This place is fantastic. Great atmosphere and the staff are very very friendly. The food is amazing and the open log fire with a bottle of red is to die for on cold winter nights.
They have lots of theme nights and In the summer a great garden area to sit out in.

We decided to have our wedding reception at the mill wheel and it's was the best decision we have ever made. They went above and beyond anything we was expecting and nothing was to much trouble. Eugene and Rita are the most beautiful people and the standard of staff was amazing. I would highly recommend this venue for any occasion x thank you so much x

We had lunch at the Mill Wheel , we both had fish & chips with garden peas . I had a small one & my partner had a large . Every thing was presented very nicely, the managers where really nice people, when I said I thought my fish was a bit too small ,he offered me a sweet of apple crumble & ice cream. Which was very kind off him . I think the menu could have just a bit more verity. We shall return when in the area.
Our first visit was my partners 21st, the meal was lovely. And we even stopped over the night, the bacon sarnie the next day was delicious! We still rave on about how good it was to this day � We also visited last night, and we enjoyed every last bit of it! the staff were so lovely. Especially the man who kept coming up to my daughters and having a laugh with them. My daughter kept pushing her high chair back. And he would come up spin her about and push her back forward. She loved it! Definitely be coming again soon! Top place ��
One of the best steaks I've had in a long while, cooked to perfection � a beautiful looking pub and the male waiter was a gent and a brilliant host. Definately recommend
What a lovely place - cosy, excellent food and friendly, welcoming owners. Rita and Eugene are amazing - we felt like regulars from the moment we arrived. Eugene has a wicked sense of humour and played along with us - what a great night we had. Still laughed as we were driving home. Outstanding food - loved the Farfalle - amazing. Had a wonderful Sunday Roast at the Mill Wheel yesterday with my parents and youngest brother who have recently moved in next door. Such a warm welcome from all the staff, we tried all the beers, and we even got extra yorkshire puddings which was amazing! Thank you for a lovely meal, i will be back again soon!
We had a lovely evening at the Friday night steak night in the restaurant. Dinner was really nice and the puddings were scrumptuous. The staff were really friendly and I loved walking in the pub to see dogs sitting at the tables. I even got to sample a few of the guest bitters for free.....brilliant. This was our first visit to The Mill Wheel and I would love to got back and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to everyone. They made us feel like our evening out mattered, we were special. The staff are so polite. Loved it.
This was a special 69+1 birthday party with 20 guests. We had pre ordered food and it was beautifully delivered with no hic cups. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the lamb shank and it was delicious.

What lovely food. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we were seen to very quickly. My only criticism would be that the seating area that we were in was a bit tight but other than that I would highly recommend a visit here. I also love the fact that this is a pet friendly place.

The staff were fabulous & so friendly they served up a Sunday carvery for us both & brought it outside to us. The food was absolutely delicious & plenty of it.

The wheel is on show as you enter and looks absolutely brilliant. Really good layout with comfy sofas downstairs for those who just like to have a drink and socialise and restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately on the night we attended a couple of things on the menu were unavailable but I had the lamb main course which was beautiful. I did have the prawn starter however which was pretty tasteless and the salad was a bit overdressed and oily. The dessert I chose was apple crumble which again was great. The service was excellent and would recommend a visit.
Our first visit, very surprised by the welcoming of staff. Restaurant tables & chairs clean & tidy. The meal was very reasonably priced & it tasted good too!
Certainly a place I would recommend & we are looking forward to going back again soon!
During a week away in Wincle we ate twice at the Rose & Crown. Good choice of beer, great choice of food and it was delicious.

Came for brother in laws birthday about 20 of us with meals ,food and staff/service good ,dedicated restaurant upstairs so no normal bar drinkers could come to disrupt our party
A large group of us had pre ordered a two course meal. Food came out quite quickly and was well received by all. The outstanding item for me was the delicious apple pie
The promo leaflet says you'll be made to feel like a regular from your first visit and it really is true, we dropped in on the way back from an afternoon at Calke Abbey and even though it was obviously a busy evening we were warmly welcomed and fitted in.
Theres a great choice of classics on the menu and we were served quickly with generous portions.
The beef dripping chips were gorgeous and the steak and ale pie was packed with meat, My fish had a gorgeous crispy batter but I did ask to take my left overs home as it was so large (not because I'd "sampled" most of my Mums dinner too 🙄)
Most of all the genuinely friendly atmosphere is what I'll return for.
Delicious food. Friendly service. And a fantastic setting.
The piece de resistance has to be there's an actual Mill Wheel with actual water making it actually turn. And the rest of the place looks great too.

We came in on our way back from conkers , we were made very welcome by Leanne thank you. I had the steak and ale pie it was delicious my wife had fish as did the children , all meals were excellent , we finished off with sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies , this is a really nice place to eat and the food is really tasty . Leanne Made our children so welcome and eve found them some crayons and a colouring book to occupy them while we were waiting . George says hello 😄
We had a good meal.las time we went. The 4 stars is because the previous visit several weeks before was poor. Mainly the customer service but seems to be sorted now so another good visit I'll give it 5stars
