Was visiting Harrogate for a few days I am a keen photographer so I was up and about early looking about Valley Gardens called to 'The Prego' for a coffee afterwards lovely surroundings inside and out lovely staff (well the man who served me was) and nice strong coffee with cream sat outside in the October morning sunshine...Nice way to start the day
Lovely staff very quick service and lovely food

Great service, lovely food at reasonable prices. Recommend a visit
Lovely presented and tasty tuna&mozzarella sandwich after a long stroll in the Harrogate Park. The Caramel latte and chocolate orange cake was delicious as always too. Great place to stop by on a day out !
The cafe was extremely busy as the Christmas market was nearby. However found a table in the basement where we enjoyed a latte coffee which was brought to the table. My wife had a lovely custard slice and I had a Yorkshire scoundrel. Queued for the toilets which could have been cleaner.
Visited on the 25th of June, sat outside looking over at the park, watching the world go by 😊My husband had a toastie and I had a hot roast pork bap with stuffing and apple sauce .Mmmm it was yummy😋plus a huge vanilla slice to finish off. I have mobility and vision problems .I went to use the toilets ,which are downstairs ,quite a few steps .A member of staff saw that I was struggling and said come back up ,I have an idea and took me to the staff loo .Which was on the same level .She said it will take you all day to get down and back up again .Such kindness shown to a stranger .Well done . Food was lovely and when visiting Harrogate again we will make a bee line to this cafe .

Bit prickly and unwelcoming service initially, but it did slightly mellow somewhat. Beautiful stone walls inside. Very attractive interior with feature ceiling. Very clean café. Dog friendly. Has a mini dogs rogue's gallery. Has shaded outdoor seating to the front on the pavement. Wasn't busy, almost empty in fact. The Yorkshire Scoundrel was delicious, as was the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate tasted quite oaty-malty, almost as good as the hot chocolate you get in Switzerland. I was a bit surprised to be semi shut in by 3.20 pm, as Google Maps states it is open til 5 pm. NB : - This is NOT the case. It shuts by 3.30 pm. The staff said the owner wouldn't know how to change the hours, but when I offered to do it if they had the hours printed out somewhere, they don't have them apparently. So nota bene, don't visit expecting it to be open til 5. Sitting there finishing my purchases was a bit uncomfortable with the closed sign up and a chair partially blocking the entrance.
Great place. Better Than Betty's. Great coffee and food in a rather fine building. Did I mention the lovely staff...great.
I came to prego with my parents today, and had a very nice time! The food was delicious, the drinks were very tasty and the staff were very nice! I would definitely recommend going here! They even gave me a free vintage coke glass! Very nice, I will be going here again
Great food great staff great service what's not to like
Friendly staff, nice location to sit and watch the world go by
Lovely and clean .Had a lovely piece of gluten free carrot cake and a hot chocolate .
Great little cafe, particularly on a sunny day when you can sit outside on the pavement and relax with the busy passing of people. There aren’t many tables outside, and indoors is rather small too, so it gets busy early on, but everywhere is clean and the staff are good at wiping down everything quickly after each guest. There’s a good range of food on the menu, all reasonably priced and the service was fast as well. The sausage & egg sandwich was actually served as a bap, but it was large, tasty and hot on arrival so no complaints there. Hot drinks were presented well and there’s also a few beers available inside on draught, which is a nice touch.
For such good value for money I’d happily return and with the great location it’s a favourite of mine in the town now.
A little crowded inside but staff and owner absolutely lovely very welcoming delicious food drink fabulous service. A bit noisy people talking and baby screaming came here on 1st oct 2022 had a fabulous time and really good delicious food plentiful homemade meals eggs cooked to perfection. Great clean lovely lovely place definitely would come here again and highly recommend
Great Cafe, lovely staff. We had the pea & ham soup which was just what was needed on a wet October day. Great coffee too. Dog friendly which is always great for us.
I visit Harrogate at least once a week from Leeds and usually have lunch at this cafe. The food is always delicious. Prawn sandwiches are excellent. Toasties are fab. Carrot cake really good. Never eaten anything I haven't enjoyed. Never had a problem with the owner who has always been courteous and friendly as are all the staff. I guess you take as you find and I would recommend you give this cafe a try. I have not been disappointed. Doc Marten lady.
I would highly recommend this cafe, i had lunch there 3 times while staying in Harrogate. Very nice staff, lovely atmosphere and dog friendly. Lunch was lovely, It,s so relaxing you dont want to leave. Much better than Betty,s tearoom.
