I went for food and drinks twice over a week due to my best mates wedding. Initially the stag do evening meal then the night before the big day. The food was excellent and I would particularly recommend the scotch egg starter. Super variety of beers. The staff are all friendly and helpful. If you are in the area give it a try. There’s been a lot of work to improving the pub and stripping back to the brick makes it pleasing on the eye. Certainly from when I’d last visited about 20 years ago! I will definitely be returning.

Fantastic country pub. Staff very attentive, poured a great beer and the food was to die for. Pity we live in New Zealand as this would definitely be a fav to revisit.

We visited last night in a group of 4 (with baby and dog in tow). We ordered from the tapas menu and decided to share many dishes between us and the food was superb! Not only was the taste lovely, but the presentation was too. The young men serving us took real pride in their work. They were polite, professional, friendly and welcoming throughout, as were the ladies behind the bar. All staff were accommodating for our baby and the dog also. We are lucky that this pub is a short canal walk away as we've been a few times before and it never disappoints! Thank you all

Brilliant service. Family run pub. I have multiple food allergies, intolerances and EoE, which means my diet is very restricted. The service was amazing, and the food excellent. Very accommodating staff. Will definitely be back.

Good selection of local(ish) beers as well the usual ten or so keg beer and cider offerings. I had a pleasant pint from the local (Stoke) Titanic brewery. A large venue made up of a number of semi detached rooms. Quite noisy although not very busy during my visit, Saturday 5pm, few soft surfaces to soften the echoes. Popular with parents of small children (who are allowed to wander about at will and shout and scream) hence three * for atmosphere. I didn't eat this time, but have before and it was fine.

We visited about a month ago and I had a chicken dish on a bed of leeks and Savoy cabbage with tarragon gravy. It was possibly the best meal I have had out for months if not years. My partner was less hungry so just had soup but again, great flavours, lovely bread, great value!

Fantastic food. Quick service, but ut was a Monday mid afternoon. Would recommend 👌 The pork loin was delicious and so was ham, leek and cheese pie. Good size portions, reasonably priced

Absolutely the most friendly and accommodating pub we visited along the canal, they were happy to seat a large party at fairly short notice and happy to be a little flexible about times as we were doing locks. The food was so delicious, and they were so kind to both the older member of our group and the little kids.

Food was lovely, at first didn't think much of the menu, we went for the burger and tandoori chicken, lovely food, really enjoyed it, nice comfortable surroundings really pleased we'd stopped here on our way back from a busy day out at Chester zoo.

Loved it! I had the summer salad, which was perfect. The misses had the pulled pork nachos, which were good, but unique (made with pita chips). We will definitely come back if we are cruising down the Llangollen Canal again.

Visited for a couple of drinks on a rainy day during a camping trip. Would’ve eaten if we hadn’t already as menu and food on tables looked good. Atmosphere was pleasant, lovely pub inside and dog friendly 👌🏼

This is a lovely pub with friendly staff and great atmosphere. The food was nice and portion sizes were generous. We've tried a few pubs in Whitchurch and this is the best so far. Thank you 😊

Very rustic and vintage aesthetic, but with an updated and varied menu Very friendly and accommodating staff (including the resident dog!) The wait wasn't long, even for a large group at a moderately busy lunchtime! They serve the best ice cream from Cheshire ice cream farm! And there is something for everyone on the drinks menu!

Not a bad little gastro pub, plenty of choices on the menu, but we had the Sunday roast and we were not disappointed, beef cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were to die for, herby and crunchy, just as they should be. Recommend calling in.
