Friendly staff and great food there, just not much space to sit in and eat, but guess there's not much they can do about that. Great little place otherwise!

We stopped at the takeaway section for a quick bite to eat. The service was very fast and the food was good for the value. The mushy peas stood out for me as it was probably the best I’ve had. If around the area will try the restaurant next time.

Been going here for over 40 years, first as a kid with my dad, and now with my grandkids. The best in town for fish n chips, great food, friendly staff.

The oldest fish and chip shop in Grimsby (originally opened by a Mrs Sally Cox in 1883) and still one of the best, always up there in locally conducted polls. Still serving good quality fish and chips. Eat in or take away the quality is the same. The restaurant is quite small hence the name, always warm clean and well lit with bench style seating around giving a nice cozy atmosphere. It has table service provided by friendly staff. A simple menu nothing fancy just good honest traditional British 🇬🇧 food and good service, it also has a children's menu making it family friendly. It still offers a pensioner special. They also serve a good pot of tea and desserts. There is also some seating on market adjacent to the take away. It holds a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence .It hasn't got restrooms of its own however it has access to the facilities provided by the market, which includes facilities for the disabled. It gets very busy at times so you may have to wait for a table. It's cash only here and they have a 5***** food hygiene rating Review 3.11.2018 Paid another visit here today, had to wait awhile for a table there was a small queue patiently waiting to go into the restaurant (always a good sign, people generally don't queue for rubbish food do they?) they were really busy. Ordered a large fish (haddock) chips, mushy peas, bread and butter (it is butter here) and a mug of tea. After a short wait my food arrived, the fish wasn't huge but it was really fresh, moist lovely white and flaky, delicious. Accompanied with a good sized portion of crispy chips, and really good mushy peas (I ❤ the peas from here). All in all a really good meal with excellent ,friendly and polite table service and at just over £9.00 worth the money,I would happily recommend it. December 2018. I'm quite well known for trying anything food related, well today was something new even for even me, Deep fried Brussel sprouts😃😊 with chips and liver&onion gravy and I can honestly say that they were absolutely delicious and only at the Peabung. 😁 That's something original. 👍 March 2019. Dropped in for lunch again today, I had a large Haddock, chips, mushy peas and a mug of tea. I'm pleased to say everything is still very good here, the quality of the fish was very good, a generous portion of good freshly fried crispy chips and super mushy peas all backed up by good table service. 😁 I paid £7.50 for my food and a further £1.25 for my tea. I've also used the takeaway here, the quality of food is the same and you can have Haddock, chips and peas to takeaway for under £5.00.😁 Food review December 2019. I paid another visit to this restaurant today, I ordered a large Haddock, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a mug of tea. Everything was great,a generous portion of good crispy chips, some of the fabulous mushy peas that they serve here and a good sized fillet of good quality Haddock which had lovely tasting crispy batter, good white coloured flesh, a moist consistency and stacks of flavour, all backed with friendly and efficient table service.A good quality traditional fish and chips meal.👌 I paid £9.30 for my meal, very enjoyable and well worth it. One other change is that they now have a table in the restaurant that's wheelchair friendly. 👍 Update December 2021. As with other restaurants and takeaways there has been an increase in prices, a regular portion of fish chips and peas to takeaway is currently £5.50. Food review June 2022. Had a change today and tried the pensioner's special here today 😊 ( over 60s ) , fish, chips and mushy peas👌, tea or coffee, bread and butter and a pudding, all very good quality and good value at £7.50.👍 Update April 2023. The price of a regular fish, chips and peas to takeaway is £7.50 at present.

My wife and I go quite often and sometimes take the grandchildren. My grandson is allergic to certain things and one is flour so they cook his fish without flour or batter. Because of his allergies we have been told that if we want to we can take our own bread and dessert for him. This wouldn't happen in every restaurant so for us it speaks volumes. Thank you to all the lovely staff. See you soon
