We went for a meal at lunchtime. Not my first visit here. Highly recommended for a good selection of pub food that scores highly on my personal rating scale. Gluten free and Vegan options available. Excellent service from friendly staff. Booking essential at peak tourist season. This is on The Military Road just south of Hadrian’s Wall. Fantastic views and well worth a visit.
This is a good half way point for me to meet up with friends.
Booked Sunday lunch. Our friend was delayed in traffic, but it didn't cause any issues with our reserved table. Once lunch was ordered it didn't take long to come to the table. Meat and veg beautifully cooked and dessert was just as good. Staff helpful and friendly.
I did notice a sign outside on this visit to say due to the small size of the bar and restaurant areas, dogs were not allowed inside. .. I'm sorry for the dog walkers, but this is really helpful to my family due to allergies, which often is not taken into account! Thank you..
Hearty, tasty portions. I really enjoyed my lamb pie - which was a proper good slice, not just a pastry lid! Brilliant situation. A nice finish to a day's walking along the wall.

Really quaint, small pub in a good spot for the Wall. No dogs inside due to the small spaces but happy to accommodate outside in the ample beer garden. We had lunch there and it was very good. Service really friendly.
Great place to eat. The food we had was delicious. Friendly and polite staff. Well worth a visit
A lovely little pub with friendly staff. We decided to pop in today for lunch when we were walking Hadrians Wall. The food was wonderful and home cooked. The minted lamb pie was by far the best pie I've ever had with lovely mash and fresh vegetables 😋 delicious. Huge portions for a descent price. Thank you.
Dropped in for a pint as I was passing, lovely little pub, friendly locals and staff. The beer was very good. Be aware however dogs must remain outside.
Book ahead! If you want to go and have a meal you need to book. The location is great and staff were friendly incredibly helpful with allergies and intolerances (let them know about any allergies and intolerances before you order). Well worth a visit.
Really enjoyed our visit.
Despite the Sunday crowd they gave us a place to enjoy a (well-deserved) drink and a tasty bite to eat.
Cosy, friendly place!
What an amazing Inn! Fanstatic location.
We visited Milecastle Inn after an enjoyable, challeging and very wet day exploring Hadrian's Wall & Sycamore Gap. Building and decor are charming, service and food were excellent. Had a homemade Game Pie which was superb; it was obvious that much care and effort went in to making it. Mac & Cheese was also superb.
Stopped after a trip round parts of Hadrians Wall. Couple of pints and a fantastic meal too. Didn't stay in any rooms, as in motorhome. Recommended.
Food was absolutely delicious. Dogs have to stay outside but it was a hot day and the views are lovely so we were happy to sit outside
Tasty food, good range of beers and excellent staff. Brilliant location of you are walking Hadrian's wall it overlooks Milecastle 42.
Accepts dogs.
Very good pub. The main course was excellent. I had a haloum burger. Lovely Brian has scampi very fresh.
Just wonderful, this is a lovely family run pub. The food is amazing, there were 4 of us and we all had something different, we were incredibly happy with our choices. The staff were so friendly. I highly recommend eating here, you won’t be disappointed.
Had a really lovely meal. Delicious and with really friendly service. Highly recommend it.
The food was excellent and the portions definitely adequate. The young staff were welcoming and attentive. We had a very pleasant lunch.
