Went here on Thursday, always a bit wary of new places as a vegan. There were a couple of vegan options on the menu, but then the chef came out and explained all the adaptations he could make to various dishes and I was spoilt for choice.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff so helpful and accommodating, particularly of the two sleeping toddlers we had with us. It was so lovely, and a pleasant change, both as a parent of a small child and as a vegan, to be treated as a welcome paying customer rather than an inconvenience or irritant.
Will definitely be spreading the word to fellow vegheads ��
I ate at the bar of the kitchen with four friends for lunch on a Saturday in January and we had an absolutely fantastic meal. I can not recommend it highly enough. The food was made right in front of us and the chef chatted about the ingredients with us and helped us choose the right things for our vegetarian/meat-eaters mix. The desserts were amazing too- including a truly life-changing treacle tart. Great service from the rest of the staff. This restaurant would be three times as expensive in London and you wouldn’t be able to get a table for love nor money. Go! Eat! And enjoy the amazing Piece Hall when you’re done!
This was our third visit, love the food, great staff and fabulous setting in the beautiful Price Hall. We shared starters loved the beetroot fritters and the baked cheese is divine. Difficult to choose from the selection of mains, opted for the confit of duck which was delicious. The other three mains; beef, lamb and haddock all met with approval and the green vegetables were particularly good. Finished off with Summer Pudding - can’t wait to go again and sample the new menu.
Amazing food (we'd have happily eaten anything & everything on the menu), relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, what more could you ask for? If you go to Piece Hall I would definitely recommend eating at Elder. Whether it's for coffee & cake or food too you won't be disappointed. We'll be back soon �
Just happened upon Piece Hall by recommendation of a friend and was looking for a nice place to have a coffee. Went into Elder and couldn't recommend it highly enough! Very friendly wait staff, excellent food, beautiful coffee, lovely ambience! We'll definitely be back again :)
Didn't have time to sample the hot food but coffee, homemade scones and savoury muffins were delicious. Lovely, friendly staff and a great place to sit and watch the world go by.
Absolutely beautiful food, great wine and lovely staff...will definitely be going again. Loved the 1st birthday celebration which was 3 drinks and 3 plates of delicious food and live music. Looking forward to the 2nd birthday celebrations
Went in today looks spot on, great coffee, sampled the beer (all good) and tried the ham hock and peas pudding special it was amazing. Sarah and Gregor had the sourdough bread with gravy and cheese which was top notch. Great service and friendly staff. Will be visiting again soon.
First time yesterday for brunch. I loved it! Great quality of food and options. Service was great. The look and feel of the place was relaxed and had a great vibe to it! Good value too! Overall it was a great experience and I will be back with friends and family!
Just enjoyed a lovely meal with friends. The menu is varied with lots of seasonal choice, the staff are accommodating and the atmosphere is great! Highly recommended �

Had a lovely lunch here earlier today. Some incredible food on offer for great prices. We were happily bowled over. Good drinks too, friendly and attentive staff as well. Highly recommend.
Amazing location for people watching with a relaxed atmosphere. The food was absolute perfection, expertly prepared and what a taste. With the kitchen opening into the dining area it really smells amazing. Will go again outside of Christmas to savour the regular menu.
We love Elder! The food is always top notch and the atmosphere relaxed and casual. The chef creates interesting dishes using quality ingredients. This evening, we had roast lamb breast and roast belly pork for our main courses. They were so tender and moist.
For dessert, we had the blueberry sponge with coconut cream and baked cheesecake, both of which were to die for.
The service at Elder is always friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxed and casual.
We had a decent bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, which we both enjoyed and which we considered good value for money.
We look forward to returning to Elder again and again, and we wish the chef and his team the very best.
It was my first time eating here and I was pleasantly surprised. A cosy restaurant with a nice calm atmosphere. The staff couldn't be more helpful, the waitress recommend the braised beef which was delicious and fell apart. These two dishes look small but they filled me so I had no room for pudding, which also looked amazing! Will be visiting again
Fantastic lunch in a very pleasant location; staff very friendly and welcoming, with a excellent choice of food and drinks. Highly recommend the meat and cheese board, very generous portions for a reasonable price. We will definitely be back!
Delicious food for something a bit more special than a usual meal out. Beautifully cooked food and excellent service make for a thoroughly pleasant evening out.

Took a group of 20 for lunch. It was prebooked so the service was pretty quick. Not one complaint ..... what an achievement!! The food was extremely tasty and the staff friendly and helpful. Being a veggie it was nice to have something completely new ..... the beetroot fritters were delicious. The wine was rather expensive but everything else was reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to take another group to eat here. Well done and thank you.
Visited here on Wednesday for lunch and it is located in a perfect setting the Piece Hall. Extremely tasty burgers, with great patties, and decently priced too. Would definitely recommend the Okey-Smokey burger.
