Well worth a visit. The pub is full of old worldly charm and is staffed by a great group of people who are polite extremely helpful and really care about your experience. Food is fabulous very tasty and plentiful served piping hot from the gracious hosts. Plenty of choice of draft and bottled beers. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Our first visit today. The food was fantastic, big portions, came quickly. The staff were lovely and very helpful and polite. The pudding menu didn’t have anything on it suitable for my son who has allergies, I asked for an alternative and the staff were happy to help, they whipped up a pudding he could eat. Thanks all, we’ll be visiting again

We always enjoy visiting this establishment, sometimes with our dog after a long healthy walk, or sometimes lazily travelling there by car. The food and the service are always excellent even in busy times but I did notice that one Sunday the staff seemed to be much younger and the service was not quite as efficient. Having said that we still enjoyed the meals. I don’t really want to praise the Travellers Rest too much as I would quite like it to remain “Harrogate’s best kept secret”!

Used to come here years and years ago but it ‘went downhill’ in our opinion so we stopped going.. but went back the other days and it was absolutely top notch. Great food and ales , friendly and quick service .

We had Sunday lunch at The Travellers Rest today after travelling up to Harrogate from Leicester. We phoned on the spur to see if there was any vacancies and we were told we could go straight away . It’s a lovely oldy worldy pub with an extension at the rear, very cosy. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and came straight over to us for our order, we all had a Sunday lunch which I must say was amazing everything was freshly cooked. The only gripe I have (but tiny) is that after the meal no one came back to us to ask if we wanted anything else, but that won’t stop us visiting again.

Wow...what a place. Beautiful old pub...set in a lovely location. The staff was amazing and very welcoming ...especially our dog minnie offering her treats. The food was faultless. I had the Beef cheek ..amazing. My better half had the haddock and chips...we both sampled each others. Top marks again 🏆The beer gardens in a great spot with fantastic views. A true hidden gem and we will return again for sure.

Tucked away down a very quiet land, this is an unpretentious, very traditional, family run pub. You do not come here for safe painted walls, a vast selection of craft beers, or gastro-pub style food on slate plates. You *do* get a warm welcome and solidly good service with a personal touch. I wanted the fish and chips but commented it looked terrifyingly huge. I was then offered that "it does come in a smaller version". Yes please! This place is dog friendly, full of nooks to snuggle into, a handful of beers and cider on tap and a sensible wine selection. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely meal and great atmosphere. From the time of booking the staff worked to accommodate our needs - a person who is coeliac and another who is hearing impaired. Really helpful and they did everything they could to make it work well. On the night two of our guests were very late, delayed on a long journey. Staff handled that cheerfully and made sure they were well looked after. Good value for money, big portions and tasty food. We'll definitely come again. A big thank you to all of you.

Great find, down a narrow little lane. Stayed overnight in the car park in the motorhome (levelling blocks required, quite a slope!). Great staff and amazing food, great value. New outside seating area. Inside a real quirky old 17th century inn with nooks and crannies. Lovely views over towards Rudding Park with the Great Yorkshire Showground behind. Adding to UK Pub Stopovers.

The most delicious, home cooked pub fare in a lovely ancient quirky oak beamed pub. None of your fancy gastropub stuff, just generous portions, beautifully cooked. I think the steak pie may actually be better than the one I make myself, which is an absolute first. Fabulous, thank you.

6 of us booked in yesterday. Nice size car park and very dog friendly. Good choice of food but the drinks are overpriced. 3.55 for a pint coke / lemonade and 6.15 for an orchard draught cider and 6.15 for draught moretti. Most expensive pint I've had yet. Still you live n learn. Bill for 6 with food 126.50 roast, burger, scampi, sos and mash. If your going with kids check the prices 1st. Great pub , we sat by the Xmas tree`

Beautiful old pub with modern extension and sun trap beer garden. Very friendly staff. We had Lasagna homemade Ploughmans Large coke Small coke 2 half shandys 34 quid. The pictures speak for themselves. The food was top notch. Ploughman's was the best I have ever had. Thick slabs of ham and huge wedges of cheese. Lasagna was heaven. Thick, dense, rich. Served with proper homemade chips. This will be our new lunch spot. Seriously check the photos!

This great pub is a little off the beaten track, but we'll worth the effort to find. The staff were quick to acknowledge us and served quick, as quick as the food came to our table. The food was piping hot and good portions although my wife felt there could have been a little more Veg in her small bowl. Food was great and all at a reasonable price. As most pubs do there was music piped over. I mention this because it was at a reasonable volume and was playing 80's and 90's music - icing on the cake!! Parking is good and wheelchair access is OK. Great pub with a great atmosphere, attentive staff and good prices. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic steak pie, chips & gravy... Meat was tender and falls apart also homemade chips are nicely cooked and the gravey was tasty. My daughter had lasagna & chips which she says was delicious. All portions were decent in size too. Could do with turning the heating up a little more as it was a bit cold.

Gorgeous little pub, so glad we found it, the Sunday roasts were amazing and huge! Big homemade Yorkshire puddings and the meat was really good quality. We sat in the conservatory which had a lovely view, really nice atmosphere. Dog friendly and the prices are really reasonable too. Great kids menu aswell, my son was so happy as he loves steak pie and they had it on the kids menu! A must try if your in the area 👍

Nice quiet country location. Good well presented food and adequate portions. We visited in the snow but there is also a beer garden that is lovely on sunny days.

Absolutely fantastic little gem! Rustic old pub, with a real log fire. Staff couldn't be better, dogs are welcome. Food is top notch, lots of veg and salad. Nice to see a good variety for a change, i had peas, green beans, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli with my steak pie. Plenty of tender meat. Will be back soon

Dropped in after an Autumn dog walk on the Harrogate Showgrounds for a bit of lunch. Great choice of food and reasonably priced. Theakstons on draft and choice of wines. Food nicely presented and pleasant, friendly staff. Not been for ages but will certainly call again!
