Lovely pub grub, very welcoming and dog friendly x
Found while on our travels and was very welcoming and friendly only had a drink but was very nice and warm on a cold and dreary day

Very good food, staff.. Dogs friendly too! X
Excellent food very friendly tyvm we will definitely come back
Real home-cooked chips. Perfect pint of Peculiar. Dog friendly. What more can you want
Very quick service and great food. Huge portions! Busy pub but that was nice as it gave the pub a nice, friendly atmosphere. Good, non-greasy chips and a very tender lamb shank. Friendly staff and a really well behaved pub dog. Highly recommended. £56 for two drinks and two 2 course meals.
We were staying close by and the Half Moon was recommended to us for Sunday roast. It was a carvery so we helped ourselves to a good selection. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at a reasonable price.
We had a AirB&B nearby. As it was such a lovely day we decide to walk over to the Half Moon for a spot of lunch. Food was excellent, staff were excellent &
Most importantly the beer was excellent. Really nice place, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and dog friendly too. Will definitely recommend a visit here if you’re about and about in the area.
Lovely place. Both Timothy Taylor’s landlord AND theakstons best. Two of the best ales in the world - both on cask!
Nice pub grub menu - I had the scampi and it was very nice.
Dog friendly and had a chat with a couple locals who seemed like a nice welcoming bunch. Landlord and landlady (I think) were nice folk to us.
LOVED the thoughtfulness of supplying a small pair of scissors with the condiment packets. I hate opening them things and invariably make a mess. Much more civilised with scissors!
Staying locally we thought we would try the Half Moon Inn as recommended..
My pie was exceptional , meaty and full of flavour, gravy one of the nicest I've had in a pie , chips were flavoursome and veg cooked well.
Service was great , friendly, speedy and professional , faultless..
The reason it's a 4 not a 5 is because I don't think a dog should be allowed in the eating area especially one that begs for food and if ignored sits there tapping your leg. Is a lovely old dog and I love dogs , have my own but do have areas dogs shouldn't be.
Thank you....
First time at the half moon inn, the food was great and service was 10/10 very friendly staff and nice beers. I will definitely return in the near future.
Delicious food, cosy traditional pub. Lovely, accommodating staff. Great atmosphere. Extremely dog friendly. Highly recommended.
Great welcome, great atmosphere, and fabulous food!! All in all it's a wonderful, traditional family run pub, which serves food in proper portions for proper people.....prawn cocktail starter, steaks, mixed grill, scampi, chips, pies, veg, gravy, sticky toffee pudding......this is the real deal. The owners are lovely, hardworking, friendly people, and it really shows as the bar and restaurant are busy most nights with regulars and tourists alike. If you want a proper North Yorkshire pub meal, then look no further, and try to book in advance.
Amazing atmosphere and welcoming staff. The food was exceptional. I can't wait to return when I'm in the area again.
Stopped to eat on 24th Sept 2023. It was Sunday Carvery. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. No fuss, no bother. Food was everything we had hoped for. Delicious, plentiful and excellent value. We were in fed and out in about 20 minutes. Clearly family run. This family deserve to prosper. Thank-you for your good honesty hospitality.
