Brilliant! Turned up today for lunch the place was rammed. The landlord made a super effort and offered us the couch area of the bar. That was a great gesture to squeeze us in. The food was amazing, my wife said the fish pie was to die for and the crumble on desert was super. All mixed with superb service and good beer. Well done Maypole truly exceptional...

Went here on Saturday for my sons 30th birthday. There were 22 of us and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The landlord even had a birthday shot with my son. The staff took time to make sure everything was perfect. What a great place. I would highly recommend. Many thanks to all at The Maypole. Xx

Oh my god. How amazing. Ate here for the first time on Sunday and wasn't disappointed. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we felt welcome and at home. The staff were fantastic, said hello to my to 1yr old and even addressed her when bringing her food out. The food was amazing! The service was friendly and despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon we weren't kept waiting around for courses. Couldn't recommend highly enough and can't wait for a return visit.

The best Roast Beef I’ve eaten in a very long time, absolutely delicious and as tender as could be. Top notch ale and great service. Shared a cheese board with a friend afterwards and it was flawless. Can’t fault the food at the Maypole.

Our very short-notice booking, for lunch, was no problem at all. The sandwiches and baguettes were excellent - I don't think I have ever seen so much roast beef in one baguette! Still as good as ever, 47 years after I first frequented the pub.

Sellars/White Household. We dined at the Maypole late afternoon on sunday 20th November.. There was 6 adults and 4 children in our party when we arrived at the already busy pub. Straight away the staff sorted us a table and within 10minutes we were sat down with our menus. The starters came out and was out of this world, really tasty and very well presented. Attention to detail even for the childrens meals, which was a nice. The mains all fantastic too. This is somewhere we will be eating again very soon. The cost of the meal was of very good value. Well done all. X

Passed with Honours. Date of visit: 22nd July

Following our daughter's graduation in Lancaster, we had planned to call at another local restaurant for a celebration meal on the way back from the M62 motorway (The Turnpike). When we got there, a wedding was in full swing, so we looked for a plan B and thought we would try the Maypole, which is very near where we live and which re-opened earlier this year. So glad we did.

We had:

Starters:
Broccoli and parmesan soup with a selection of fresh home made bread; aubergine and goat's cheese parcels; bread and olives (to share). All delicious and well presented.

Mains:
Chicken stuffed with garlic mushrooms; Crispy pork belly on a bed of bubble and squeak with slices of apple and a cider jus; vegetarian stuffed pepper with mushroom risotto; one of our party had the aubergine and goat's cheese starter as a main meal.

All our plates went back empty. The Crispy pork belly was a perfect balance of tastes, very well cooked and presented with a subtle delicious light jus. We all felt we could recommend the dishes we had, but the pork was particularly good.

The vegetarian options were really good and not just the usual suspects, which ticked the box for two of our party as many eateries have a "this is the vegetarian option - take or leave it" attitude.

The staff were very attentive and cheerful and the service was prompt. Would definitely recommend it to others and we intend to go again, particularly as it is within walking distance, so we can leave the car at home and sample some of the great beers and wine.

As we were leaving another graduation party arrived.

Downside? Loos could do with re-furbishment. Outside of that, full marks.

Lovely pub! Good food! Good service! The Maypole is a lovely little pub tucked away in Warley Town. There is a very cosy atmosphere in the main pub area and the larger dining area is good and open with original features scattered throughout. The food is generally good basic food, with a good range on the menu and made well. I only gave it a 4 when comparing to other similar pubs in the Halifax area. But there is certainly nothing wrong with the food, and is good value for money. The roast dinner was good, with plenty of meat served on the plate! Decent Yorkshire pudding too! Definitely recommend for eating out with families of all ages!

The food here is probably the best and cosistently the best for a country Inn anywhere in the UK I have visited. The service and atmosphere are top class and the Maypole was our first go-to eatery when my mother was alive. She loved the food too. Chris and co have created an amazing place. The menu is very varied, there's always something new to try.

Just been for a meal with family for my birthday. Fabulous, great staff, great rapport. Four different dishes and desserts all fantastic. Had a couple of beers. It was also tremendous value which was a bonus. It's great for me when I come back to the area to have good food and drink options. I/we will be back. Thanks to all. Just been back again fantastic wonderful service the rest as above

Lovely tasting pub grub and nice friendly atmosphere. I had the gammon with pineapple, egg chips and onion rings which were all lovely cooked. Recommend. The steaks also looked very good which is what I would have next time I go.

It is some time since our last visit. We were warmly welcomed and given a table round the back in a rather cramped area. The food was excellent. The best fish pie I have ever had. Thank you

Went for lunch, we did book as heard it can get busy. We just had a sandwich, but good choices. You can choose which bread you want and choice of side eg: chunky chips, skinny fries, crisps and more. I had the steak and philly melt and it was delicious, 😋 My Mum enjoyed her prawn, which she had with no sauce and staff were happy to oblige. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We chatted to a few people who were sat around us and they had all become regular visitor's as they enjoyed it that much, which speaks volumes. I looked at their main's and they looked delicious too. We will definitely be returning for an evening meal. 😃 They have themed nights eg: Steak night, Fish and Chip night etc: I will be trying the steak night after enjoying my steak butty so much.
