Good food, welcoming and lovely room (quieter air con unit for the kitchen would make it better if you get the room above the kitchen, but good all the same)

Stopped by here while out walking on the Sunday of the King’s Coronation weekend. The whole village was just about to start a celebratory party, and the place had a nice feel about it. A family-run, traditional village pub with rooms. Looked very clean and smart inside. Will definitely return to try the Sunday Roast!

Lovely old pub/rooms in a small hamlet not far from Hertford. Friendly hosts, good home cooked food for evening meal and breakfast, and great atmosphere. Plenty of parking, beer garden and children's play area, also only 5 mins walk from Bayford Rail station into London or up to Hertford/Stevenage

Hidden gem If your anything like me, I tend to type into google ‘hidden gems’ then the area when looking for places to eat. Well this is a hidden gem, probably known to the Bayford community and now me. I drive past the bakers arms twice a day. Each time I do, something else catches my eye and I think to myself, I have to come here. So, today I was driving home from work and thought let me see what the name is. As I carried on home I thought to myself i’m coming back here tonight. Its now or never. I got home, got changed and grabbed my partner and left for the Bakers Arms. I had not googled this place or looked it up online, i just knew the name and location. All I can say is wow! As soon as we walked i we where greed so kindly by Martin and walked around to the dining room. The dining room was cosy, very well presented and clean. We both had the lasagne and it was amazing. The flavours burst in your mouth and where lasting, even the chips we ordered on the side where perfectly crisp. Both my partner and I rate our food out of 10 at home and in restaurants I can say i have never got past a 7.5. Today was the the first time I have ever heard him say a meal is a 10 and then change it to an 11. From hospitality, location and food, the Bakers Arms is a must visit. It should be in the class of a hidden gem. Im glad i followed my instincts today and got experience their venue. Thank you to both Martin and Bev for being a great host and providing impeccable food. My Partner is still talking about the lasagne now so thank you for making a lasting impression on him. We look forward to visiting again very soon. All the best Georgina and Charlie

We received a genuine cheerful welcome and shown to our room, clean tidy and warm, with a good bathroom too. Excellent local draught beer in the bar, a good choice of food, well prepared and good portions. After a good sleep, a freshly prepared cooked breakfast. A good stay, recommended. Downside... the shower could have been a bit more powerful, but it worked.

We had dinner at the Bakers Arms because the place where we usually eat with family was closed and we had a fabulous meal. All of the food was home cooked and full of flavour. The portions were huge and the gentleman who owns the pub really looked after us. I also think it was very reasonably priced, especially given the quality of the food. If you are sick of chains and mass produced food this place is perfect. We’ll definitely be back.

This wonderful pub is only accessible by car. I came here with family to have a meal. I ate their Sunday Roast. Staff were professional and friendly. They were helpful while finding us comfortable seating. Our meal was not rushed. I would definitely eat here again.

Me and my brother stayed overnight in a room with single beds and an en-suite. Nice and cosy. Tea/coffee in room. Warm welcome from the landlord on arrival and the hospitality carried on from there. Great food for evening meal and a very generous full English for breakfast. Parking at rear of pub. Highly recommend. Thank you for a nice stay.

I was in the Area for work and needed a place to stay for the night. What a lovely wholesome place it is. Had sausage and mash for dinner and it was absolutely fantastic! Rooms clean tidy and everything you need. Beers cold and fizzy as can be. Fantastic pub and would highly recommend it.

Wonderfully friendly country pub in the centre of a beautiful village. The food is consistently great, from the standard pub fayre, to their legendary Sunday lunch, which take some beating! Giant Yorkshires and the most amazing gravy.
