The food and service do not disappoint. We came for an early sunday lunch and left suitably satiated. Between the four of us we had two Sunday dinners; a roast beef and a beef short rib and two sandwiches a tuna mayo and a warm fish finger sandwich. All were beautifully prepared and well presented. This is our second time of dinning here and we definitely will be coming back again. Thank you again to all your staff.
Not the cheapest place but still well worth the money, food & service both excellent.
The staff were there when we needed them but not intrusive as some can be & happy to ‘tweek’ the menu for us
Looked a bit posh for us in our walking boots, but we were made to feel just as welcome as the more glamorous visitors. Gorgeous decor. I had beer battered haddock, I cleared my plate as it was delicious. Best chips I have ever tasted! Other half had pepper steak pie, the meat was so tender and a huge pile of freshly steamed veg. Would love to come back and maybe dress up a bit next time
Stopped for a drink and something to eat after walking up rivington pike. Great pub with good food and excellent service...would definitely recommend.
The salt and pepper squid is to die for however they have taken calves liver off the menu which is a shame as it is one of the main reasons we go there
Quality food reflected in higher price . Lovely homely feel to the place .. menu has enough choices to satisfy all tastes .. I would say it’s a 4.5 for me close to being a perfect 5 ...👍
My partner came across this little place while on his Sunday morning bike ride and said we should try it . Couldn't be more pleased .. really enjoyed the food . Service was fantastic . Felt very homely and relaxed . And it's Dog friendly too which is a bonus .. well recommended and would like to say a special thank you to Alice who looked after us so well .. we will be coming back to this lovely little place and will recommend it to all my family and friends..
Absolutely faultless food amazing service attentive but not in your face , only downside for me personally there was no Spanish cerveza SAN Miguel or Estrella would make this venue perfection!!
Highly recommend you won't be disappointed!
Went for lunch midweek and was fantastic. I had the lamb my mother the pigeon and risotto and it came highly recommended
Our friends treated us as they're regular visitors ..we loved it ..the food the staff the location are all first class ..will definitely be back !!
Anaxing food & views. Staff friendly but not overbearing like some other places. I had the wood pigeon to start followed by the venison & then the Bailey's & dark chocolate moose. It was my friend's birthday too & his desert a cheesecake was brought out complete with a candle. He was also given a fabulous cook book of Lancashire which is very interesting reading. I will definitely be visiting the Yew Tree Inn again.
The staff are warm and friendly, the food was fabulous and the scenery was amazing!! They make the best "Canadian Coffee" mix!!
Went here for a random meal on Sunday afternoon, driven past a few times but decided to go in and very glad we did. The service and food was lovely, left the place feeling very satisfied and happy :)
Always enjoy a lovely evening here the food is of high standards and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
A lovely country pub set in beautiful countryside with plenty of parking. The food was OK my friends enjoyed their fish and chips and burger but I was disappointed with the vegan macaroni. In fact there was only one vegetable main course dish on menu so I asked and they produced a separate vegan menu, why did I need to ask to know about it, why isn't it on included on the standard menu or at least a reference to it so you know there is one? I'm all for vegan menu's, it's great that pubs and restaurants are now doing this, however, I'm a vegetarian not a vegan so I would have preferred some vegetarian dishes included. Unfortunately I find vegan dishes quite bland, which was the problem with the macaroni dish I ordered. There's not a lot of flavour to macaroni, nuts and shallots. It did promise a hazelnut pesto but it looked and tasted just like crushed hazelnuts in a bit of oil and a few dried herbs sprinkled ontop. The whole dish was very dry and tasteless. The service was also quite slow despite there being a lot of staff, I had to keep catching their attention to take our order, order extra drinks and get the bill, they were all too busy chatting amongst themselves instead of being attentive to the customers. Nobody asked if the food was OK. However, the chef, who you could see through a hatch was working hard and all the food was piping hot. I won't be going back for a while but if you're a meat eater, I'm sure you'll love it.
