What a great meal today, strangely today I had the vegan option. The celeriac steak, which whilst it was a delicious dish, it was less of a steak and more of a chunk I embellished it with a side of mac and cheese. Starters were the sticky chicken and the goats cheese. SWMBO had the linguine for main. I finished with a Sicilian lemon tart. It has been a good while since we were last here, but we have never had a bad meal here.

Had a lovely lunch date today with my partner, food was fantastic I had the belly pork and scallops, we looked at the menu last night and the damson crumble was already on Paul’s list before we entered the building. Staff lovely and welcoming will definitely be returning soon x

Had a lovely meal with the wife and two children under 8 recently. The staff were really friendly and helpful and service was outstanding. Food delicious, especially the pizza. Only slight downside was the overall price as it wasn't cheap. But that's the cost of living these days.

We visited here while in the area for food. Having never frequented a PCP before, we couldn’t have been more impressed. The food and service was absolutely outstanding. I had the scallops to start and a ribeye for the main. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the steak is one of the best I’ve ever had. The ambience in the site, the excellent quality points driven by the lovely GM , and the friendly guests made this an absolutely fab evening. Thank you so much to Sam, Fran and Ewan for your wonderful hospitality. Also to the back of house team for cooking such amazing food. We couldn’t recommend this premium pub enough. Thanks again, Joy and Dave x

An impromptu visit last night (Tuesday) with three friends, was wonderful. We had the very delicious dirty burgers. Served with a smile by the lovely Eloise, who was more than happy to assist in our requests of pictures. We were served promptly and enjoyed the whole experience.

This was such a lovely place drove past it many times saying we must try it, so we finally did and it didn’t disappoint. The food was so tasty and the staff were so friendly. Our server Fran was lovely and nothing was too much , our chefs Jon and Graeme cooked my husband’s steak exactly how he likes it . Will definitely be making a return visit x

Had a lovely night here this week. Lovely menu options, the duck liver parfait was superb! Great service; nothing was too much trouble. Lamb dish was more fat than meat sadly and the chips had a strange powdery texture. Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly.

Fantastic. The best Sunday Roast on the Wirral. Firstly the service, absolutely superb from our waitress Eloise and the rest of the team. Didn't feel overbearing, was always there when needed and didn't feel scripted or rehearsed. Secondly the setting, a beautiful, clean, modern traditional style pub, feels very upmarket with only slightly higher than normal price point. Last but not least the food. Absolutely delicious, from our Fantastic starters to our beautiful roast dinners and the desserts were simply in a league of their own.

Had a wonderful trio of roasts with all the trimmings plus cauliflower cheese and limitless gravy! Excellent quality and very filling. We were served by Grace who was very friendly and really helpful, a real credit to the Devon Doorway.

I visited last week for lunch with my one of my best friends. I am not from the local area so I was pleasantly surprised when I first walked in. My friend was running a bit late but I was seated straight away without hesitation by a friendly member of staff. We took quite a long while ordering our food as we were busy chatting due to us not seeing each other for a while. I was very impressed that the lovely lady waiting on our table was extremely patient with us and we did not feel rushed. All 3 course we had were delicious and my friend loved the recommendation of the mini dessert with a cocktail at the end. I regret not remembering the name of our waitress as she was excellent but I did leave her a generous tip 😊 I highly recommend that you ignore the negative reviews and judge this place for yourself as we did. I can’t imagine any staff members being rude at all. We will be returning next time we are in the area. Thanks for the great food & service

Another great meal at Devon Doorway! Great food and service. Elliot and Eleanor were really attentive. The food was really well cooked and I was told the chef, Gibson, is excellent and a nice guy too!

We booked a table in the restaurant for our Anniversary meal, on arrival the restaurant felt welcoming, Eloise was most charming as we checked in and were shown to our table, drinks arrived fairly quickly and orders taken with a smile. The meal was delicious, nothing left to waste. Drinks ordered as and when with efficiency. The whole experience was lovely, helped greatly by Eloise, the manager and her staff. Thank you for an excellent meal.

First time for me at this venue. Greeted on arrival by happy attentive staff, shown to our table and given menu's to perouse. After 5 minutes we where thinking that the menu was actually a little small and not much choice. We called over the waiter and it turns out that the menus had not been printed correctly and we where missing a whole page of further options lol. Well that has never happened before. The waiter quickly apologised and gave us fully printed menus. There is a great choice for all tastes. I opted for a garlic mozzarella pizzette with rocket to start. To be honest I was not impressed, I could not taste the garlic and the mozzarella was nearly non existent. The rocket was just dumped in the middle rather than spread around to give better presentation. Moving onto the main, I opted for the dity burger. Well presented, patty cooked nicely and not overdone. Full of flavour. Fries seasoned and a little crispy which was nice. Wow the beef dripping sauce in the little saucepan was fantastic, seriously I could of drank it. Onto dessert I opted for the Lotus Biscoff chocolate bomb with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. I tried pouring the toffee sauce slowly and quickly over the chocolate bomb but disappointingly the sauce just wasn't hot enough to melt the chocolate bomb 😫. That ruined the dessert for me and the scoop of ice cream was small but flavoursome. Waiter/waitresses where brilliant. We will return at some point in the future to give it another try.

By far the best venue on the Wirral for either just a beer or some fabulous bistro quality food. Not the cheapest so if Spoons is your thing then stick to it. Staff are always pleased to see you and supported by a strong management team who ensure the customer needs are always met. Enjoy
