We went to the lock tea room at Heybridge on a Saturday morning. We parked close-by in the car park behind the pub.
The menu wasn’t clear about the cream tea if it said two scones my partner and I would have shared one between us instead of ordering one each. Lesson learnt.
The sandwiches were lush and came with crisps and salad. Again we could have shared a plate between us.
Lovely atmosphere in the tea room.
You can purchase the tiptree jam products and there is a toilet for customers.
Lovely views of the sea and boats.
An outside area for customers that wish to bring their dogs and have a coffee.
Heybridge is a lovely place for bird watching and for a lovely walk with beautiful views.
Will be back soon.
Understandably on this gorgeous day there were no tables left outside, but loads available inside.
Fast & polite table service, and the coffee was great. Sadly the Key Lime Tart looked better than it tasted (a little bland) - but the vanilla ice cream was....well - creamy!
However, I was told that the Banoffee Tart was "to die for"!
Lovely cafe by the estuary. Good quality food and reasonably priced. Staff nice and friendly.
Just had a wonderful tasty and filling breakfast here. The food is amazing; the staff are really friendly, and because the restaurant is right on the coast in Heybridge Basin, the view and surroundings are so picturesque. An added bonus is that the cafe/tea room is operated by Tiptree Jams, so not only can you try out their products with your food, but you can stock up on your favourite jams, chutneys and sauces at the same time. Other products available (cards, juices, wines etc.)
Omg, amazing! Food, staff, the view!! Thankfully it was a blissfully sunny day, giving us a great view, you could mistake it for the Med. Love the fact it's associated with Tiptree jam/sauces etc product range. Only down side is not being able to book a table, but never mind, we British love a queue anyway!
A lovely place to get a traditional cream tea, which is what we wanted.Tje scones were light and fluffy not dry,the jam yum,the clotted cream?what xan i say? perfect if you want to experience a cream tea in Essex!!Dog friendly, people friendly, interesting if you've not experienced the way a lock works.
I wish i wasnt so full from brekky to have a cream tea!!👍🏼😋
Stopped here recently on a bike ride for a coffee and ice cream. Lovely spot right by the water. Nice and quiet. Friendly helpful staff. Recommended.
Enjoyed a very nice coffee and slice of cake while in the area.
Friendly staff, nice outdoor seating area. Parking close by in public carpark. Only £2 / 3hrs
We went along today in high winds and sat outside. The staff were lovely, showing us to our table and chatting too.
We had toasties and a cream tea which were delicious. Sitting there looking at the Heybridge waterways, even in cold windy weather was really enjoyable and relaxing.
They were very good with all the Covid rules too.
Highly recommended.
Visited with my partner for an afternoon tea for two. Staff were very welcoming and service was quick. The afternoon tea was great value for money, and the flexibility of drinks as part of the deal was great! We especially loved the toasties and the carrot cake. Location is also idyllic, especially if you get lucky with the weather.
