Came as a family of 4 on a quiet Thursday evening following recommendation from a friend. Beautiful little traditional pub with fires roaring. Lovely service from the team. And fantastic food. Quality produce at reasonable prices and good portion sizes. Can’t wait to visit family again to come back.

We drove passed and fancied some food so popped in. I'm so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, super awesome staff and great food. The staff made an excellent gin recommended and they were happy to make small changes to the menu. The food portion size was excellent and the food was delicious. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back.

Have driven past many times meaning to go in and finally did and I wasn't disappointed! Great pub with wonderful staff and a great atmosphere. Easy to find and has ample parking. Plenty of seating inside or out. Good food menu, great array of drinks and lots of new events on due to the new landlady who has a wonderful community focus. The new Open Mic night was a big hit, happily spent the whole night in there. Definitely recommended.

Amazing staff, I mean they are just awesome, continually going the extra mile to make your visit the best it could possibly be, now if they could only get the food to the same high standard as the waitresses 👍 The burgers were on the dry side and also very small for the size of the bun they are served in, being a good inch and a half shorter in diameter than the roll. This means lots of sandwich and very little "burger" (Check out that excess bread in the photo) The puddings, while being very delicious, are heavily overpriced. The cost for a burger with a bit of cake and a beer coming in at just under £25.00 Will I be back, highly unlikely...

What a pleasant experience in the Maypole to we popped in late afternoon for lunch as many places had stopped serving for the day and were able to order from the Specials list 📃. We had Cottage pie 🥧. After our meal the Manager Chef came to check on us and we all had a friendly chat about the Food and the plan's to update the pub. The Pub is very traditional and a pleasure to stay for friendly banter. Dog friendly and helpful staff. Will come again and recommend to you.

Good food, good beer and dog friendly . The food on the specials menu is really very good at the moment, gourmet quality. Well worth any wait. 2022 update. Now under new management but still dog friendly with well kept draught beers and cider. Food is classic pub grub rather than gourmet. Fish and chips had a really nice piece of fish and OK chips. The chicken burger was a plain bit of grilled chicken, the relish was nice, though. The Northney farm ice cream is good quality and the warm chocolate fudge cake was chocolatey and fudgy. 2023 update. Four stars for the food. I had moules frites which was well presented and reasonably tasty, although the frites were underdone. Pannecotte was also very well presented but a little bland. Seafarers was well kept but cooler than a bitter should be served, orchard thieves cider was good. Still dog friendly with friendly and welcoming staff.

Fantastic service. We were a big group and they managed to get all the orders correctly and all the food came out all at the same time. I had a huge dish with ribs, chicken wings and onion rings. The ribs were a bit dry but other than that they had food flavour. The pies were great

Fantastic landlady & landlord and staff, very welcoming. Amazing sunday dinners, apparently and recommend to book. We will surely be back when on the island.

Very generous portion of food and well cooked. That is just the tallest burger I've ever seen in my life, really made you "jaw dropping" ;D There are crispy onion rings as well as the lovely chubby chips, served with friendly manner and at the reasonable price. The only problem may be getting a food coma after dinning here lol

Staying in Chichester and out for a drive to Hayling Island. Passed this pub many times and thought we would try it thi time.Unfortunately only been open recently under new management. Some of the food on menu not available.Rather restricted choice.Barmaid was friendly but professional so perhaps try again next year.

Absolutely lovely meal!! We go to Hayling island often and this was the first time we had a meal at the maypole and it will not be the last! The staff were so lovely and helpful, the food was so so so tasty. Best cheese burger I have had in a long time. A good drink selection too. Can’t wait to go back

Lovely pub with friendly staff. We came here for lunch and enjoyed the food so much, that we came back for dinner. Recommend the fish cakes, and the pies are an absolute gem. Huge pub garden too which the little one enjoyed. Will definitely be coming back!

First visit with new owners. A few things that need addressing, offer guest a menu when they are seated (we had to ask for one) then they were grubby, didn't think it right the table was being cleared while people were still eating at our table, long wait for food once ordered. Plus side, food was good, what we had, desserts are too expensive, my fudge cake & ice cream was in a tiny dish, although nice would have been better in a larger dish or plate. Staff were polite and friendly but again had to ask to order desserts, perhaps its just training that is needed. Would we go back YES.

We are staying up the road and decided to walk down and give it a try after reading previous reviews. Being a Monday it was not busy but still had a nice atmosphere. The dog was welcome as was other patrons dogs. We ordered drinks and meals which arrived in a timely manner and were all very nice and well presented. Monday, as it turned out was burger night so also very good value. We definitely would recommend for a nice pint and a good meal.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The new management team are fantastic. The beer garden is huge. Just be wary of very limited parking so arrive early or find other means to get there.

Number one place for my wife and I to eat on Hayling. Always a excellent warm welcome from Mandy, Nevil and her team. Backed up with the best food, cooked by a proper Chef. All washed down with Ales kept in perfect condition by Nevil. I recommend the Pie of the Day, with a pint of HSB. Or if its a special occasion then you can prebook from the "Special Menu", ideal for Birthdays and Anniversaries. Highly Recommended.

We visited the Maypole 3rd August 2022. We popped in as a stop gap before our booked time at the Donkey Sanctuary. The lager/cider was great and refreshing. Our daughter enjoyed the play area in the garden. The server (I'm sorry, forgot to ask for your name) was lovely, friendly and great to chat to. We will pop in again when we're back in the area.

Staying at the Away Resorts and myself and my husband visited on a Wednesday and Thursday evening as only 15/20 mins walk. On Wednesday we just had drinks, lovely pub with comfortable atmosphere and welcoming hosts. We returned on the Thursday and had an amazing home cooked meal. Great food, perfect portions with service to match. Would highly recommend
