Came here on Easter Day with family, including our dog. We didn't go traditional, had combination of onion rings and chicken wings, followed by lasagne and cauliflower cheese. It was so lovely. The place is really clean and staff were friendly. The food was really tasty. Would come again and totally recommend it. Like the menu option of light bites, good for kids and others. The main meal size is very generous. We will be back. X
A very well run clean pub . Excellent value well cooked meals and a nice touch of having a section for dogs with water provided. A nice touch is the landlord arriving with treats for the dogs. It shows well run pub with good value food and a warm welcome can work. Top marks to owner and staff for a great place.
Beautiful re-furb, good food, could do with changing the menu as it gets a bit boring although everything ive tried from their menu has been lovely, friendly service Andy (the boss) always says hello ,lush riverside view and great disabled access with a disabled loo and lift. Could do with a higher smaller table though as I knock my knees on the table as im in an electric wheelchair. I love their fish n chips (theres an option of a light bite) mint choc icecream and rose lemonade. Always look forward to coming back .
Popped in the Chequers for a quick drink tonight ... very impressed, although on the expensive side the pub is very welcoming and cozy and we will be back to try out the menu ... a vast improvement :)
Had a lovely roast on mothering Sunday, can't fault the place, lovely decor, and very friendly staff.
Great setting right by the river to enjoy good, well presented food. The atmosphere inside is relaxed with friendly, capable staff
Nice little lunch yesterday. Nice friendly staff and quick service. Defo gonna be down a bit more when the summer starts
Had a great evening at Chequers. We sat outside, beautiful setting next to the River Avon. Really nice ambience inside. Friendly and attentive staff. I had steak, my partner had linguine. Both meals were delicious. Will definitely be back soon!
Lovely location, great service. Mostly good selection.
Had the roast which was pretty good, we found the portion sizes to be reasonable. The meat was very nice, however the potatoes weren't as good, nor was the cauliflower cheese which was available on the side. Both could have been a bit crispier and perhaps more seasoning. They were still very nice, just not as good as the meat.
The pudding selection (if you have room!) wasn't great as it was pretty much variations of things with ice cream.
Beer was expensive, but not by much more than similar pubs.
Overall it is really good, and a good end to a walk along the river, it's nearly 5 stars if not for the vegetables and other selection.
Done a walk along river Avon with friends and booked lunch in Chequers inn, great venue with beautiful view of the river/weir/boats, spacious seating. Great menu to choose from and the the food was just delicious! Will go back again!
Parking is tricky, but after that it's an amazing visit. The staff are so friendly; asking if we wanted inside or outside seating, offering drinks top-ups regularly, checking in on the food and generally being warm and friendly.
The roast dinners, vegan included were delicious. Everything arrived on time and was great quality. The view from the restaurant overlooks the river, a peaceful setting for everyone.
Outside seating is under individual umbrellas, for hot days and spitting rain.
Amazing location right on the river bank and a huge outdoor seating area. Unfortunately we went when it was grey and drizzling but I can imagine it's lush in the sun. Great views from all the tables inside. Decent selection of beers and perfect chips crispy on the outside soft in the middle. You can walk along the river for ages from here, good spot for a pint after a long stroll
Incredible Sunday Roast (as always). Really good quality food and a lovely atmosphere. Staff are fantastic. They are dog friendly and our dog loves it there. Some great walks from there too. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time while visiting Chequers Inn, Hanham during a Sunday for some Sunday Roast.
Everything tasted good and staff were extremely kind. 🐕 Dogs everywhere, lot’s of green area and positive vibes.
My favourite was the sticky pudding at the end (it always is) 🤤
Definitely recommend you to visit!
We have dined here many times and never been disappointed . The food is excellent quality and there is something for most tastes on the menu .
The cauliflower soup and salmon starters along with sirloin steak and fish and chips were particular highlights . The staff are great to all nice folks with happy demeanours .
Looking forward to our next visit
After our last visit was tarnished by a very busy restaurant- We revisited this evening 26/08, I can honestly say we had an amazing fish and chips and ham egg and chips with delicious desserts. Ben looked after us from the minute we walked in, it was how I always remember our previous visits before the Sunday blip. The music was playing outside its a great place for an evening meal and chill out Thank you 👍🏼

After our visit today we won’t be returning- the worst roast I’ve ever had, standard has definitely gone downhill since are last visit. Considering the prices they charge, £5.50 for a cauliflower cheese which was tasteless and the meat on the roast was something you’d purchase from Iceland not happy at all over £110 spent on terrible food - we understand the wait as very busy and the waitress was lovely
First time I've been to the Chequers Inn for ages, and I was delighted to find it is still a wonderful place to go for food and drink. Excellent food, especially if you like fish, steak, and meat dishes, otherwise perhaps limited choice for vegetarians, etc., although the menu changes and so being a Monday lunchtime, probably after a busy weekend, some dishes weren't available. There was also the option of specials and a lunchtime menu of sandwiches, etc. Superb service.
Chequers is also dog friendly, and my dog had a great time, too, as she got a taste of my food from the very generous portions served.
Throughly enjoyed the visit.
Food was very good. It was nice to have a menu that wasn't your bog standard pub grub! Certainly cooked by a skilled chef and not just bunged in the micro.
The staff were very friendly & courteous, although service was perhaps a little slow.
Would definitely recommend and will look forward to another visit.
This is our local and we are always coming back as the staff are lovely and the food is always fantastic.
The menu changes often, which keeps us on our toes.
The staff are always welcoming.
The views of the river are beautiful and there is plenty of space inside and out.
My only complaint is that the children's menu is a lacking a pasta option.
My son and i ordered fish and chips, the fish was very nice but the chips on the menu were meant to be 3 times cooked chips. They were ordinary chips, we mentioned this to the waitress who said she would tell the chef. She did not come back. This is really poor if you are advertising three time cooked chips that is what you should serve not ordinary chips, it’s pretty basic. This is a photo taken from an earlier review showing bog standard chips.
Had a lovely fish pie here at the weekend - a great location, would be especially lovely for an outdoor meal by the waterfront. The pub has a great atmosphere and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We hope to visit again soon!
Lovely food, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely view over river. Great to see they've catered for people with mobility problems by installing an external lift system.
