What a fantastic team at this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for our wedding this weekend. Fiona you are an exceptional manager, your advice was spot on regarding the evening buffet, glad we listened. The hot meal was amazing, all our guests commented on the quality, quantity and how fresh all the accompaniments were. The honeymoon suite was fab with the lovely touches of chocolates and champagne on arrival. We didn't see our function room until our return from the Blacksmiths shop, what a lovely surprise it was. The room was beautiful with all the special finishes.
The DJ that you recommended was brilliant and every request was played. All in all a fantastic experience, we had an amazing weekend with family and friends. We would not hesitate to recommend The Solway Lodge to anyone wanting a quality wedding venue or a weekend break.
We used the Flower Basket for bouquets and button holes, all were delivered to the hotel and also used Glendinnings in Annan for kilt hire, they were top notch and also picked up from the hotel after the wedding which was handy. All the local services we used including the taxi firms spoke very highly about the quality of the hotel and the food, so we had a lovely rib eye steak on the recommendation of Frank from the Blacksmiths shop and the staff at Glendinnings, we were not disappointed.

Absolute fabulous. Everything about it from room staff drinks and food atmosphere. Would recommend it if you even come up to Gretna. ��������

What a absolutely amazing hotel to stay in very clean,great staff cannot fault it in anyway would recommend this place to anyone wanting to go for a break or a wedding. Will be returning very soon. A very big thank you to Fiona and the girls for the great service and decorating the wedding room. To Karen and her husband for all there help and to Gary and the kitchen staff for the great food

Beautiful meal as always and also had my wedding reception here 2 years ago and everyone done an amazing job and a big thank you to Fiona who arranged everything for myself and my late husbands wedding day it was perfect and would highly recommend x

The staff were terrific the menu was fantastic the food was fabulous & to cap it all it was very reasonably priced, anyone in Gretna should choose the "Solway Lodge"

We have been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. The staff are all lovely and very helpful, the rooms are very clean and comfortable and cleaned and refreshed every day. The meals are lovely, very good sized portions. Highly recommend
Stopped for a meal after along day of driving. Staff were friendly there was a good wide choice on the menu and a good gluten free section. Food was tasty, hot and portions were very generous. Whilst not fine dining it did what we needed to before our boat home. Will stop here again!
Clean and tidy. TV working. Breakfast excellent. Only downside was a dog in the opposite room would bark every time you left/entered your room or whenever someone walked past. Only for one night other two were quiet.
Just had a wonderful 2 night stay with our friends for their wedding at The Blacksmiths Shop. All of the staff were amazing from start to finish and really made our stay special. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was just amazing, compliments to the chef!! Both bedrooms were great, beds were comfy and rooms spotlessly clean.....and the toilets in the hotel bar area were the nicest smelling one's I've ever been in!!! 😄 Hope to be back again in years to come to celebrate their anniversary. Would definitely recommend a stay if you're heading to Gretna.
Can't fault this place at all, the staff from reception to the bar were very welcoming, the breakfast was excellent, and Debbie who served us was brilliant, and very accomadating to any extra toast etc, thank you all so much,made our sons wedding experience so special.
We ate here at short notice they fitted us in albeit we didn't finish meal the meal was superb although I'd have to say slightly pricey for what we got but considering its Gretna I suspect tourist weddingism prices but meal and staff was superb
Stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding nearby.. Had I known about the outside rooms I wouldn't of booked ..This looks like an old toilet block . Our room was cold and smelt damp . The carpets didn't run up to the skirting boards and the room was not worth the money. If you are a above a size 12 you will struggle in the tiny bathroom. We were told people actually live in these rooms and won't be paying the amount we did!! The rooms inside the main building where our daughter stayed were warm, bright and cosy . We were kept awake until the early hours by next door sitting outside and shouting. Leaving for breakfast, there were empty beer glasses, smashed glass and crushed disposal lighters. That was the only problem. Inside the main building the staff were great with a really good breakfast.
Have been visiting this Beautiful Hotel since 2007 and would recommend it to everyone who enjoys A Very Warm Welcome from Fiona the Manager and All The Staff. This Hotel is ideally situated within the Romantic Town Of Gretna, and has numerous rooms to cater for Disabled Guests in little Chalets at the side of the Hotel, with an ample choice of Family, Twin and Double Rooms within the Hotel itself. You can even choose to have your Whole Wedding Conducted here or, just your Reception in its Beautiful and Tastefully Decorated Diningroom. As for The Food and Drinks available here, they are Second to None, as There is an Extensive Menu, to cater for All Tastes, Dietary Requirements and Prices. Highly Recommend this Gem within Gretna Green, you won't be disappointed

Our room was lovely and the bath tub was amazing.
Really well located not too far from anything you could need.
Food was delicious and perfectly made, really nice dining area and bar with plenty of choice.
Great value for money, definitely where we will be staying anytime we come back to gretna, was gutted we had to come home so early, thank you for a lovely break away 🙂
We went for a meal with family members who eat here regularly and it was very good indeed. Can recommend.
We were a party of 13 and stayed at The Solway for 2 nights . My son was getting married at the Old Blacksmiths Shop and we were having the meal at the hotel.
The staff were so lovely, friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
We had the meal in a private dining room. The table was set lovely and they supplied a speaker for us to play our music.
The food throughout our stay was gorgeous, piping hot and HUGE portions!
Bedrooms were lovely, modern and spotlessly clean.
They made our stay as stressfree as possible and we loved it so much we will definitely be back.
We thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are thinking of visiting Gretna .
Family celebration dinner for around 20 people. Food was great and service was brilliant. Everyone left full anx very happy.
Sunday night meal it was delicious friendly staff and very comfortable surroundings highly recommended
We stayed 2 nights at either end of a few days with family for Christmas. The chalet rooms were very clean and tidy, they looked pretty recently decorated. The food and staff were superb and we had our dog with us and she got a sausage each morning for breakfast. The location for the motorway is fantastic, very handy for the shopping village too.
We'll definitely stay here again on our way to and from family further north.
From the second we checked in I loved this place. Staff are the friendliest people, possibly ever in regards to the service industry! Food - spectacular!! Great veggie breakfast as well. Absolutely insane value for the price. If I am ever in the area again this is the only place I will stay :)
Went in for a meal totally amazing great service didnt have to wait too long and the meal itself was really great def will go back recommend this place to everybody
