As loyal patrons of the old Empire, we were so excited to see it reopen and try it out! So, it is under new management (although it was great to see a familiar face behind the counter!) and has had a revamp. It was very busy so I think lots of others were keen to try as well!
Food wise, definitely different style- similar to e.g. Wok U Like with big portions (lots of sauce!) and a bit of a price increase and menu changes. Good for vegetarian options with a lengthy menu.
I think we did prefer the old cuisine which was a bit milder however appreciate others will feel differently.
Has always been very good food here but was a bit limited on the menu for our liking however new menu and the food is fantastic will now be our go to Chinese.
Very good Chinese. Certain dishes aren’t as good as they could be, like the seaweed which doesn’t taste it much and should be saltier, but all round pretty good. I don’t like the cash only way of running as that’s inconvenient when you collect your food and have no cash, especially as they never say on the phone about that. That’s quite poor from them but other than that we do keep going back!
Empire Chinese takeaway - My first visit here in 25 years the Young man behind the counter was polite & friendly the food ordered tasted amazing & still lovely & hot once we reached home 15 mins later. Highly recommended.
Excellent food, piping hot. Very fresh. We ordered by phone and collected in 10 minutes. Friendly staff, we will definitely visit again.
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I know of and I have been to many over the years. Great chef and friendly counter staff. I’m happy with my order every time.
We have used the Empire for years and have never had a bad meal. The only downside is that it can get very busy on a Saturday evening so you do need to order early or quite late. Even so it's worth the wait.

Always good, tasty Chinese food. Can get very busy. Phone order first for pick up 15 to 30 mins depending on day of week.
The best food ever. I wont eat Chinese food take away from any where ellse. The food is fantastic, the staff are friendly and get food out quickly
Very clean, food cooked to order so a little wait required unless you order by phone. Best prawn toast I've ever had.
Just had takeaway out of Empire. Friendly chap behind the counter... And wow... Amazing food! Best Chinese I have had in a long time!

Nice food, alway had quite a bit of a wait as they’re so busy.
