I had the Mackerel to start the best I have ever had amazing followed by the the steak pie and WOW this is a beast of a meal so much meat and so succulent. I never had sweet but my wife did and she loved it. This is a real hidden gem but please don't tell everyone other wise there will be no room for me.

See you all again soon best wishes for 2018 ! The Davies Family xxxx
What a great pub with great food and the atmosphere is fantastic. I recommend trying the food especially the carvery.
Called in this morning for an outstanding breakfast. My wife had the kippers and I had the full breakfast. Fantastic food and excellent service and the best cup of coffee that I have had in the local area.
Delicious carvery. Fresh, local produce prepared with a special touch. Great to see a veggie and fish option alongside the meats. This pub with great food, wine and beer is going to fly.
Absolutely amazing carvery would highly recommend to everyone beautifully place lovly staff very helpful thank u
Just come back from a fantastic evening at the Hamner arms, a large family get together for my little girls birthday! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was simply amazing! The best burger my husband has ever had, (and he's had a few )
Thank you for a fab evening guys!
There was a large group of us who ate here yesterday and nothing disappointed! Food was amazing and the staff were all very accommodating and friendly! Huge well done to Tom in the Kitchen for top Yorkshire puddings! We will be back! 5*
What a lovely meal we had last night, thanks to all staff. Between us we had venison, sea bream, partridge and chicken all beautifully cooked, seasoned and presented. The whole atmosphere was cosy and so busy for a Monday evening. It was excellent value for money and we will visiting again often. Thanks again
Amazing meal on Friday evening , food from the Christmas menu absolutely gorgeous ! Delicious Guinea Fowl Tortellini ! Amazing Pheasant! Well Done all !
I’d not been to the hanmer arms in 10 years, some say during its hey day.
It’s received an obvious influx of energy, enthusiasm and upgrades.
The rooms were simply, spacious enough, proper outfitted amenities and regularly house kept to easily make you relax. Nothing spectacular, just simple.
In total, I ate 10 meals here...
Easily each breakfast was off the charts delicious.
I chose NOT to have a full English, but instead try a different eggs Benedict each day. Whomever the team was cooking breakfast, they are brilliant.
From venison , burgers, prawn and avocado sandwiches, traditional house made pies, house made pork scratchings and abundance of real beers and ciders, the hanmer Arms has elevated itself back to its glory days and well beyond.
I will not wait another 10 years to stay here again.
Top meal tonight, great menu variety and glad my local is back in good hands, would definitely recommend
Great menu, lovely staff and the pub is lovely, heat to see our local back better than ever
Excellent service in a lovely traditional pub and fantastic food, everything on the menu sounded incredible, it was so hard to choose what to order! Will be back soon :)
Went in with a group of ten and the service was great, the prices very reasonable and the food (I had scampi and chips) was excellent. The new owners seem to be making a really good go so far. The selection of beers was good and the location is amazing - there is a massive free car park right next to the back entrance and you can take a wander around the village while you are there.
Beautiful setting in the lovely village of Hanmer, a short walk from the mere. We visited as a family and had the most beautiful carvery (Sunday) with drinks from the bar. Fantastic service, very friendly atmosphere and great value. Can highly recommend. There are various food theme evenings on different days of the week
Went a long way to go there, worth every mile
Great carvery, lovely landlady..I'll go again..and I saw a dog with its owners loved that..
Everything a local should be. A promising start from the new staff. Keep up the good work guys!
Good service, friendly. Food is average but ok.
Nice spot in the middle of a quiet village. Very close to Hanmer mere which is worth a look.
Lovely Saturday afternoon lunch for our table of four. Feels cosy and welcoming, nice decor. Ordered from the light bites menu, all really good portions- fried chicken and skin-on fries, club sandwich (huge!), fish brioche sandwich, and kids chicken popcorn meal. Friendly staff. Specials board include mackerel, prawns, or lobster mac n' cheese. Really enjoyed our visit, will defo return... 😃
We were a large party of 9, arrived on time,7pm.drinks order taken, and delivered although 2 were incorrect, food order taken then the wait started, about 45 minutes in all.
The food was hot and very tasty. Puds ordered and yet another 35 minutes wait. Good food good atmosphere, shame about the slow service.i would recommend as overall a good night was had by all
We took my partners Dad for Sunday lunch. Wow what an absolutely amazing meal. A choice of 5 meats and plenty of vegetables too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back again.
Lovely quaint not-so-little pub with rooms. There are lots of rooms in the pubs, which means that you are always likely to find some space to sit down, without the place losing its typical village pub feel. The roasts, à la carte menu, and breakfast were all varied, tasty, and reasonably priced with generous portions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, perhaps a little dated. Above all, the hospitality is exceptional; Matthew the manager is so kind and accommodating, really making us feel welcome and answering any questions. The surrounding area is so beautiful as well - definitely worth a visit.
Exceptionally friendly staff, lovely well kept rooms in a stunning quiet village. Good walking about the mere and the church. Food was very hearty and decent. Bar has darts snooker and masses a great company. Was especially delighted by the staff here, name the breakfast was a joy to rise to each morning. Best thing off all; dog friendly. Thank you Hanmer!
Been today for the carvery. Not the cheapest carvery around , but well up there with the best. The meat selection was great, with four different meats , to which i had a little of each. Great selection of veg , Red Cabbage 🤗 cauliflower cheese, carrots, broccoli, mash, boiled potatoes . A really good quality carvery. 5 stars from me. Ps. A good pint as well.
Lovely place in a great setting at a great price. Stayed here for the night in a very comfy room and really enjoyed the included breakfast the following morning. Very friendly service and if out that way again i wouldn't hesitate at booking again.
Nice location, nice decor. Staff nothing to much trouble. Kitchen staff will go the extra mile to cater for any dietary needs. You would have to be pretty fussy to find any fault with this place.
We first visited Hanmer 3 years ago and were advised the pub was not up to scratch so did not eat there but I believe it's under new management and can only say, wow, the food was fabulous.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the staff are very efficient, nothing was to much trouble for them to accommodate our requests.
Our party of four decided on the light bite menu but the portions are very substantial, we ordered the hand carved ham, fries, 2 eggs served with side salad. It was excellent and when asked where the ham was from they said Locally at Home Farm Overton.
We also had the Smoked Haddock and salmon fish cakes with fries and salad, the fish cakes were so light and tasty, full of fish not just mashed potato.
I would have loved to try the dessert menu but were to full.
Will definitely eat here again
Highly recommend.
Went for Sunday carvery, very well cooked, lovely staff and the veggie options were brilliant.
Highly recommend!
The puddings weren't all that special but the tart with ice cream was lovely!

Huge portions on the carvery. Easily coped with a large party but 2.5 hours for Sunday lunch so don't go in a rush. Well cooked and prepared food served with a smile
