A wonderful, cosy pub. Attentive, kind and friendly staff and a great selection of drinks alongside delicious food. The pub dog monty is very friendly and is a great focal point of the pub. Absolutely recommend to all!
Been there once, food ok but not amazing (sorry) I like to eat something I'm not able to cook myself or have not tried yet. Beers were nice but pricy. Staff friendly and helpful.
Such a lovely friendly welcome from everyone ...Sunday Lunch was scrumptious...look forward to a return visit
Such a lovely pub, great food and a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. We, and our puppy dog, Charlie were made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend a visit to this pub just off the A23 in Sayers Common
Lovely pub and lovely people who run it. We had a meal and it was cooked to order. Must admit the meals were big . I can reccomend the liver and bacon and the pork . Friendly atmosphere with log fires.
Great pub. Lovely people, awesome atmosphere. Peter the landlord is a great host and very welcoming
Well kept and beautiful little pub. The food was very good, we had ribs (huge!) and burgers for main, and banoffee and lemon roulade for dessert. All was great. Service was fantastic, friendly and chatty. Bonus points for the lovely company of the pub dog Monty the black lab who hung out with us fo
What an absolute joy it was to walk through the door and be greeted by a wonderful happy black Lab Monty! Totally unexpected and made me smile from ear to ear! Transformed the energy of the experience for me..... Ordered roast beef and sticky toffee pudding en route home after golf at Singing Hills
We have known this pub since the 70's. Since moving away from the area we visited very rarely. Unfortunately since it was owned by Black Lion pubs the standard deteriorated. Today we were delighted to find the pub has been completely refurbished to a very high standard by the new owners. We enjoyed
Lovely little pub with way above average pub food. A lovely welcome, great crispy squid and burgers and some lovely catch time with Monty the pub dog was just what we needed to relax. My only criticism... awful awful coffee!
In the area for work, and rather than suffer in a Travelodge for the evening we thought we'd give it a try. In a world of pubs after Covid this is exactly how it should be. Great food and fantastic hosts. Dont forget to give lots of attention to Monty the black lab.
We had a lovely meal in a good setting. Highly recommended - we'll definitely be going back! We DID go back and we had a delicious roast dinner - we'll be going back again! Back again for a great lunch. Will be back for the Thursday quiz! Had a great Sunday lunch and looking forward to seeing the g
Great family pub. Felt so welcomed all the way from first call to book to locals saying good bye. Table of 11 called day before to book. Gave pre ordered and food was lovey. Thank you Alison and team
An excellent establishment ! Unfortunately I had a family emergency and didn’t get to finish my food but the landlady was extremely polite and the customer service was outstanding. Would highly recommend !
Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon there today. Local knowledge second to none. Extremely professional and friendly service. Food menu and portions served mouth watering. Monty the dog is adorable. Definitely recommend and will return soon.
We had a very tasty meal here and were well looked after. I like dogs so the over friendly dog wasn't an issue for me. It was a warm and friendly experience.
This is my local and I love this place, great food, service, atmosphere and quiz night is great fun. #hickstead mafia
