It was myself and my mum's first time in Helensburgh and it was just by chance that our travelodge we were staying at was right next to this lovely pub! We booked a table for 7pm and got a lovely seat next to the window in a quieter area of the pub. Cara (I think her name was) and her service was absolutely splendid. She was extremely accomodating to our food requirements as well as chatty and friendly. The food itself was just wonderful. I had a rump steak that I throughly enjoyed (and the cheese sauce was to die for!!) and my mum had a small pizza. We decided to order a hot drink and pudding afterwards and my pudding didn't taste great so we kindly asked Cara to return the pudding for us which she did and her manager came out and apologised about the inconvenience. He too was extremely accomodating, professional and friendly and reassured us that infact the pudding had indeed been prepared wrong and he was grateful we brought it up so that this mistake wouldn't happen again. Wonderful homely place with fantastic food and the most fantastic staff! Thank you so much & we look forward to our return in the near future! :)

Had lunch here on Monday 2nd July with 3 friends. Loved the cheesy mushroom starter. Could have eaten it twice over and cleaned my plate with the tasty bread. For main I had the salmon fishcake. This was also delicious. Washed down with cool white wine spritzer. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Sat outside, under parasol and enjoyed more spritzer! Will defo visit again. BIG THUMBS UP

33 members of our local church coffee corner had high tea at the Commodore yesterday. It was beautiful, most people had fish and chips, big plates of bread and butter. Everything was lovely, as were the cakes and plentiful cups of tea and coffee. The service was fast and efficient. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again x

Had the best starter, steak and dessert in a long time. Calamari, Fillet steak cooked to perfection and sticky toffee pudding with exceptional service from Laura. Thanks for a great night!

Excellent as always. We live out of area and always factor in a meal at the Commodore whenever we come to Helensburgh!! Excellent service today. Eric was lovely and saw to everything. We didn't have wait for drinks or to order and he was super friendly and very attentive. Thanks Eric 🙂 The lads said they would happily go for a pint with ya. X

Nice warm welcome and shown to our table quickly. Waiter was very attentive, polite and nothing was too much bother for him. For was very nice, starter of calamari was excellent as was the sticky chicken although 4 small bits of chicken for the price doesn't seem right. Mains were really nice and definitely good value.

Have visited this restaurant on multiple occasions for family functions and date nights with my partner. They are always willing to accommodate for special requests and the staff are fantastic. On thus occasion we were served by Marc, he was very attentive, and the service was prompt. The food was also amazing as always, would 100% recommend. Thank you to chefs Martin and John! The atmosphere is always so welcoming.

A really nice place to eat or drink. A large beer garden with great views. The bar and restaurant has a nice relaxing feel. A good selection of drinks at the bar and an excellent choice on the menu. Also a dog friendly establishment. While a bit more expensive then most places locally for what you get I personally think it was worth it!

Staff attentive. Food's okay. Sunday menu swings towards roasts, if that's your thing. Getting tatty though and needs some tlc.

I really enjoyed the festive menu. 3 courses for £28. The Pork Belly and Potato was delicious. The only reason why I haven’t awarded 5 stars is because the Creme Brûlée wasn’t caramelised. It was like eating pure custard.

Honestly the best rib eye steak I’ve had in a long time. The beef dripping sauce is ridiculously good, I can only assume it contains some kind of restricted addictive substance it is so unbelievably tasty. The service is always impeccable here, and it’s a perfect warm, cosy atmosphere. Hard to beat The Commodore at the moment!

Absolutely loved our meal here this evening. Delightful people and delicious food. Two adults, a 14 year old and a 9 year old all fed very happily - completely clear plates of mains and deserts. Recommend!