Only one cask ale on today but it’s a cracker brewed locally. Situated in a great location with beer gardens to the front and the side where you can take in the fabulous views. Handy starting / finishing point if you want to walk to the reservoirs.
Popped in for a quick drink and ended up having a little snack.
The service and staff were 10/10.
The place was beautiful and very comfortable and cosy.
Will definitely be back to try the main menu as the king prawns and hummus was delicious.
Food was great, presentation was on point and the beef rump cooked perfectly
Love this place! Great setting, service and food. It was a quiet Thursday night but the food was exceptional. I had the Ox cheek with stilton mash and beetroot, which was one of the best meals I have had recently. All felt very safe and very clean, with automatic hand sanitiser on entry and staff wore masks. Will definitely be back soon.
Great location in beautiful countryside. Fantastic beer !!! I didn't eat there today, but I have here eaten many times before and the food is always excellent . Highly recommended.
Lovely setting and venue but please serve full fat coke... when we were there I heard 2 other people ask for it too. People are happy to pay the extra sugar tax as a treat, and if its in a bottle that's good too.
Nice venue, good all year round with nice seating outside and cosy fires in winter! Food is nice, fish and chips had salt preloaded, which is not to my taste, but overall the food was good and the staff are really nice. Definitely recommend and will be going back in the future.
Absolutely a gastronomic delight!! All food so fresh...delicious and excellent service Called in on a very rainy day to enjoy chicken pakoras..honey chipolatas Then (better than my mums!!..) corn beef hash with rump stk and celeriac puree..Divine!! Peach n raspberry pavlova... P nut butter creme brulee & bourbon biscuit that was so melt in the mouth!!..homemade and not to be confused with shop bought!! We will be back!! Perfect!!!
Lovely quaint country pub set in the quiet countryside. Plenty of outdoor seating overlooking fields. Only one problem, hence 4 stars instead of 5 and thats the lack of vegetarian choice on the menu. Only 1 starter and 1 main course.
Cosy on the inside, great views on the outside & a tasteful seating area in the sunshine. Staff were attentive, food was both good & quick & the beer was cold. Not really much more you could ask for.
Superb sunday roast. Chicken and topside of beef both cooked to perfection. Quality home cooked food, beautifully presented and to a standard superior to most pub food. Carrot and ginger soup starter was exquisite. Well done to the chef and team.
We are here recently one evening and had some really nice food. The menu's a step up from pub food, is relatively small, so they're concentrating on quality.
Between us we had olives and padron peppers as nibbles, grilled spiced mackerel and crispy ox cheek as starters, then duck breast and the pork and sage Croquettes as mains, finishing off with choc brownie, treacle tart and apple crumble. Everything was nigh on perfect, my only small criticism would be the main portion sizes are a bit on the small side.
Service was good, friendly and attentive without being overly so. The feel of the place ( we ate in the restaurant part ) is pretty relaxed, half way between pub and restaurant.
Happy to recommend it to friends, family and random strangers on the Internet !
First time visiting the Yew Tree Inn but it don't won't be my last.
Fabulous food in a lovely setting. Highly recommended.
Just called for a drink. Outside area is pleasant in the sunshine and inside is probably cosy in cooler months. Good choice of gin on the bar and beer from Rivington brewery. Worth calling in on a walk around Anglezarke.
Lovely lunch, impromptu visit during a walk round Rivington/Anglezarke. Met by a lovely guy and told we could sit anywhere. Lovely cosy fires burning - very welcoming on a chilly day ! We'd only called in for a quick bite but was told there was only a standard 3 course menu but this was very varied and had some tempting dishes. I had the burger with chips and onion rings which was the nicest burger I've tasted and the chips and onion rings were delicious, all freshly cooked. Will definitely be returning to try some of the other interesting dishes!!
Absolutely fabulous find, amazing food, great beer paired with brilliant service. Couldn’t fault it
