Stopped in for lunch and a pudding, food was amazing (we had the messy burger and the steak sandwich) both came with beef dripping sauce. Best burger I've had in a while, cut it into quarters to eat it slower 🤭🤭. Had the sticky toffee pudding and the raspberry white chocolate pavlova which were divine. Definitely coming back again. Atmosphere was good, classy gastro pub Tudor vibes, chilled, didn't feel cramped nor spacious.
Was seated nicely according to size of family, welcomed with smiles especially Andy ! Was really attentive and never had to wait and entertained little one with his time …thanks Andy and to the other staff too !! food was to die for and all really hot and good portions we had a great evening out,we will be back again for sure ! Lucy and family !! Xx
Lovely place to eat. Had a really good roast with the largest Yorkshire I’ve ever seen!
Great atmosphere too, could actually speak to everyone in our group of 8 without having to shout above a load of noise. Great service too and great staff. Will definitely visit again.
I use the Red Lion 5-10 times a year for business lunches and also friends and family evening meals Andy and his team are always spot on with service and I have never had a bad meal. Rarely would I risk a steak in a pub style restaurant, but I had an amazing fillet yesterday, cooked to perfection. It has prompted me to write this review. Highly recommend for drink in the dog friendly bar or a meal in the restaurant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely food and good selection of choice on menu. Two mains two starters two pre starters.and two drinks 55 quid so to be fair reasonable. Nice service and attentive, feeling of genuine interest in wanting you to enjoy the experience and the food. Only downside is remembering to put your registration in for parking. Not a huge issue as plenty of signs around the car park and reminders as you come in but a bit daunting. Surprised there isnt free parking for a few hours and if longer then having to enter details as with other pubs locations. Just creates that little bit of anxiety.
Dinner for 6 at the Red Lion, food was really good, fillet steak came cooked exactly as requested. Chicken and beef burgers, fish and chips, and half chicken we're all really tasty, nicely presented, and good portions. Desserts were all enjoyed, the biscoff chocolate bomb worth it just to see it melting! Lots of parking, don't forget to register your car number plate.....
We came to celebrate a 70th birthday party today, 14/10/23. Great service and good food. I seriously cannot fault the service we all received. Andy was looking after our group today, wow...this man was amazing. Absolutely spot on, service top notch. We were welcomed into the establishment with open arms, what a lovely pub with a good vibe. The food was delicious, everyone was happy with their meal today, myself too. I was on the plant based menu/ food and I was happy with what was served. Great experience indeed was had by us all, good service, great laughs and lots of fun. Thank you Red Lion, thank you Andy. 👍🏾
We were there today and left super happy. The staff made an effort to find us a table despite not having a reservation. The place was very busy yet they were all welcoming, and the food was great. Nicely presented, fresh and tasty.
Highly recommended.
We had a lovely time at The Red Lion last Friday for our son and daughter 's 40th birthday, and cannot fault the food or service. We also had the restaurant area to ourselves as there was 17 of us so it made it a special occasion.
Considering Handcross lost their water for a while and we didn't know if we were goingbto get any dinner, it all went very well.
Thank you to all the staff on the night!!!
WOW!!! What a find!
The best pub we've visited 😀
Stopped on our way back from Gatwick Airport to charge the car and have something to eat.
Helen greeted us on our arrival and was so bright and helpful.
We eat in the restaurant, cheese burger and chicken burger being our choices. 😋
Absolutely lovely, burgers cooked to perfection, and the fries were fab. 👌
The whole place tastefully decorated, enhancing a beautiful building.
Pleased to find good local patronage, both in the bar and the restaurant. 😀
Wish we lived closer; The Red Lion would definitely be our local!
THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!!!
Had a great roast here and the service from Andy was very good, especially getting us a table at short notice. Will definitely be back.
We went as a family for a special celebration and were given a very warm welcome. The pub has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were shown to the table and were given plenty of time to pick what we wanted to eat and drink. Food was excellent and the staff were polite and attentive. They even let us bring our own cake as part of the celebration! Highly recommended and will be going back again for a sunday roast!
Very good customer service. Delicous food. High priced but worth it the taste!
Will defenetly come back another day.
Visited today for Dining after our car has broken down. Excellent and cosy spaces and excellent decorations.
Lovely taste and quality food.
Excellent roast beef. Great gravy. Friendly and efficient service. Plenty of a free parking on a popular day when the London to Brighton vintage car run was taking place in the High Street.
This Pub is excellent!! It was really good service as they let you decide your food for the right amount of time and the food arrived not too long after that. The food was delicious and well laid out. Also the food portions were perfect and the staff were friendly! The inside of the pub was well decorated and very clean.
I would definitely come here again.
So friendly. Young waitress was friendly, good banter, great recommendation on food. Excellent service. Food looked and tasted amazing, great wine choices, great alcohol free choices too. Desserts were to die for. Venue is huge, free car parking. Venue is beautiful and very clean.
A brilliant evening at the Red Lion! Excellent food with great choices, all served with a sense of humour. Our waiter, Andy, was brilliant! The service was great too. We’ll see you again soon!
Stopped in for a second time, on our way to the ferry port at Newhaven. Greeted by Andy, who managed to get us a table despite my failure at doing a booking! We ate a lovely meal, (we couldn’t resist and ended up having 3 courses and feeling stuffed). There’s a working EV charger in the car park which is how we found this place, and is now our regular last stop before we head off to France.
Staff is very kind and helpful. Food is great, I had Sunday roast last time , I can only recommend it. Also when the BP electric car charger was no working in the car park the manager provided access to electricity so I could charge my car to get to the next closest rapid charger. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
