Simply the best fish and chips you'll ever taste in Hastings or anywhere on the South Coast and fabulous views over the fishing boats and The Channel. Succulent, freshly-caught cod (other options and a daily special available) coated with light, crispy golden batter - Maggie's secret family recipe - just fell off the fork onto proper fluffy, moreishly-tasty chunky chips. Too full for dessert but people around were enjoying their home-made lemon posset and ice-cream. Short but well-chosen wine list. All great value for money, too, and faultless service by the friendly staff, who welcomed me like a regular although it was my first visit. Thank you Rachel, Julie, Abie, Fiona and Stawek - I'll be back!
Skate and chips were amazing ! The batter is the best I have ever had, my mum had plaice and chips and the portion size was huge but she tucked in as it was sooooo good. Please go here if you are in Hastings Old Town. Lovely friendly staff too. Fantastic seaside lunch with 3 generations of our family.
The best fish & chips you will ever have. We have been there several times now and Maggies never disappoints. Lovely fresh fish and chips to die for. The staff are always very friendly and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. Thank You To All At Maggies From Jacqui & Les Watson. xx
We got table for two even though we didn’t book. Very busy little place. Lovely views of beach and fishing boats. Excellent service. Ordered haddock chips and mushy peas. Good amount of chips nice light batter on fish which was white and very meaty. Excellent. Bowl of mushy peas homemade and enough for 3/4 people. Will definitely return when next in Hastings and recommend to friends. Will make sure table is booked to avoid disappointment
Fabulous fish and chip served by great staff. Loved the selection of fish we chose to share between 3 of us...and the homemade tartar sauce... yum!
Very recommend. X
Definitely the best Fish n Chips in Hastings! I had a super piece of cod with the best cooked chips I’ve had in a long time! The service from all of the staff was exemplary- thank you so much all of you!
Lovely, cute little fish and chip restaurant. Had booked a table, which i think was necessary as it was very busy. Very tasty fish and chips served in good time. The only down side is that they only take cash, so if your not aware of this beforehand can cause a bit of a problem!!
After the service in St Clements where we said a fond farewell to the one and only, 'luvvley" Pearl Olsen, I took a stroll down to Rock a Nore and eventually ducked out of the constant drizzle and into Maggies. A warm welcome and a catch up with the ever smiley Rachel later, I was served up with a massive portion of cod and chips, freshly cooked by Maggie's granddaughter no less. Gazing out over the beach while I steadily demolished my fish and chips definitely brightened up my day!
Great fresh fish, nice cosy place, staff are amazing. We'll be back weekly from now on.
Make sure you call and reserve a table before going in or you might be left out.
Keep in mind of the opening hours between 12:00 - 15:00.
This is THE place for proper sit down Fish & Chips - terrific food with lovely lovely (and slightly crazy) staff. Go eat and enjoy.
Have been visiting Maggies for years and have never been disappointed, it has a lovely atmosphere, is spotlessly clean and as the food.....can't recommend enough.
You must book a table. It's so popular you will be extremely lucky if you just show up.
Traditional fish and chips. Big portions. High quality.
I think it's the best fish and chips in Hastings.
Book a table by the window for amazing views.
