Why oh why didn't I buy a cake? Had a fantastic cooked breakfast with potted tea and gorgeous toast. The service and the quality of the food was excellent. Bought some lovely gifts in the shop and even made use of their facilities which were also excellent. Never felt so spoilt! Just regretting not buying a cake when I had the chance...
THE best vanilla slice I've ever tasted! Jeremy Tordoff you can thank me for persuading you to get one too
Heaven right here on earth. I've been going to Betty's for 50 something years, some of my best childhood memories are the trips we made to see the Easter Windows.... And they just get better and better,....Fat Rascal fan xx
Thank you Bettys for going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our beautiful wedding cake got to the venue safely. I am sorry the venue make it difficult but you dealt with it really well and helped us massively. The cake was amazing and so were all the staff who helped us. We will continue to eat at bettys and recommend you to everyone. Thank you for everything.
Absolutely loved the whole experience. Great shop, lovely food. Beautiful pastries, fantastic friendly service. A big 5 stars all round. Can't wait to come back.
I would have given 6 stars and more!! Went at 9am and got a seat straight in. Lovely environment for a quiet breakfast morning. The staff were full of smiles and so positive. Great service at every step of the way. Recommending us this scrambled egg with muffin, smoked salmon and chutneys to go along! I asked for strawberry preserve too and they happily served it! Really enjoyed my morning here with the food and service :)
Many people recommended this place before we came and it definitely didn’t disappoint :)
So be prepared to queue!
That's the only negative I can give regarding sitting in to eat at this fabulous cafe.
It's quite pricey.
Me and my girlfriend each had one hot drink, a burger and a slice of cake and the bill came to approx £64. But we walked away feeling like it was money very well spent.
The food is delicious, as we're the drinks, I opted for the hot chocolate and my girlfriend went for the mocha, both were very creamy and tasted amazing. The burger was out of this world, it may have been £20 but it was worth every single penny, I added bacon onto mine as well (I mean come on, it's bacon!!). We finished with a cake of the trolley and walked away very happy.
The food was amazing, the service was equally as good, if not better. Polite, chatty (but not overkill), helpful and very knowledgeable in the many many cakes on offer.
Table service is available to bring stuff from the shop, not a bad idea if your belly is full from indulging, but we chose to walk around the shop. We wanted to buy some French fancies (these are amazing) but sadly on the day we went they had sold out, this resulted in sad faces for a period of time.
But we would happily come back again and enjoy the dining experience and deliciousness of this wonderful gem.
This was an absolutely excellent experience. From start to finish, the staff were friendly, kind and provided excellent and efficient service for our afternoon tea. The tea and coffee was unlimited along with the sandwiches, and the afternoon tea was excellent and outstandingly delicious. I recommend the Jasmine Blossom and Peppermint tea. We had a lovely time and would absolutely come back again!
Decided to visit after going to the Emmerdale Tour. Heard so many Great things so really couldn't wait to try. Queue wasn't overly long (we arrived around 2pm) every member of staff is dressed immaculately and has manners to match. We was shown to our table which was downstairs and wow. The decor, attention to detail, atmosphere and food was out of this world. You really feel like it's an experience not just a meal. I went for Betty's burger which I think is the nicest burger I've ever eaten! My mother in law had the chicken schnitzel which was also cooked to perfection. The food was top quality and so well cooked. It is on the expensive side however i would definitely say its value for money when you take everything into account. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend!!
My second Betty’s but this one is in the original town of Harrogate though it’s not the same premises. I now plan to do all the Bettys as can’t fault them. The breakfast is served all day & I absolutely love the vegan one.
The service is fantastic. Everyone is welcoming & so friendly. It’s clean & beautiful inside, even the toilets are impressive. There’s a shop attached letting you buy some treats to take home with you to get your fix.
We'd heard that a trip to Harrogate was incomplete without a visit to Betty's. Luckily there was no queue when we arrived, and so were quickly seated in the beautiful dining room. The decor is very pretty and retains a lot of the old charm.
Service is very friendly and attentive, and it felt quite special having tea and cake in such lovely surroundings.
However, we went for a cream tea, and you would think that a place like Betty's would serve the best scones around... Instead we found them to be cold and a little dry, a little disappointing for the high prices you pay. But still a nice experience to tick off the list.
Betty’s cafe tea rooms were on my list for a long time as I always saw a line every time I visited York.
I decided to finally visit the place with my fellow friends and to see if the place lives up to the hype and it does!
The food was excellent with good portions and quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Same goes with the tea as well as I must admit that they make the best brewed tea here!
Service was also excellent as the staff always asked us about our opinions or if we need anything with a big smile on their face.
The atmosphere can be a bit overwhelming as it is a busy place and the line to get in can grow really fast! For that reason I would recommend visiting the restaurant early during brunch than the lunch rush hour.
Overall it was a nice experience to share with friends and enjoy a good cup of tea and delicious food. It is a good treat as it is pricey but I would say that it’s worth the experience.
Betty's reputation exceeded itself. 5 star service from the staff. A little pricey but for an occasional treat it's worth it. Get in early to secure a window seat and avoid the queues (yes, they queue round the corner to get in here) Recommend the hot chocolate.
Wonderful service Afternoon tea is perfect staff friendly and attentive. Even had a visit to the shop to take some lovely treats home. Well, it's worth a visit, and I will be back soon. Highly recommended. The easter collection to purchase from the shop is lovely.
First time in a Betty's Tearoom. The staff were so friendly and polite 😊 I went in for breakfast and was not disappointed 👍🏻 I got the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on a toasted English muffin and it was soooo good and the portion size did not disappoint 😋 Heads up, if you go for breakfast get there before opening because that queue got pretty big, pretty quickly and I was there 10 mins before opening.
