Out for a drive through the County Down Coastline. Stopped at The Stables, in the small town of Groomsport, around tea time . No prebooking made. Was able to accommodate straight away.
Staff were very helpful. Starter and mains only ordered. Portions are very generous, especially side orders. Could easily split the portions between two people. No desserts ordered. Wine by the bottle definitely gone up in price!!
First time eating in The Stables and I wasn't disappointed, I seen an offer on livingsocial for a burger and beer or wine deal, thought sure why not try it, given I have an allergy to yeast and potato, the Chef went out of his way and made me flatbread from scratch, what a wee gem, definitely didn't expect that, and the food was delicious to, too much for me as got a doggy box to take home lol, ordered a pavlova between the two of us as it was massive, devine sweetness... so if your about Groomsport don't by-pass it without trying it firstly...
We had a great meal here today. I got the chicken stack which came with champ and tobacco onions with peppercorn sauce. It was gorgeous. My mum and dad enjoyed theirs also. Staff were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We went here today for Christmas day meal. It was amazing the food was beautiful and the staff couldn't do enough to help. My son took covid 2 days ago so we had to cancel him and although they didn't have to offer us anything back they were willing to give him a £40 voucher which we were more than happy with. The owner spoke to us personally and told us to let him know when we would be returning and he would get us a great table organised. Now this man was very busy and didn't have to take time to speak at all but it made all the difference as his generosity and politeness and caring nature made us more than willing to support his business. So head to the stables you will not be disappointed.
First visit to The Stables & certainly wont be my last.Atmosphere is warm & inviting.

The food is outstanding beautifully presented real hearty portions & bursting with flavour! really talented bunch of chefs i highly recommend this little gem in Groomsport.(its worth the travel)

Met up here with family after laying my aunt to rest. Lots of privacy and a lovely spread layed on. Will definitely be back under better circumstances.
We came here in the late afternoon for a nice meal and it wasn't just nice, it was spectacular! Fish and chips of the highest quality and the quantity was barely manageable. So the value for food is definitely good! The members of staff were all very friendly and we were able to ask the kind waiter whether we could sit closer to the window, which wasn't a problem at all. Toilets were very modern and clean and the area it is situated in is very picturesque with views out towards the sea included at every visit. Highly recommended!

Haven't been to the stables in years but the return was good. Service was excellent and the food was very good and well priced. Could do with a lick of paint but they are using what they have well!
Always a good feed at The Stables. The food is good, the service from the staff is great and the location is even better all while maintaining great value for money. Only criticism is that it can be slow and the food has been on the colder side a couple times we have visited but still offers good flavour.
Just had the most AMAZING meal with my husband, the food was OUTSTANDING and the service was perfect, the girls where so friendly serving us xx
