Cafe currently in a makeshift structure as the cafe is getting rebuilt after being destroyed in a fire. Food and staff are a delight. Flat whites were AMAZING! Proper, strong, barista made coffee. Food and drinks are served on paper plates / cups because of the temporary cafe structure. By far the best food and coffee I have had at a nursery cafe.

Have been meaning to try this for a while as I had heard good things and remember their famous suasage rolls. The new cafe is smart and bright. Menu is a well designed mix of tasty breakfast items, healthy lunches and coffee shop fare. Whilst waiting for order ilI was pleased to note decent cutlery and crockery (don't get me wrong, I will eat off anything, but appreciate attention to detail). I ordered beef and lamb koftas, coffee and a plum frangipan. This was somewhat expensive compared to a cafe, but better value when compared to a restaurant. It turned out to be absolutely worth it as quality of the food was impeccable. The koftas were acompanied by a generous and visually arresting salad that was absolutely delicious and clearly carefully assembled with prime ingredients, perfectly prepared. The coffee was smooth and excellently prepared and the tart was delectable. A real pleasure of a meal for eyes and taste buds, look forward to the next occasion.

A splendid cafe and a massive cut above what you’d expect to find in a garden centre. It has a wonderfully tempting menu and the best sausage rolls I’ve had in many a year. On this occasion I popped in for brunch and was immediately drawn to a childhood favourite - Eggy Bread! But my goodness, this was special. Beautifully light and fluffy toasted brioche with crispy streaky bacon and a little bowl of maple syrup with which to anoint it. I thought I might have difficulty finishing it but I soon realised I’d eaten the lot. As for the banana compote that accompanied it. Lovely! Good food. Great coffee. Wonderful garden centre.

A delicious high quality breakfast , with a vegetarian option available as well. Friendly staff, lovely environment and it opens nice and early. A great Pitstop on the way to a meeting.

Food is excellent. Can recommend the breakfast rolls. Coffee and cakes good to. Bit of a wasp situation at present but not enough to stay away. Great break in between shopping. Recommended.

This little gem, tucked away in the car park at Staverton Nursery, serves up the best halloumi pitta pockets EVER! Equally good is their coffee and friendly customer service. 5 Stars is not enough ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I may be biased as this coffee shop is in the nursery run by my husband’s family…BUT, it is amazing food and we take any excuse to nip up the spade and spoon for lunch. My children also all love the breakfast baps, sausage rolls and superb eggy bread. Portion sizes are very generous, and every mouthful a delight. I love the way their flavours all compliment each other- often pairing flavours I wouldn’t have thought to. The coffee is a distinctive flavour which I wasn’t keen on as a filter coffee, but find truly addictive in a latte! Dan and Kate do a fantastic job, as do all the staff. Keep up the good work Dan!

Excellent quality locally sourced produce. We were part of a large group (14) and had not pre-warned the kitchen so service was understandably a little slow, you can't expect that much freshly cooked food in a few minutes. Service was friendly and engaging. Whilst we waited we enjoyed excellent coffee and fresh orange juice. The eggy bread, on thick slices of brioche, has set a new standard in our home and is still raved over 3 weeks later. The full monty cooked breakfast showcased the local produce perfectly. It was tasty and well cooked, one of the best cooked breakfasts I have enjoyed for years. I don't like baked beans but the homemade ones included were delicious and a league of their own, I would definitely be tempted in the future. An excellent cafe, with the added bonus of being able to see everything that is being cooked through big windows in the kitchen. Delicious.

Great little cafe to visit whilst you're visiting the nursery. Seating inside and out, outside still being covered so rain doesn't matter. Seating areas surrounded by plants that you can buy if you like them. Had coffee and a light breakfast when we were there, good Sussex fare.

Very good garden centre, unfortunately cafeteria staff could be a bit more polite.

We have been coming to Spade and Spoon since the opened (in the van outside), but it's much nicer now its indoors during the winter! We always have the samething (Mushroom and Halloumi breakfast bun) and a coffee. Creature's of habit. Highly recommend Spade & Spoon a great complement to a fantastic garden centre.
