Beautiful gardens. The house wasn't open for tours but there are 2 long walls with interesting history as well as the placards throughout the garden.
This is a must see! The house was absolutely gutted on the inside a couple of years ago from a fire, which has destroyed whole floors & all internal decoration.
It is a unique opportunity to see such a property & its architectural features, whilst the MT have made it safe to visit & consider how they will restore this.
A big question is whether to fully restore to its previous grandeur or now leave it as it stands & use the opportunity to tell a new story..?
Really fascinating time to visit, following the terrible fire in 2015. You don a hardhat and put on a high-vis jacket to enter the house. The house was completely gutted and you can see right back to the brick work. Information boards show before and after images - as well as the history of the building. Go if you can - and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
An amazing and haunting experience. I would have loved to have seen it whole, but as it is, I look forward to watching the project progress.
Good car park, friendly staff. We did a guided tour of the house. Really interesting to see what is left after the fire. Guides really informative nice picnic area
A privilege to be able to visit this work in progress. Excellent staff and volunteers sharing the house's history in the past and going forward.
Good visit, did some trails and then visited the basement of the house wearing a hard hat and could view the extent of the fire in 2015. All our questions were answered.
Very interesting tour of this previously lovely house before the disastrous fire. Excellent volunteer guides, worth a visit.
An amazing place to visit, nice and quiet. There is an opportunity to visit the house including the basement. The Dutch garden is lovely to see.
It's a ruin after the fire and an impressive and well presented one at that with ambitious plans for restoration. But no-one will say what lessons the National Trust has learned from a fire that destroyed an irreplaceable piece of heritage. The fire spread unchecked through the roof. Instead of spending a fortune restoring this house maybe money would be better spent on fire compartmentation and fire suppression in other still intact houses?
Under repair but the grounds are still available for walks. Hopefully I'll get to visit the interior one day.
Great visit and grounds massive rebuild project showing progress
Clandon Park is a beautiful National Trust property located in Surrey. The house is a stunning example of Palladian architecture, and the grounds are well-maintained and full of interesting features. There is something for everyone at Clandon Park, from the elegant interiors to the peaceful gardens. I highly recommend a visit!
