Reviews Sonia's Cafe & Bistro

Had to leave the balcony window open, the sound of the river beneath was very soothing and made a welcome change from traffic noise... Shower was a little schizophrenic as someone had had a go at the thermostat bit, but not an issue- I prefer my shower a little cooler and if I'd left it alone would have been normal for anyone else. Breakfast, although extra cost was plentiful in the restaurant below and the service was attentive and very good, considering the place was quite busy. All in all, a good experience.

Lovely owner. Clean rooms. Very comfy pillow. In fact the best I've ever had out of all the hotels I've ever stayed in. The bistro was being refurbed at the time of my stay but I had a packed lunch delivered to my room. Which suited me better for work reasons. Would highly recommend. Will definitely book this place again if I'm ever in the area.

This is a review for Sonia's Bistro in the bridge house. Myself and my family were looking for somewhere to eat when we came across this place. This is a charming small restaurant with lovely river views and great food at very affordable prices. Special mention for the Spaghetti Roma dish with salami, ham and spinach in a fresh cream sauce. As well as amazing Italian food more traditional British dishes are available such as steak pie (also very good) and fish and chips.

Lovely. Immaculate room. Comfortable bed. Small and perfectly adequate en-suite. Food good in bistro, and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful. However, booking. com misled us re pricing and there was more to pay on arrival. Check with proprietors what you get for your money before checking in to avoid embarrassment and distress.

Stayed here in 2009 : made extremely welcome. I was cycling Lands End to John o' Groats and arrived soaking wet from a day of torrential rain. The home cooked Italian food was just what I needed. Bike locked away safely. I would stay here again, simply because of the warm welcome.

Not stayed here but this beautiful bed and breakfast is no more, it collapsed into the River Teviot during Storm Ciara. Anyone with bookings here is advised to contact the hotel directly or where they booked it from. The whole building is gone.
