Great character pub with real ales, good food and friendly staff. The views from the decking area are outstanding as you enjoy a pint on a sunny day. It is central to a lovely walking area and the Geopark Way passes its doorstep.

Best carvery for miles around. Epic scenery of the Shropshire Hills. Superb facilities for events, a huge marquee for weddings, birthdays and parties. Rhythm and booze themed restaurant, a sports bar, and lounge. My favourite pub in the UK!

Just had our first carvery at the Malt Shovel last night. Have been planning to go for ages but things have conspired against us. WELL! It was blooming marvellous. The meat was so tender it was falling off the fork. The yorkshires were better than mine (and I don't often say that!) The selection and flavour of all the veg was absolutely great and the roast potatoes were fab. We will be back quick smart!

Its been over 20 plus years since my last visit and I have to say the place has changed, for the better. Building work is almost complete with the restaurant area which will get a visit, very soon. But for me, the selling point was the view from the rear beer garden. Just stunning!!!

Good night out after lockdown ended on pubs. Friendly atmosphere and a good pint. Food not being served just yet, like a lot of pubs. Its an hours travel from where I live, but it was worth the drive for a pleasant evening. Social distancing measures were in place.
