My brother and I happened to walk into this pub after a hike on the Downs. We had been rejected by pubs in Ditchling, so thought we would take our chances here. We had to wait 1.5 hours to see if they would have availability, but they accommodated us, all the bar staff were super nice and friendly. The food was good also!
I have been here quite a few times now with groups of friends. Always a good atmosphere and a good selection of beer and wines. Bar staff are always happy and helpful. 😇😇
Working out of town and advised the greyhound had a quiz on a Thursday. Rocked up and plenty of parking. Great atmosphere. Staff friendly and welcoming. Had a fantastic evening, will 100% be going back.
We had a luncheon at the Greyhound with 35 guests. Shaun, the landlord, provided me with an excellent select menu from which my guests could choose their meal prior to the event.
The food was delicious, Vicky and Max provided a tremendous service, the pub garden proved to be the perfect venue. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all. Thank you Shaun
I visited The Greyhound on Wednesday 20 April 2022 in the early evening, a weekday during the Easter school holidays. I was with three other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. We were staying at the Southdown Way Caravan & Camping Park, about a 10 minute walk down the road.
The pub comprises of a couple of medium sized dining areas with plenty of tables with full table service. It was very quiet.
The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and enjoyed the experience - we were well looked after throughout.
I enjoyed a shared baked camembert for my starter, chicken skewers for my main course and a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food felt slightly overpriced, I paid just under £40 for three courses (one shared) and drinks.
Overall I enjoyed my visit.
A really nice country pub with great potential. Enjoyed a good quality ham, egg and chips and my friend had the burger. Both were very enjoyable. It is standard pub fayre but it's done well. The young guy that served us was also very approachable and friendly. Lost a star due to lack of atmosphere and the from the freezer, tasteless calamari.
Lovely pub with great bar staff, but £3 for a pint of soda water is hard to justify. I’ve worked in pubs in central brighton for the best part of 10 years, and £3 is extremely expensive when it’s mains water mixed with gas. Food was good, but £15 for a min with frozen veg / veg from a bag is cheeky!
We were there for my ex mother in laws funeral. They opened the pub specially for us .
They were very good and the food was excellent and was very nice to relax and have a drink
We celebrated my partner's 60th birthday at the pub and 12 of us ate there. It's under new management and they couldn't have been more welcoming. They'd even decorated the room for us! There is a new menu for the new year and the food was delicious. We'll definitely go back.
We had the pleasure of having our Wedding reception last year in July. The service we received was above and beyond. A day that will remain in our hearts forever. Highly recommended.
The staff are lovely!! They're always up for a chat at the bar, and in the evening it makes the visit super lovely. The garden is always clean, and there's a heater in the smoking area (just sometimes you have to ask the very lovely staff to turn it on). The toilets are spot on, super roomy and always completely clean. It's fairly cheap and is a really lovely friendly comfortable place to go.
Excellent 3 course Christmas lunch. Service was first class, food was perfect, lovely and hot, generous portions all beautifully cooked. Best Christmas meal I've had this year. You should all be very proud of yourselves. Well done Shaun, Allison, Tony, Vikki and the team
Great country pub. Lovely food, polite staff, open fire. Pub quiz and open mike night on alternative Thursdays...both with a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Food is okay but expect dog hair from the black Labrador, Montey. He belts about flapping fur over everything. It's okay if you're a dog lover but others my not enjoy the extra fur in their food.
The prices are fair, £10 ish for most adult meals, drink prices too. Service with dry humour and fairly prompt, not a bad place to eat.
The food here is first class! I ate steak and Guinness pie and my husband, a generous helping of lamb chops mash and peas -really tasty and satisfying. The lease for this pub is for sale and the pub itself now needs a personal touch, but hats off to the current landlords, a good experience!
