Amazing food! One of the best meals we have had out for a long time. Beautiful fresh fish, lightly battered with minted peas and fresh chips and the burger with onion jam also delicious 😋. Will definitely be back soon!

My 7 year old daughter wanted me to write a 5 star review for the Hillside as she never enjoyed a meal so much! She had the kids pasta and popcorn chicken. We had the vegetarian lasagne and it was the best we have ever had. We called without a reservation on Saturday evening and the staff were really helpful and attentive. An excellent meal and great atmosphere. We will certainly be back when passing through.

Great, flavoursome food. Excellent sole with risotto from the specials board. Burgers were amazing. Steak sandwich excellent. Kids meals great. Many items on the menu are available as a gluten-free option on request. Great atmosphere. Very friendly, accommodating, and helpful staff. Excellent choice of beers. A proper pub!

Great wee spot in Hillsborough. Food was good, service efficient and managed to get a table on a Sunday late afternoon without booking. Dining area at the back is open and more contemporary with a more rustic and cosy bar area at the front with an open fire. Nice and quiet, no trouble hearing conversation, although I would like to experience the live music some time, which I believe is on Wednesday nights. Kids menu was especially good with a decent selection and good portion size. Prices overall were as I would expect, not cheap, but not overly expensive. Will go again.

A cosy, rustic setting in the beautiful Hillsborough. I'd give it 5 stars only my starter which was a ceasar salad, I found a little underwhelming. There was no chicken in it (I doubled checked the menu and there isn't any in it) and instead there was a lot of red onion which was a bit much. The sirloin steak was delicious, so tender and juicy when cooked medium. Salted caramel brownie for dessert was soft, sweet and just the right amount of saltiness. I would recommend and go back again.

It was ok wish they were a bit more creative when it comes to vegetarian food. Lasagna had a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish and the chips were of the frozen variety. My guest meal was soo much better and he really enjoyed it.

We had a really lovely Sunday lunch. Soup and prawn starter, both excellent. Chicken and cauliflower roast lunches, great, let down only by the roast potatoes and the slightly undercooked cauliflower. Friendly, helpful service from the young staff. It’s a lovely place, lots of charm. We’ll be back.

We were in for a meal and a few drinks on Sunday evening. It's so lovely to be able to sit in a pub setting like this and enjoy a fairly quiet evening without blasting music and the hussle and bussle of a mad restaurant. This place is just as nice as other pub restaurants in the area and no more or less expensive. The atmosphere inside is cosy and warm as the outside of the building would suggest it's going to be. The 4 of us had a nice meal and in the most part were waited upon without fuss or hassle. One member of waiting staff was rather blunt and to the point, not so much as to be rude but more like they had just started the job recently. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this occasion as the rest of the experience was grand. The quality of the food seemed to be to a good standard although my risotto was a little hard rather than creamy. Good selection of drinks, again as you would expect. Overall a nice evening out and a much enjoyed experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Hillside Restaurant and I must say, the lamb and steak dishes were absolutely delicious! The service was top-notch, with Callum as our server who was truly excellent at his job. Highly recommend this place for a fantastic dining experience! 🍽️👌

First time in this pub. Lovely atmosphere and the service. Our only let down was the White chocolate Brownie, which does not even resemble one, its just a cake , drizzled with dark chocolate, which is sad. Please make a real Blondie 🤷🏾‍♀️

Visited this restaurant many a time over the years. Food always good, friendly welcome and reasonable prices. You can eat inside or outside. Parking maybe a little tricky at peak times.

The Sunday roasts here are superb with the roast pork being my favourite. A friendly owner who enjoys his job and has time for every customer, a great selection of beer and whiskey, and either a beer garden for the good days, or a nice cosey fire for the colder ones, a fantastic bar all round.
