Visiting Leeds for the night & wanted a good quality Thai - booming online was simple & despite a very busy restaurant with graduation parties service was quick, friendly & efficient. Food was delicious & would definitely return
A lovely family evening
We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and respectful waitresses. The food was very tasty - a really enjoyable evening!
Really good thai food! Excellent service. Friendly staff! And the prices are not too expensive. The set menu's are excellent because you can try different mains for cheaper. The food itself was full of flavour. I'd go again!
We seem to be quite lucky for places to eat in Headingley, with most of the globe covered in such a small area it's pretty nice to have such a good choice. That given we were pretty limited on Saturday night as we'd left booking till quite late, we were celebrating my beautiful lady's birthday and there was 9 of us to feed. We had managed to get into Sukhothai not too far from Salvo's on Headingley Road. This place definitely plays up to its Thai roots in the decor, lots of carved wood and statues of monks and other such shit about the place. The menu is immense with a hell of a lot of choice in every section so it actually takes longer to choose than it does for your food to come out. As there was 9 of us and it was more of a celebration than an opportunity to review the food. Most of my time was spent chatting and making sure everyone had drinks. Which was incredibly easy as Sukhothai is of the old school in waiting staff where more is definitely more... The Changs and Singha were fl
So far, I've only had the opportunity to get take away from this lovely spot, that was - until the other night. My Dad, being the fab bloke that he is, drove me home from my Christmas jaunt in the homelands of Gloucestershire, and as such deserved a decent feed. I'd already decided to treat him, but the question was - where to go? Since we didn't wish to trek into town, we opted to head over to Sukhothai after a few at Arcadia. And it's safe to say this was an excellent choice.
You get the royal treatment in all of their venues, with beautifully dressed and attentive staff, ready to welcome you in. We were seated and treated to the Christmas menu, which was too tempting not to try. We went for the 'Snowflake' (I think, that or the Santa) which meant sharing three starters, three mains, and a dessert each for £50. Not bad at all.
The starters were delicious, with the prawns being beautifully arranged like little birds, and the chicken satay was to die for. I'm not sure what the creamy sauce is that was slathered on them, but it was beautiful! To follow came one of the most delicious coconut and steak curries I've had the pleasure of eating - the steak melted in your mouth, and the flavour of the dish was exquisite. The duck dish was just as lovely, but much spicier, and the chicken (deep fried and breadcrumbed) was equally well made. Basically, all of it was incredible. The range showed a good number of flavours, and it all came in good time - in fact, they checked to see how soon we'd like them to come.
I'd no room for the dessert, but they even popped it in a box for us to take home. The staff were all wonderful, and the whole experience was a real treat. We shall be back for certain!
My first sample of sukho Thai food was at the Yorkshire show couple of years ago and I can say the food is nothing short of amazing.I went last year and there was a power cut but the staff were on the ball food still came without a hitch and the candle
Lights made for a lovely setting for some
Fantastic food.if you want outstanding Thai food this is the place to go
Because of its location (next to the imperious Salvo's), Sukhothai has to do something special - and it does. Many people regard this place as the finest Thai joint in Leeds, and it's not hard to see why.
The interior is classy but retains that great Thai authenticity through dark carvings and subtle decorations, which lends the restaurant a pleasant, intimate atmosphere.
Despite the flawlessness of the décor, environment and service, it is the food that must take the real plaudits. I had the chicken noodle soup (£4) followed by a red curry (£8) and both were insanely flavourful, and the fact that you can wash it all down with genuine Thai beers such as Chang just ices the already impressive cake.
Sukhothai was my first experience of Thai food and it has since become my staple takeaway to impress friends from back home in Hull (where we have limited Thai eateries).
I will admit I can be a bit boring and always opt for the Exquisite Duck, which definitely lives up to its name. However my more adventurous other half seems to have sampled half the menu and assures me it is great.
Good value for money, delicious, spicy food, what more could you want? Maybe the all-you-can-eat buffet at the Chapel Allerton Sukhothai....
Great value quality food, lovely atmosphere and brilliant service
Through my travel it is Thailand that has had the most profound effect on me, therefore I love anything that takes me back in my mind to those memories for a second. After passing Sukhothai in the car several times, my boyfriend and I decided to try it out one evening hoping not to be too disappointed!
I was pleasantly surprised. The interior was classy and hinted at a Thai vibe through it's carved wooden decor and imitated Thai menu!
It felt amazing having a chicken and sweetcorn noodle soup on a cold evening in Leeds served by very friendly and helpful staff at a charming £4! The authenticity of the menu is really brilliant and offers a spot on Thai green curry!
Located on the outskirts of Headingley, about 20 minutes from the city centre the situation is perfect. You aren't in the chaos of the shopping crowds and not swarmed by loads of custom.
