Fantastic food. Well presented, good portions, excellent quality. All with some idyllic scenery across the Dee Estuary.
Not quite a 5 star review due to service.
You get the impression the staff are all new. No one directing them. It's very hit and miss if you manage to get anyone's attention at your table. They are missing a significant amount of extra income due to this.
We weren't asked about drinks, deserts, coffees etc and it was easily 40mins after we'd finished eating before finally managing to get someone's attention for a bill. Not all of this time was spent waiting, but it was perfect time to upsell those extras mentioned above.
The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The food was delicious, we had two courses and struggled to get through dessert and the portion sizes were big. I highly recommend visiting this place and would go again! I didn’t catch the name of the two gentlemen working on Monday 21st June but they were great and did an amazing job!
When walking up to Sheldrakes you'd be forgiven for being apprehensive about what you'd booked for as the marshland around it can look desolate and in need of a revamp HOWEVER if you let that put you off you will have really missed out. The owners can't control the area but what they can control is the restaurant and they do a cracking job of it. The attention to detail from the very attentive staff, the ambience of the restaurant, the amazing views and the fabulous food all make it a lovely evening! It has a real feel of a holiday taverna and makes you feel like you've had a real break from the norm. Lovely place! The owners and staff deserve a real pat on the back!!
I've just had my wedding at Sheldrakes, upstairs and it was amazing. An incredible setting, relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious. All staff worked hard to make sure everything was in order. I highly recommend Sheldrakes.
Went with my wife, after charity friendly game at Anfield special 4 course dinner, Very enjoyable meal, started with fish platter, then we had a delicious and tender steak with trimmings, we both enjoyed the perfectly cooked main course, then had a beautiful sweet, followed by cheese and biscuits, the view of the sunset was to die for. Staff very attentive without being obtrusive, furnishing and decor very lived in, and I received a bite from something in the furniture.
Fantastic Dining Experience.
Lovely food with a lovely view of the shore 😁
Fantastic meal, had the fish, it was huge and beautifully cooked. Also had a great table looking out, staff were very accommodating.
Went with my wife on Saturday night after match at Anfield, really enjoyed meal started with fish platter ref attached, then enjoyed the chatobrian steak, out of this world cooked to required taste excellent. Followed by sweet and cheese and biscuits again ref attached pictures. Really enjoyed the meal. But went home with a flea bite, which was really irritating.
My favourite place to go, whether its to eat, or just relax in the chilled out surroundings with a good glass of red.
Good restaurant with great views over the River Dee towards North Wales, food has always been good when we've been and the staff helpful and friendly. Parking is in the public car park which is a short walk from the restaurant. But you can get a car down to the door to drop off people
The food was decent. However the location and view is too good. Must visit.
The food is not great but the view stunning
Excellent service. Waiter was wonderful and totally professional.
Food was exquisite. Views and atmosphere made our afternoon. Thank you.
Simply the best place on the Wirral to have a drink and some nice food on a sunny day. Great veranda, Awesome views... inside just as nice when cold..
The views are, of course, a massive draw for Sheldrake's. The sight of the many disused boats laying on the dry marshes, with the rolling hills of north Wales in the distance is enough to draw anybody here.
But let's talk about the restaurant itself: we had the seafood platter for two with a side of chips and it was out of this world. You get a generous helping of all of the seafood helpings, which includes anchovies, prawns, calamari, mussels and more. Honestly, it was one of the finest sharing platters I've had in recent memory, perhaps only second to the meat platter in The Wheatsheaf (in Raby). The chips are very thick and well salted, chips how they SHOULD be done!
Service was relatively fast, our food was on the table within 15 minutes of ordering and the waiting staff were sincere and friendly. My only gripe was the music, I didn't really think there was much need for it, the views provide atmosphere enough to be honest.
Good food and service. Beautiful setting
It was my wife's 70th birthday. We're not Billie no mates, we'd been partying with the family all weekend. It was a Monday and everyone had to work, I had to take her out for dinner didn't I? 😁. We had a lovely quiet dinner together and Sheldrake's is just the place to do it. After dinner at we sat in the patio with drinks and watched the sunset. We were also entertained by another customer who sang Ballard's as he played the piano.
Great food, great atmosphere, great views, a place for all occasions and all the family, including mans best friend, the wife, partner or other half is welcome to.
