We went to the Shoulder of Mutton for my birthday, my husband had booked the table as he knew they had a gluten free menu. We were shown to our table straight away and our order was taken. It was fabulous to choose from a dedicated gluten free menu, there was plenty choice and we were told that all the meals on the specials menu were also gluten free. The pub appeared quite full but we didn't have to wait too long at all for our meal. We had both ordered steaks and they were cooked exactly as we ordered, it was delicious. For dessert I ordered gluten free sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. It was absolutely amazing, great taste, generous portion and wonderful sauce and ice cream. My husband was equally happy with his dessert. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub for its food, great service, pleasant, comfortable and friendly environment.

Fairly unassuming from the outside but when you are in really good. We went as a family and the menu had everything we could have wanted. Quality was excellent. Prepped well, cooked really nice. Spot on. You could not fault the service and staff. Will go again!!

We were looking for something and somewhere nice to go for lunch, with traditional home cooked food menu, and we came across this little gem tucked away in Kirby Overblow. Food was lovely, staff were friendly and service was great , so next time u want to have food that's not what I call "plastic microwaved". Try this place .

My family and I visited on Sunday for lunch. The food was delicious and Kate and her team couldn't do enough to ensure our fussy daughter was catered for too. The only disappointment was that we didn't have room to fit in a pudding as they too looked delicious. We will definately be back!

Stopped here for a meal, for no reason other than it was half way between my brother's house and mine. He booked it. I thought he'd done loads of research, but he assured me he had put no effort in at all, it was literally a stick a pin in a map job. Anyway, the food blew us all away. So rare nowadays to see a menu and want to eat everything on it. Even rarer, everything on it, that we had, was absolutely gorgeous. The only slight fault, maybe, was the veg was a little bit too "Al dente". I'm not making an issue out of that though - how could I, I ate it all... Great beers too and a really good, really friendly service. Can't wait to go back.

Stayed for just 1 night, but we had a fantastic time. The room was lovely and extremely clean with great facilities and super comfortable. We ate in the pub on the evening and my wife and I agreed it was fantastic food, the best lamb dish we have had in many a year. Kate the host was great and really looked after us. Had the option of staying in Harrogate, but really glad we chose this place. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

An absolute gem of a pub this place. Warm and cosy with a lovely quaint vibe. Good selection of drinks, the food was top notch and service was excellent. I opted for the lamb, which was delicious. The kids meals are a fantastic deal in this pub and include what I would describe as an adult portion ice cream! The chocolate orange ice cream was an excellent choice by my youngest and unfortunately for her most of it was appropriated by myself, obviously for the benefit of this review! Fantastic restaurant, I can't wait to return!

Lovely country pub, food was delicious and good value - plus great for gluten free options. The chickpea daal was really good and a generous portion even though I had the smaller size, and the sticky toffee pudding was incredible. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

My son married at Wharfedale Grange on Sat 23rd March. We stayed in the suite at the Shoulder of mutton (ground floor) Friday 22nd and 23rd March. My friend kate and brother and wife had other two rooms on 1st floor. It was absolutely delightful extremely clean and comfy beds lovely shower and lots of little extras. The pub was perfect lovely atmosphere brilliant smiling staff and the lamb and pork fillet delicious. Book table as very popular and I can see why. The breakfast is best we have had great selection and cooked wonderfully, again served by the most lovely friendly staff. Kate the owner allowed us to have late check out on Sunday which was so kind nothing too much trouble. As we left on Sunday I could see lots of people arriving to have the popular sunday roast so upset we could not stay. If visiting harrogate or leeds which I intend to do when I book to spend longer there. Thank you. Forgot to mention real ales !!

A great place to eat, we had breakfast there which was perfectly cooked, hot and good portion sizes. The service was quick, courteous and with a smile. The icing on the cake for my wife was the fact they served tea with a pot of hot water - old fashioned but a nice touch. The pub has a very good atmosphere about it, that real country feel located in a small village just outside Harrogate. Plenty of parking and I believe good wheelchair access. Well worth a visit if the evening meals are as tasty as the breakfast we had you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful meal at The Shoulder of Mutton, Kirby Overblow recently. We visited for a family birthday on an evening, and ate as a party of seven. Warm, friendly welcome, attentive, passionate staff. Wonderful real Ales, coal burning coasy fires and delicious, home cooked food at a reasonable rate. Would highly recommend and we will be back. Fantastic for kids too. Good menu, which includes a generous portion of traditional ice cream. We will be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely food just a shame being sat very close to the bar on a busy Fri night as was very noisy and nearly had afew ppl reverse there butts onto our table whilst they were standing in big groups drinking at the bar 😂 but the food was delicious and well presented and the staff friendly and accommodating the best they could with a staff member short that night
