My wife and I love this place it's about a 20 minute drive from our house but well worth the journey normally go in the evening for dinner and a drink on a nice day we love to eat in the garden. Friendly and helpful staff lovely food and lots to choose from we will always go there it's our favourite pub.

Last minute booking via Expedia. Literally arrived within the hour. Room was small but comfortable with all necessary amenities. Booked in for dinner and we were very impressed. Superb Pork dish with Apple gravy. Chef even made a little extra at my husband's request. The cheeseboard was the best I have ever had....anywhere! Breakfast was outstanding. I opted for Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise was delicious. A slightly better quality ham would have been preferred but at £100 for 3 courses at dinner, 2 G&T's, 2 Spiced Rum and Cokes, Bed and full breakfast for two....I can forgive the cheapish ham. Outstanding value. Thank you.

We came to stay for one night (wish it had been longer) for my partners 30th Birthday. From the moment we walked in the door you could feel how welcoming the place was. Maria greeted us with such in a such a warm way & was kind enough to speak with us about the history and encouraged us to have a look round as she could see I was busting to do so. Nothing was touch trouble. My mother had ordered a room if sparkly with 3 glasses for our room and this was there efficiently at 2pm when we got to the room and kept a surprise. The rooms were comfortable, homely and clean & yey there was a clean bathroom. We had the most beautiful meal in the evening, the staff were great and again so friendly and welcoming. Also they managed to keep the secret that our meal had been paid for by my Mother until we went to pay (thank you). The breakfast was amazing and so filling. Maria must have been so tired as she was in the bar the previous night but up again first thing with a welcoming smile, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for our lovely stay. P.s. This beautiful place will be somewhere we visit again and has been added to our wedding list (that's pretty awesome as we live 2 and a bit hours away).

Great atmosphere with friendly efficient staff. Traditional inn with great charm. Excellent menu and well presented well cooked food. I first stayed here 30yrs ago on business and it was a pleasure to return for a leisure weekend stay and find it was just as charming and welcoming as I remembered it ! Good r to see a young staff carrying on its reputation for good customer service.

Lovely food, very good price and very nice evening friendly staff. We stopped on the way through as the exterior looked nice, worried the food would be overpriced but it wasn't. The kids food was delicious too. Would highly recommend.

Had our wedding reception here 1st June 18, fabulous venue and the staff were lovely. Stayed 2 nights. Only complaints are that the cooked breakfast wasn't that great and a lack of plates, cups ect on both days and only one person waitresing so struggled to deal with the demands as the hotel was full and restaurant very busy. Also the garden out the back was a right mess unit I mowed the grass and swept up all the rubbish myself. New owners need to invest a bit more cash and staffing and it'll be awesome.

So suprising and so welcoming. Yes the rooms were small but for the price and the short notice booking we didnt expect much more. The room was clean and comfortable. We stayed for two days and two nights, eating all our meals within the premises. The Inn was tranquil and full of character, ourselves and our whippet dog were made to feel so comfortable and welcome. The facilities were spacious and tasteful, the food was more than acceptable but most of all the stay was made so enjoyable by the Staff and their attitude.

My room was very clean the bed was very comfortable. Very nice breakfast and very helpful staff who really made my stay a very enjoyable experience. Big shout of thanks to to of the nicest blokes I have ever met, duty manager Dave and ed! My only regret is that I didn't stay longer. But I want to come back next year and stay longer. Paul Ward

I stayed here from 1st February 2019-3rd February 2019. The room was lovely comfy bed and it was beautiful. They allow dogs in which I thought was really good. All staff were very friendly but a big thank you to Chris dave Ed and the kitchen staff the service from these was amazing couldn’t have asked for better. Now the food wow what can I say the first night I had the chicken curry and oh my you could tell it was all homemade and it was lovely on the Saturday for lunch I had gammon egg and chips could not say a bad thing about it Saturday night I had the lasagna which again was homemade and tasted amazing, Sunday I had the beef roast dinner before the drive back home and it hit the spot perfectly. I couldn’t recommend this place enough to everyone I had such a great time and all the staff really helped so thank you very much for the amazing stay and the amazing food

