bar, and yes went through to the well appointed restaurant/conservatory, great choice on the menu. Had faggots and pays! and goats cheese salad, and a very fancy Italian ice cream desert with amaretto and espresso. Fine dining, black county style! Highly recommend, reduced hours at the moment best to check in advance