I thoroughly recommend here for a change from the usual Frankie Bennies or Nando's when you can't be bothered cooking! If you have been to Thailand you must go to be transported back in your mind while sipping on imported Thai beers or teas!
I will always remember this wonderfully authentic Thai restaurant as a place of triumph: where my father, sixty years of age, sat down to his first meal of non-British origin. After years of goading I finally got him to give it a go, and that he had not one word of complaint is testament to the quality of Sukhotai's food. Beautiful, carved décor and attentive, courteous staff are par for the course at any Thai worth its salt, and Sukhotai is certainly no exception, with a team of waiting staff who simply cannot do enough to make you feel at home. While the atmosphere is lively, and due to its location inevitably heavy with students and their visiting parents, the tables are spaced out enough that you never feel your privacy is compromised, and the restaurant is equally suited to an intimate date or a night out with friends. The food itself is flawless, with the grilled Thai style sirloin steak and Gang Klew Wan Pak - Thai green curry with bamboo shoots - coming highly recommended by our party. We accompanied our meal with a Rioja from the surprisingly extensive wine list and finished off with some deliciously creamy coconut ice cream; altogether an unforgettable meal at a very affordable price for an establishment that's won as many awards for its food as Sukhothai has.
Incredible food, fantastic service, authentic decor and tasty house wine! This is THE place to go for thai food! The food couldn't be fresher or tastier; the flavours are unbelievable! The house red is the tastiest house wine I've ever had and the food is always produced fairly quickly. The Headingley restaurant has a slightly newer feel to it, making it very slightly less relaxed than the original in Chapel Allerton, but this is a very minor point and has no bearing on the whole experience. I am now reluctant to try another thai, as i fear I will be disappointed!
Went here with some old uni mates in March, and the food was just delicious can't fault it at all. The service could have been quicker but it was worth the wait! A must visit in MHO!
Loved everything about the place. The art, the food and the service was all perfect. Couldn't fault a single thing. Will.most definitely be back and I highly recommend this place.
Superb food and drink, in a great recreation of going local Thai style, friendly staff, fast efficient service and great atmosphere.
Service was amazing and food was delicious! Definitely recommend
A truly unique atmosphere with very nice and quality food.
Definitely worth a visit.
We've experienced a bit of slow service, but overall it was a truly good experience.
Excellent fresh food served in a street food setting. Prices reasonable and portion sizes good. Staff very friendly. Several of our group had been to similar venues in Thailand and really rated the authenticity.
We loved it. Fast, modern very tasty. The menu is huge be warned !! Lovely choices for any diet. Cooked perfectly and spiced to your liking. Staff are great and attentive. Very bust place.
Zaap headingley was amazing! The food was delicious and authentic, especially the Thai green curry. There were actually 3 meat skewers per plate not two but the food looked and smelled so good that my kids couldn’t wait for me to take a picture! The staff were absolutely lovely, which made the whole experience even better :) Will definitely be back again soon!
Service and Atmosphere was Excellent, food was incredible, would especially recommended the Fried Sea Bass with a curry sauce. Beef was a bit chewy in the massaman but staff were more then understanding and replaced the dish
This place is consistently excellent. They have a dedicated Gluten free menu and the Chicken Panaeng curry is simply stunning! Will keep coming back again and again!
Had a great meal with adult family - meat eaters, veggie and gluten free all very well catered for. The food was piping hot and delicious! Will definitely go again!
Delicious food, great atmosphere, nice drinks. The only downside for me is the seats, not all of them are comfy. Would come here anyway though 😃
The food is delicious here, I highly recommend the mince pork and Thai Basil and the red Thai curry. I really felt like i was back in Bangkok, great vibes and the staff were so friendly. Already planning my next visit to try more tasty authentic Thai food. Also super happy to see Leo beer in there! Never seen it in the uk before.
Staff are lovely, food is amazing, excellent portion sizes and a great atmosphere!!
First time at Zaap Thai food was super tasty and staff were so polite and friendly … definitely worth a visit 😀 Pad Thai was awesome x
If you wanna explore Thai food? This is the place, hottest place to be. Feels you’re in Thailand. Food is yummy
The menu was very extensive and clearly labels all dishes and what's in them well. The staff are always extremely friendly and the decorations and style really makes you enjoy your experience there
Very tasty but disappointed with the ice cream portion size. A big bowl but just one scoop. But delicious. Set menu for £32 with 3 people sharing.
Fantastic Thai food with excellent decor. Makes you feel like you're on khaosan Road! Starters of bao buns and veg gyoza were great. I had the chicken fried rice for main. Simple Thai dish but done brilliantly. Service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Really nice experience and so is the one in town. Good work guys!
