We would have given the pub 5 stars if they hadn't kept us waiting 30 minutes for a fish finger sandwich. They were courteous enough to offer a half of bitter and packet of crisps while waiting (nicely handled). The food was rather good. Certainly worth the visit in the end.
TIP: When you order, ask how long the food will take BEFORE you pay!
Wow what a wonderful pub restaurant, we booked in the Sunday Roast. 👍
Food absolutely delicious, 👌I had pork belly, and a huge yorkshire pudding and for dessert I had cherry ripple sundae. Service great, atmosphere great, would definately recommend you visit if in the area. Thank you to all staff especially the kitchen staff/chef/s 10/10
Just the most AMAZING food and delicious wines with wonderful service. The welcome was very friendly and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We had an incredible meal, cooked and served to perfection. Thank you to the kitchen and staff!
Went there for a Sunday roast. We had a reservation for 4pm. The service was great, they were super friendly with our two dogs and the food was exceptional BUT, very much to our disappointment they came back twice to let us know something had sold out. It seems a common theme, reading other reviews on here so I would hope the pub is learning from that and stocking up to avoid disappointed customers. However, I’ve never had a better roast beef in a pub … so still 5 stars.
We had a very enjoyable Christmas meal at The Queen's Head today. There was a wedding reception going on at the same time, but they still managed to provide an excellent service for our group. I really enjoyed the cheese souffle starter, and the roast turkey was very tasty too. The plum and sherry trifle to finish had a lovely festive flavour, which was a pleasant surprise. Recommended.
My wife and I had a really lovely evening with amazing food and a really nice wine. This cannot taken for granted as I'm a coeliac and therefore need special "treatment". The staff was well informed about the disease and assured my that all is safe for me. In fact, I haven't had any problems.
Popped in at the back end of a 6hr walk. Lovely staff and the roast was simply perfect. Portion, quality and price were all aligned. Thank you guys
First time here really good food staff friendly and welcoming well worth a visit probably one of the best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time would be happy to go back
Wonderful lunch, outside seating, quiet location, food quality excellent. Slightly more expensive than expected but TOTALLY worth it.
Lovely pub with a great outside eating area. Stopped for lunch. They'd had a few problems that day, so service was slow. But the food was well worth the wait. I had the Fish Finger sandwich. The description really doesn't do it justice. It was two small battered fillets of fish, served in a brioch like sandwich and with chips. Very tasty. They also handled the delay well, offering us an extra drink to compensate.
We had a lovely Sunday roast at this gem of a pub. My partner has the beef and I really enjoyed my vegetarian option. The sides were splendid and I loved that the veg was served separately so we could pick and choose our faves. Friendly staff in a cosy, calm setting. Can't wait to come back again soon.
Had the roast lamb and it was the nicest roast I've had for a long while, staff fabulous, we arrived with a greyhound walking group and the staff looked after us all, no waiting around, lovely garden for all the dog's
Love this place! We made an impromptu visit yesterday afternoon for a few drinks and snacks. Glorious Provencal rose available and some really tasty treats. I ordered the sourdough bread (crisp on the outside, delightfully soft inside) with delicious salty butter and then the piece de resistance, the bang bang cauliflower. I was convinced that my kids would hate even the look of it and so was anticipating eating it all. Alas, it looked spectacular and I had to share. Crisp, a touch spicy, scattered with sesame seeds. We'll be back for lunch/dinner!
