One of the best meals I have eaten. The restaurant is beautiful; the staff attentive but not intrusive; and proof again, that the best French cuisine is found outside France. Thoroughly recommend.

We were traveling area the area and by accidentally found this restaurant via TripAdvisor. Without reservation, the staff were happily help us to get a table. The menu was really interesting and made me and my partner really excited. I ordered vegetarian dish and my partner ordered lamb. Both dishes were well cooked. The quantity of the dish were very decent. They even offered warm bread which is very nice touch! We were planning to just have main course, but end up had three course meals. I read there were people complained about small dish compare to the price... really? According to our dinning experiences with all top restaurants around country and abroad, Bouchon Bistrot is doing good job for what they offer. People need to learn how to appreciate food before make nasty comment.

Delicious! Everything I was hoping it would be! We went for the early bird menu which was just perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal - we felt like we were back in France! Delicious lamb, lovely French wine, and great service. We have finally found our special restaurant!

Lovely ambience, great service and truly delicious food. We had the early bird menu before a concert in the Abbey and it was beautifully cooked and presented and so tasty. The chocolate mousse was the best I've tasted. A bientôt!

French food at its best! Classic beautiful cuisine, with friendly staff. A real treat and help choosing wine to suit your food choices. Good range of choice on menu, spoilt for choice everything sounded amazing. We were both very happy with our choices! Exquisite and will definitely return!

Love this restaurant, authentic delicious food and charming funny staff. This place could be stuffy but it's so relaxed we've been there in our hiking gear! Best £15 you'll ever spend on a three course lunch, good portion size without being too big, perfect!

Wonderful lunch in a relaxed setting. Very attentive staff who were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. (Wish I wasn't driving as the wine list also looked very good!) Steak Frites were delicious. We will most certainly be back!!!

I really enjoyed this place. It may be looking a bit tired in places but the food was very good. I had the cheese soufflé (which was excellent) followed by the lamb rump which was equally delicious. For pudding I had the Clafoutis which was also superb, all washed down with a bottle of House red. My friend also had 3 courses which came to a grand total of £78. Bargain.

Huge thank you to Greg and the team. My wife and I visited for our anniversary and had the most amazing time. The food and wine paring was perfect and the lamb was sensational. Bouchon has it all, fantastic food, amazing friendly service in a wonderful setting. We'll worth the trip up from Newcastle.

Personally our favourite restaurant in Hexham! We are always greeted with a warm welcome. Food always first class, steak frites always a favourite with our kids. Staff always so attentive and knowledgable of menu and wines, Matthieu in particular fantastic with children, even taking our 2 for a peak in the kitchen to meet the staff. We look forward to seeing you all soon for another fantastic meal. Liam, Gemma and Family

Bouchon is probably most famous from it’s appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word where it won “Best French Local Restaurant", an award that you can’t miss as you enter. It might have been a few years ago now but who wouldn’t shout about such a well-known accolade? We visit on dreary Autumn monday afternoon, but the restaurant is near full for lunch - not surprising with a an excellent value lunch menu offering 2/3 courses for £12.50/£13.95. Changing just about frequently enough, the menu is typical French fare, with uncomplica

Good food, good service and a relaxing environment with French style. We had a great evening and chose from the a la carte menu. The early evening/lunch menu looked great also. Drinks were good as were the appetisers with the aperitifs.

Fabulous evening out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We sat upstairs and the staff perfectly hit the balance between attentiveness and allowing us space to enjoy our meal. Both the young man with the fascinating tattoo and his female colleague were fabulous, friendly yet professional. The food was fabulous. This is my new favourite restaurant and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant was excellent. Very good staff who were knowledgeable and attentive. The food was wonderful. Well presented and delicious so it was as good to look at as it was to eat. The wine menu was delightful although we were not adventurous in our selection. We ordered a la carte although the fixed price menus present excellent value for money. I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to visiting again as soon as I can.

Lovely food and pleasant atmosphere. Apart from one (minor) wrong order the only downside is that its a bit pricey - there's better value dining of similar quality elsewhere, but it was still an enjoyable experience.

Nice meal can be expensive at £75 for two for lunch without any alcohol drinks. Another place that add 10% to the bill. French onion soup could of been better, main course (Lamb) was good.

I finally found a place that does amazing food and at a reasonable price Driving from York was worth the effort. I wish there was somewhere nearer that was close to this level of dining, but nowhere in York comes close. The escargot was cooked just right, the main meal was better than expected, I had the absolute best espresso martini I've ever had, and the molten chocolate cake was the right temperature. The only reason this was not a five star experience is because our servers forgot about us several times during our dining experience to chat to other patrons they seemed to know. They also forgot to bring small requested items, such as an extra fork, butter for the bread, and still water. Food was 5 stars. Service was 3.5 stars. 100% would return for the food.

We were a party of 7 overall the food was excellent, however my brother and I both had the most expensive steak on the menu, Ribeye, both were fatty and chewed!! Not what you expect for nearly £26 each.

This lovely restaurant has been a favourite of ours for over ten years. We always book in for lunch when we're passing through Hexham. If we're staying overnight, dinner is a must-have treat! The set lunch menu is always excellent: classic French dishes at their simple and unfussy best.

This is beautiful restaurant with a lovely setting. Menu is varied and interesting with a substantial wine list. However we felt both the food and service were average and we left feeling underwhelmed.

Nice meal but probably won’t return. Duck confit beautiful, wonderful cheese board selection but rather bland cassoulet, no depth of flavour for a dish cooked for a long period. The meat tasted wonderful but the bean base was not flavoured by the meat. Service somewhat cold and unwelcoming by the head waiter but the waitress was lovely. For a birthday celebration (that wasn’t acknowledged) a little disappointing.

Excellent French bistro tucked away in Hexham. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere generated by the decor and the lovely staff. Food is fantastic. The early bird set menu is top class and well worth the trip during the week.
