It is a very friendly place and I really really enjoyed the environment. What I have tried in Oxford I recommend this place for its reasonable prices and it's full portions. I also like the fact that there is a wide variety of dishes in the menu. When I went there it is a bit crowded so I ordered directly at the cashier and enjoy a conversation while I waited for my food. If you're visiting Oxford, this is a place you will really want to try.

Food is always good if the boss is on duty. The service and staff always makes visiting the pub a fun experience. Menu choices and daily deals are extensive and varied. Thanks chef for a steak cooked to perfection. I would always recommend this fun pub for meals and the convenient and ample parking available. I would also recommend a night out at The White Horse when local DJs play. A opportunity to dance and sing makes for an excellent Night. 13/07/2023 I had a really lovely dining experience this evening at this fabulous pub! I couldn't be bothered to cook this evening and so decided to go check out the new menu advertised online. Being a Thursday, the deal was a free starter or dessert with any dish from the Super specials section of the menu. I had Halloumi strips for starters. I found them very salty for my taste and I didn't really find the quantity value for money at £5.29 had it not been for the Thursday deal. I chose the newly introduced Jerk chicken. Although it wasn't authentic in flavours, it was absolutely delicious, well cooked and nicely presented. Consisting of about four wings and half a chicken and on the bone. A reasonable effort was made to create the authentic "rice and peas" but it didn't come close. Having said that it tasted very nice with it's black beans and delicate and mild spices and colour. It was more akin to a Mexican rice than Caribbean. All this was accompanied by a delicious a tasty fresh homemade coleslaw. I would still definitely recommend it! I also took the opportunity to ask about the changes to the Wednesday deal on wine. Formally £5 a bottle, there's been a huge increase of £2.99 which to me has taken the 'great bargain of a deal' element out of the offer now at £7.99 The atmosphere was excellent as usual. The outside seating area was just as busy as indoors. It was so lovely to see groups of tourists, language Students and Pensioner groups enjoying the wonderful menu, big screen sports viewing and subtle background music. My servers this evening were Chloe and Jess. Who despite the peak of the busy period, were true professionals in their friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic attitude. I would also definitely recommend this pub for family dining throughout the year as there are always great deals and choices for children.

Popped in for breakfast, which was really good but sadly let down by rock hard cold toast. Hubby asked for more toast and what was brought to us was sadly the same. Crispy yet not warm enough to melt the butter. Shame as would have been top notch if they could sort toast out. (we think it may have been frozen bread)

Went for drinks. Much cheaper than expected = purchased more drinks. Great atmosphere. Close to Headington campus for a quick night out. Might be my new favorite pub

Good pub food - very handy if you're in that part of Oxford and need to grab something quickly. Ordering online from the table worked fine, and I noticed they had a charger for multiple mobile phones, which could be useful.

Update I have revisited the pub with my friend. We went for an early evening meal and we both had burgers and beer. This time the service was far improved and the food was really quite good. The service was almost too much. The staff were really friendly and attentive this time. The burgers were much better than the chicken (I really did not fancy ordering the same food as last time) and the sweet potato fries were fresh and tasty. A much improved experience and I would happily go there again now. Overall, I have given them 4 stars as a balanced review. The management clearly care about standards which is a credit to them. Recommended. I visited the White Horse with a friend for an evening meal and a drink. The booking is easy, the on-line apps etc work fine. Food was and drink were delivered in good time and the drinks tasted good (we had bottled and draught lager). Sadly, the food and service thereafter were disappointing. I had chicken skewers, sweet potato fries and corn-on-the-cob, my friend had 10 battered chicken fingers, salad and sweet potato fries. My second skewer appeared undercooked, the fries appeared tired (like they had been out for too long and dehydrated). The corn-on-the-cob was very watery. The salad the chicken came out on was not very tasty at all. I watched as staff came and went to nearby tables and tried to catch the eye of one of them, to be able to mention the chicken appearing to be undercooked. It was impossible as they did not bother to look around and no-one came to check to make sure everything was satisfactory. Eventually I went to the bar and spoke with a staff member. Someone then came to the table and I explained my concern. They had a look and agreed that the chicken did not look right (it noticed it when after I had bitten in to it, it was the texture that alerted me). I was offered a refund or new skewer, I chose a new skewer as I was hungry, which was brought to me shortly after, with a new dip. It was a bit better. I was told that the chicken comes pre-cooked and they heat it up. This does not bother me, but only if the food is cooked correctly. The beer was good, the fries were tasty and the apps worked well. The prices are really quite good. Of course I was not expecting a gourmet dining experience, but I hoped to have a decent meal. I note that some reviews raise concerns for cleanliness; I did not note anything of concern around this. The service was inattentive and disappointing, the food below par. I have significant experience in management and the service industry, I would have refunded the meal and made sure that the replacement food was bang on. Management of staff is poor as it was not hugely busy at the time and the basics of customer care were missing. A smile, good service, a 'how is your meal today, sir/madam?' and ensuring food is cooked and tasty, are the basic standards to which pub food should be aspiring. Maybe I will go back and give them as second chance, maybe not. I have not decided.

The venue was clean, tidy, very presentable. The staff were very polite. Sadly the all breakfast appears to cooked in the morning then dished out during the day. The lasagna was a bit
