Have just been to Tarka's cafe for lunch with my sister. Lunch was amazing, we had the medium deli board, the best scotch egg we've ever eaten, quiche of the day, smoked mackerel pate, red pepper hummus, heritage tomato salad and elderflower drink. We'll definitely be back! Surroundings beautiful.

Just had our first visit. First impressions:- Greeted by a huge smile and greeting. Great menu choice. I’m not veggie but the halloumi breakfast was outstanding. The black pudding on my hubby’s breakfast was We’ll be back. (Granary bread would be good too )

Delicious Mummy’s Brunch Tarka’s! I moved to this area from London 2 years ago and have been waiting for a place like this to enjoy healthy tasty food & friend’s company in a atmospheric setting! Coffee is fantastic, service with a smile & the food was delicious. Child friendly too with colouring in for the little ones. We will definitely be regulars! Thank you.

Lovely fresh, tasty lunch. Banoffee pie made fresh that morning at the Cookery school was delicious. House wine perfect. Loving setting sitting on the decking in the beautiful sunshine. Staff very chatty and pleasant. This was really needed in the area, a pretty cafe serving delicious, local, homemade food. Will definitely be returning. Well done.

Great little cafe in an interesting collection of buildings. Reasonably priced with quick table service. Somewhat limited menu, but all done to a high quality and with lovely sourced ingredients.

Friendly atmosphere when you walk in your greeted to your table of choice And it is table service which I found very nice who gave you menus to browse through at leisure? I found the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. The food was outstanding. There seem to be a very wide variety for people of all dietary intake and would highly recommend that people go there just for the experience and I'm so glad I did with a friend of mine. So yep thumbs up coming back. Thank you for your service. Well appreciated

Exceptionally friendly, with exceptionally tasty food. Big breakfast a feast of quality ingredients (sausages and bacon from butchers next door) and if you want cakes or pastry, similar treats from the adjacent bakery. Quiet earlier in the morning. On some prior visits they’ve been very busy, but never too long to wait, or wander around the other Baythorne shops for a while.

We've been here numerous times now and always had good food and service. We visited again at the weekend with some friends and their kids and all the food came out together. Great for a walk around the antiques place opposite afterwards. 👍

Beautiful meal and good service. I was disappointed to be charged 50 pence for a pot of hot water, even after I’d ordered a tea and wanted the extra water as I like my tea weak. That is not customer friendly! Delicious scones and cakes.

Had the buddha bowl, was amazing. Double espresso also wonderful, so difficult to get a decent coffee in this country. Staff great, friendly, helpful and service quick. Lovely pace to visit

We found Tarka’s café by pure coincidence. After a trip to Adventure Bike Shop, we planned to have lunch at Finchingfield, but on the way, we came across Bayhorne Hall. Amongst a local butcher, antique shop, Ben and Ella’s farm shop and cookery school, lies this sweet little café with delightful food. As you enter, you are greeted with lots of homemade treats, both sweet and savoury, all of which appeal to the eye. You can tell the café is relatively new, but it really keeps a country feel in the process, especially with the log burning stove at the back, which is really lovely. It may not be the biggest café in the world, or many tables, but the seats are nicely distributed so that you are not sat on top of the people next to you– something I often find hard in chain establishments. The staff were very friendly and the food was served quickly. Iñigo ate a full English Breakfast, whilst I tried a stone baked garlic bread pizza with mozzarella. Naturally, we couldn’t resist the cakes at the front so ended up sharing a piece of chocolate marble cake too. The food was exactly what I expected from a little local café – great, fresh and locally resourced. I could even see the chefs cooking from where I was sat. Personally, I loved this place and think it was a great pit stop – there is ample parking outside, you have great views, good food and the chance to walk around the other shops. However, my only concern as a biker is the lack of space. We ended up there on a rather rainy day, with only a few other people eating with us. Had it been mid-summer, with lots of people, I am not sure how feasible taking a larger table to put our helmets and jackets on would have been. Finally, I prefer to pay a little more for a lovely oil-free breakfast, but for many people this place may be a little expensive for your usual Sunday breakfast.