I stayed in this hotel with my wife. We had our 40th birthday at the Horseshoe and it was a blast. Don't believe anything that's written here. It's a busy hotel. It's warm and welcoming. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the en suite Four poster room is brilliant. The bed is comfy and there is a bath big enough for two. It's also very private. The function Room is massive and has it's own private bar. The buffet was awesome and we ended up taking some of it away with us because it didn't all get eaten, there was so much of it. The food is amazing and the staff are lovely. We have eaten here a couple of times and never had a bad experience. My Mother and other members of the family have also stayed here, eaten here and love it. The breakfast is cooked for you not left to sit around under a heat lamp. There is loads of tea coffee and fruit juice to help yourself to. You'd be a fool not to stay there, eat there, party there!

Had our wedding day here (July 2010), it changed hands on the lead up to it and everything then started to move smoother and faster. Great service and communication all guest who stayed where happy with the room and pleasantly surprised. Great food served and good breakfast, I have been back for lunch a few times. If I had to pick a fault with it, I would have to say slightly high room prices, on the other hand their is a travel lodge down the road but not in same league. The

Nicely styled inside(coming areas) and out place with v.good service - feels almost like a family-run place. Some rooms are a bit too cosy, but you'd still get everything you need for a good night sleep and to refresh yourself in the morning. P.S.Watch out for "angry" pipes while turning on water or using toilet 🤭

I have to strongly disagree with the negative reviews. My husband and I checked into The Horseshoe Inn after a long day's drive. We reached there about 5ish pm and were greeted by a very sweet staff at the reception. Our room was cosy and clean. We had some drinks and dinner at the restaurant/pub and the service was superb. We love this place. This is one of those classic hotel/inn where they have captured and maintained the same concept/theme with their interior and decors. The staff were amazing. Their good nature and service made our stay even more pleasant. The food we had were prepared and cooked jist right (and not greasy at all). We feel that this place deserves more credit, and support. And we'll be happy to visit again.

Odd place... Not many staff, not much atmosphere in the bar area, and a little dated around the edges. However the food at dinner and breakfast was spot on, and the staff are helpful and friendly, and plenty of parking. Cheap nights stay. Oh watch out for the very thin walls, you can hear everything going on in the next bedroom!

Stayed here just over a year ago for 4 nights with my son. The new management had just taken over and they were lovely people. The place has a traditional inn feel to it which I quite liked and the owners hadnt quite had time to put there stamp on it. Ill defiantly be heading back when I'm In the area to see how they are getting on :)

4th visit. We love this place. It had just been taken over by new owners. They seemed very nice. Room was ok toilet was leaking and dripping but the new owners had taken over from previous owners who had left it in a state . So hopefully next visit it will be back to tip top standard. Open fire was lovely. Beautiful setting and lovely old building.

After reading the previous reviews, I was initially apprehensive that my wife had booked us in here for 4 nights but my worries were unfounded! The room we had was well appointed ... yes a bit tired and the shower water pressure was not the best (and oh my god there was a web in the corner of the window - its in the countryside ;) - nod to a previous post!!) There was plenty of tea and coffee, and more than enough towels for myself, wife and 2 lads (13 and 9). It made a great base for us to visit Eastbourne, 1066 at Battle, Hastings and even Brighton... The breakfast in the morning was excellent and filled us up for most of day until tea-time (snacks and ice-cream excluded)! We were running late on the Wed so decided to eat in the Inn. The bar food was reasonably priced and very good, so much so, that we also ate there on the Thu night at the boys request. There were games in the bar area to keep the boys amused whilst we were waiting for our food to be served. The staff hospitality was very friendly and polite, and they couldn't do enough for us, including giving us hints and tips on places to visit when we went to Brighton and Chichester, and accommodating any alternative breakfast requests from the lads. All in all, you get what you pay for and in my opinion we got more than enough for the price. We wouldn't hesitate in returning to stay there should we venture to this neck of the woods again.

Disappointed new management are leaving. It's been on the up for the last six months with good food. Time will tell if new management are up to the task of lifting this huge potential country pub up. Hopefully RelaxInnz will make up their minds what they want from their staff. Is it a pub, a restaurant or a hotel? Keep it as a good local country Inn/pub with great food that happens to do B&B it might just make it.
